Why did go from a nerdy franchise to a gay mouthpiece franchise in the recent years? And how do we fix it?

when and if this garbage fails, be sure to not let anyone forget what they did. always mock the past and demand better from the future, else they'll be romanticized and remembered fondly in 20 years as is the norm on Hollywood.

          >millionaires
This is such an outdated term now. Someone with a million dollars or two is upper middle class. It's when you reach the hundreds of millions that you begin to see the bottom rung of the elite. It's the billionaires and near-trillionaires you have to watch out for.

It is as you say. I think star trek by its very nature was the most susceptible show to be taken over.

A show for intelligent progressives that always considered itself on the right side of history, how were its writers supposed to accept they are the regressives now, that they are the bad guys now. Especially with all their female nerd friends that toootally love ST but think some of the episodes didn't age well.

Then the rest of the episode happens and it turns out that the Benkarans are being treated unfairly and that's why they're in prison at a higher rate and not because they're more prone to criminal activity. Wonder what they could have meant by that?

Except in the episode they focus on two of the prisoners and they're both murderers. They both admit it. It doesn't matter if you're looked at harsher than others if you actually are doing the crimes

      >he is competent and important to the ship
      >nobody makes it into a big thing, he is treated like everyone else, and in return he treats everyone the same way
Same goes for Uhura, Sisko, Sulu, Chekov (imagine having a russian steering the future space ship in 1968 and not really bringing any attention to it), and everyone else really. Star Trek managed to be diverse without being in your face, and it's called having some fricking class.

For all intents and purposes, intersectional feminism and gay pride are the new state religion among the upper middle class and academics in the West. Even people who don't actually believe in the state religion will feel peer pressured to at least pay lip service to it, perform all the proper rites and offer sacrifices. Hence the entire state of modern Western entertainment. Just as bards, writers and performers of previous ages were expected to adhere to Christian values, they are now expected to adhere to gay and feminist values.

Chuds have been crying about the current golden age of Star Trek for a decade where Paramount would literally do six shows at the same time but are now spooked that WB will take control and stuff the whole thing into a vault because they don't need another space IP after Dune and Babylon 5. Basically they monkey pawed this shit so hard they don't even know who to be mad at and the grifters that have been leading them by the nose can't even sell them on the idea that Trek getting put on ice for 15 years is fun times for everybody because nobody is going to be doing Trek films for a good while after the merger so welcome to the desert you all wanted so bad. Hope you enjoy the VR web shorts WB will finally produce in 2035.

All the old guard who cared about writing good shows retired. So all that replaced them were homosexuals and women from younger generations who brought along all their bullshit. It stopped being about imagining a better universe and all the interesting things we'd find out there, and instead became about turning that interesting universe into the bullshit we have here right now

These people who are writing Star Trek don't get it. They don't understand what Star Trek is suppose to be. They only care about turning it into something else entirely. The Orville is more accurate to Star Trek than any recent Star Trek show is, which is incredibly telling

Go watch TNG or DS9. It's been woke for a very long time. And nerds have always been spiritual gay hags.

The problem is that while it was written by red-diaper baby israelites in the ones you probably enjoy (TOS-DS9, maybe VOY and ENT), it was written by nerdy guys that genuinely loved the science fiction and proposing interesting thought experiments, like Darmok.

Now it's written by talentless broads with no love for the genre, who can't write some interesting thought experiment about the Planet of the Weirdos without solipsisticly inserting some grating girlboss.

Insecure fans talking loudly about how Star Trek was good because of "Gene's vision" and having "diverse casting" for the 60's, and other such patter, and other people then showing up to the party and thinking that was the core of what Star Trek was.

Star Trek was always really about the adventures, the military LARP, the naval style battles, the "man's man" characters who you wish were you, and the female eye candy.
Nerds who are already insecure about liking a corny sci-fi franchise from the 60's a little too much, will fight you to not have to admit to that though.
    >Nooo! It's bigger than that! Gene was a visionary, because said racism was bad in an era when everyone was saying racism was bad! It's important!
    Course it is, Melvin.
And 7 of 9 is important because she wears a cat suit, and needs a software engineer to teach her what sex is. I understand.

Nerds and queers are both used to being shunned by normal society. Thing is, they are inherently opposite in their interests. Nerds like to get invested in their hobbies as escapism. They like to engage with an interest on its terms. They learn all of the little bits of lore that they can, argue about the gaps, etc. It's inherently masculine and that's why the most famous nerd interests were overwhelmingly male.

Queers on the other hand are often inherently feminine. They seek to project themselves upon their interests. They will queerwash characters, create OCs that are queer in the same way they are (gay, lesbian, bi, Trans, etc). Their interests become identical to their other interests (i.e. their sexuality).

Nerds also are divided between those who demand credibility (the dreaded "gatekeepers") and those who empathize with others looking for friends. The latter, in their compassion, let queers quite literally queer up the many IPs that Nerds were into. However, what is more important than them is that nerds were never in control of their interests. It was the companies that produce their interests that invited queers and hired queers and hired radicals who took over on the creative level.

Here is the thing about nerds though: they are more than run-of-the-mill consumers. They will circle the tapes. They will torrent media. They will rip things off into legally distinct ways of continuing their hobby. And most importantly: nerds learn about and remember the tiniest minutiae of the farthest reaches of their hobbies.

"why" did you put quotes around the this place?
star trek is dead, an anon posted a solid explanation for what happened some days ago - something was bought or sold, people changed, it died, and was resurrected as a mess and has been on the downhill ever since.
same was done to dr. who - long dead since the 80s, then brought back only to desecrate its corpse by filling it with every abomination they can rake out of hell's hearth.

                >"why" did you put quotes around the this place?
                Because it was a quote.

You'll just have to take my word for it. If I try to explain that two plus two equals four to a dog, the dog will be as confused as you are, and not because of the explanation or the veracity of the statement. If something this simple "doesn't make any sense" for you, there's nothing I can write in a 4chins reply to help you out.

"you" did it again, but this time the quotes were around "doesn't make any sense" instead, why?
maybe you have a virus on your computer if you don't know why it is happening and you can phone tech support so they can help you fix it.
i don't think they can help you with your other problems thought, lol!

NTA, but every homosexual I've ever met has basically acted like a homosexual. The extremely performative limp wristing and the drama mongering and the obnoxious personality, all of it. I've only ever seen the reserved just-a-normal-guy homosexual in Hollywood films, but I've seen the stereotypical obnoxious homosexual dozens of times.

The answer is in the question. If there are gay men who act normal you wouldn’t have known you encountered a gay man. You’re literally mentally moronic my guy

"They exist, you just didn't see it, but I just know they do!"

If you say so. Sounds like the same sort of logic I hear from morons who believe in big foot, aliens, and gays who are able to go an entire conversation without making sure you know they're gay. The other possibility is that you're acting exactly as I describe, but so dense you don't realize how you appear to others. You sashay over and "heeeeeeeey" and think you're behaving normally.

Maybe that would make for a good Trek episode. The Federation has a holo-disguised duck blind set up to observe the native population, but the disguise has never worked, and the natives can see them plain as day. But the officers inside the duck blind are oblivious, and refuse to believe that they're plainly visible no matter how many times Barclay warns them.

Literally literally? You're literally literalling? You've let this website destroy your ability to communicate like a human being. You're unable to form sentences or communicate ideas without gay meme phrasing and barely reworded posts you've seen here over nine thousand times.

                >Writes a novel about closeted gay men
                Yeah this is projection

                >i-is that a small number of simple sentences?
                >oh god its a novel!
This is one of the many, many reasons that modern Trek can't succeed - modern audiences have the attention span of a gnat, and their general intelligence is even worse than that. If you wanted modern Trek to succeed, you would have to chop it up into a tiktok video, have Spock rap, and play it exclusively on phones.

all i remember from star trek as a kid is that it seemed like a twilight zone rip off where the characters are forced into some bizarro world moral dilemma that they have to solve and each of the characters had some rigid role to fill in the arguments. I wondered how my dad could watch something like this. is modern star trek still just a bunch of moral conundrums in space being solved by the enterprise crew?

Open mindedness is a virtue if tempered by good sense and critical thinking. And that was always at the center of Trek, and generically liberal thinking in general. But somewhere it mutated and flanderized into simply "open mindedness is a virtue" and became something dull and stupid. The people who have subverted Trek and used it to compel you to pretend that men are women are exactly the sort of person warned against when Picard is asked to say there are five lights. There is great psychological value in forcing a person to say untrue things that they know aren't true.

They've been looking to sell for years. The smaller studios need to Voltron or die to compete with Disney/Fox.
