one can only hope, but we all know good times never last
all you can really do is carry on spirit of the things you love in the way you live and the things you make
so basically I'm telling you to build yourself a superhero costume and fight crime, don't worry, it's not too dangerous

The Tick is an interesting case. He's very popular and beloved by fans but he's never really been popular enough to break into the mainstream of comics or media in the same way as say Invincible or even Spawn.

Well Venture Bros is over so maybe Doc and Jackson can do a Tick series with Ben again? I liked the Live Action series but Tick works better as a cartoon.

comic is fricking based. the cartoon is good saturday morning fare. The show with warburton is meh/mid but it has its moments. I wouldn't call it underrated. I would say the Amazon one is underrated. Unfortunately it's divorced from the based-ness of the comic and has the standard Amazon pozzed shit spread out

    >1 cartoon
    >2 live action series
No ninja world, no Oedipus, no Paul the Samurai, no chainsaw vigilante , no man eating cow
Though I guess the show and cartoon both had Batman analogs and Wonder Woman analogs
The amazon show had a Superman analog which the original comic also had

Amazon show had a few shout outs to things we'd not yet seen. I liked their B team for the Flag 5. and Ms Lint going more and more unstable. And the next big bad living in Wrathbones Blackhole Heart.

The vigilante guy in the Amazon show was kind of close to “chainsaw vigilante” I suppose
And he had the Terror in the show too. I just really liked the Ninja world stuff in the comic so I wish they used it once in awhile.

The live action shows were more Arthur centric than the cartoon and comic. Would have been interesting if the Amazon series started with Tick dealing with ninjas and then Arthur showing up
Guess they wanted to do “is Arthur crazy” but that lasts 3 episodes anyways

I liked in the comic how The City was all C list heroes so they had to go to New York to be in the big league
All the adaptations has the City being full of heroes .

I have a theory that ben edlund was absolutely never ever going back to the city based on how quickly he ditched it and all that canada and roadtrip setup. Also dot is cute in every version I guess except for the 2001 version.

I wonder how the Tick in New York saga would have ended. I don't see Tick keeping all the rich Tick stuff.
and there was that random subplot about tv mind controlling everyone. but that was only a few pages in the comic

Shame that crazy lady Amazon put in charge killed that version of the series. She has been fixated with getting their Game of Thrones and just threw tons of good money at bad projects nobody gives a shit about.

They killed the Pilot Program as well because of that. Gotta get the Big Names.

Maybe Jackson and Doc will be part of the next iteration. Show the likes of Harley Quinn how its done.

I do really wonder about the extent of his nigh invulnerability, remember when he handed off the reigns to the city to man eating cow after she ate chairface's hitmen? Would their nigh invulnerable raygun have hurt tick if it hit? Probably not but the story had them miss instead of him tanking it. The catchpa spells nuts.

i didn't like the pace of the amazon show. Like it moved through the jokes from the comic too fast. For example when Tick enters Arthur's apartment for the first time and starts looking for the lever to the secret lair. In the comic and the cartoon it's focused and is kind of a reoccuring joke. In the Amazon show it's literally ten seconds of Tick asking
    >where's the button to the secret hideout? This it?
and he breaks the coat hanger. And he looks like an butthole whereas the comic Tick genuinely thought Arthur had a secret entrance.

Another joke they speed through is when the Tick falls out a building and tries to jump off a flag only to break it. Again it's set up in the comic and has a great pay off. In the show it's literally the cold open and instead of seeing the flagpole waggle around he just jumps up and goes back upstairs. And there's no dialogue where he describes his train of "thought". He just reaches for the pole and snaps it.

They did a great job with The Terror though.

's the button to the secret hideout? This it?
      >and he breaks the coat hanger. And he looks like an butthole whereas the comic Tick genuinely thought Arthur had a secret entrance.
And the worst part of this is Tick fricking helps Arthur steal his costume. He spends the majority of the first episodes trying to convince Arthur to become a superhero. Why would he suddenly think Arthur has a hideout in his fricking apartment. Shit it's implied Tick has been following Arthur all his life! They changed too much.

I do like this cover of Basketcase though. It at least matches the show.
