No. Because I'll never watch it.

      season 2 is much worse

The minimal amount of season 1 I watched was unbearable. Genuinely some of the worst sci-fi writing I've ever seen, and it gets WORSE yet?

yes season 2 is disgusting, no lorca (only good thing in s1), michael becomes a time traveling space angel to battle an evil AI. They teach some alien farmers how to fly fighter ships(a few hours in a sim) So they can fight Evil AI in a pitched space battle.

Here's a minor plot point from season 2: Spock and Amanda Grayson were retconned as being dyslexic so Michael could look clever by realizing Spock wrote a set of spatial coordinates backwards.

I fully expect shitscovery to have an episode where they reveal that michael actually did ALL homework for Spock and that's why everyone thinks he's smart.
this is the level of writing I expect from nuTrek.

Would you settle for an episode where Spock's emotional remove is caused by Michael yelling at him when they're kids?

      Anonymous

The first season was the best season thanks to Lorca.
Mary Sue Michael really suffers from the shit writing in this show. A human raised as a vulcan could be an interesting character having unique perspectives/struggles but with Discovery it's just their way to shove her deep up legacy Trek's ass to make her Spock's adopted sister.

Not defending this because I've never watched it but wasn't a lot early Trek season 1 not that great?

Basically every Trek show is questionable on their first season, and improves from there.
But, STD was not just questionable, it was outright bad right off the bat. There are no good episodes.

Because they literally setup the groundwork for whats the become after, where as you compare to what we have now, the current star trek its still absolute shit than the early trek seasons.

No. All of ToS and TNG were great in season 1. DS9, Voyager, and especially Enterprise suffered a lot in season 1 though.

No, it’s that bad. I love Star Trek and don’t care how woke or whatever they go with it, STD is so horrifically and embarrassingly bad….it makes people like ENT. That’s how fricking bad it is.

Somehow putting family guy jokes into plagiarized episodes of TOS made a better Star Trek than Discovery did.

Orville sucks but it's the closest thing to TNG there is...MacFarlane built his entire career out of ripping off properties and adding in dick jokes.

While Discovery will remain dogshit no matter how much time passes, I do wonder on how we will look on this current era of awful tv and movies in the future. Like will we laugh about how shit things were, or will we say "oh yeah shit was awful then but still way better than what we have now".

I actually watched the first 3 seasons all the way through. It really is some of the stupidest shit ever put to screen. There's no subtlety to the writing at all. If a character is feeling sad or anxious you're absolutely gonna get a 5 minute monologue about it. Every character is a homosexual tripping over themselves to apologize or come to terms with inane personal drama and it's no surprise that it slows the show down so much that each season encompasses one whole mission. Now I'm not gonna shill this last season, no one is watching this show anymore and it's ending so what's even the point? BUT, I will say that this last season is actually a marked improvement over the previous seasons. There's still all the same bullshit, but a bit less of it because it's been 5 years and these frickers can't keep whining about the same bullshit, and at the same time there's a decent pace with a mildly interesting setup, and the new character, "a straight white male," is actually competent and compelling. Of course they had neuter him early on, but he's still pretty good and played by the guy that played Leoben in BSG.

tl;dr This last season might get a reappraisal at some point, but overall the show will still be shit. Call me a moronic shill now, but I guarantee in 5 or 10 years people will actually praise season 5 and say the show could've been something better or whatever.

no one memes about shitscovery. not even to mock it.
I don't think anyone actually watches it.

  24. 3 weeks ago

Yeah, no. This is like claiming the first season of TNG is actually a hidden gem. It's not. It's just plain fricking bad, and everybody skips 90% of it on rewatches.

Oh, you thought the turbolifts worked by alternately sliding through narrow shafts and corridors? Maybe on those other ships, but on the Discovery, they use a massive warehouse filled with rollercoasters.

  28. 3 weeks ago

Maybe but only by virtue of the fact that everything keeps getting worse and doesn't show any signs of stopping. So in 10 years this absolute garbage might seem OK in comparison to whatever toxic waste they'll be making.
