I unironically believe that while many of the directors are obsessed with uggos, Hollywood is just having a hard time finding attractive women who will do this shit for less than a million dollars.
Hot chicks have so many options, marry a rich guy, onlyfans, even cosplayers on instagram make comparable money to being an extra in hollywood. And none of those involve living in a godless hellole like LA or Atlanta and having to deal with the pill addicted fricks that work in the film industry or blood orgy rapists like harvey. Then if the movie does well you have to deal with contsant fricking media attention that we now know turns even gorgeous well put together women into suicidal zombies within a decade.
Attractive actresses use to be a dime a dozen in hollywood because it was seen as "every pretty girl's dream" to be a star. Now anybody with common sense wants nothing to do with it.

It also makes no sense whatsoever, because the movie clearly stated: "Only two there are, no more, no less." Darth Sidious and Darth Maul. Two Sith Lords. Darth Plagueis had to be dead. Maul was no sith lord just a mere tool for the real sith.

It still fits within the context. We cannot know what Sidious though or planned and a red, horned humanoid with sith tattoos is a bit of a weird choice for Sidious to have at his side in public.

              >Maul was no sith lord just a mere tool for the real sith.
Autism and fanfiction. Watch the movie before spewing out some moronic bullshit. Read less fanfiction. He is literally DARTH MAUL, LORD OF THE SITH. As opposed to, eh, Assaj Ventress, who is just Assaj Ventress, and NOT a Darth. He is DARTH, like DARTH SIDIOUS, DARTH TYRANUS and DARTH VADER. Lucas made it very explicitly clear that he was a real Sith Lord, and he never pretended otherwise or treated him as anything else.

Yes of course. Sidious says to Maul that he is a Sith lord and to Plagueis that he is The Wise. No Sith Lord would ever lie to get to their goal. Are you going to tell me he intented his apprendice Darth Tyrannus to beat him and take the mantle of master?
Darth Maul is Sidious cruel joke. A poor child who got groomed into an animalistic delusional hunter. Still he rose above what Sidious marked him.

No Sith tattoos. Sidious plan for the empire was to get the galaxy full of atheist a la Han Solo, having a guy with literal runes in his face seems moronic for that.

No, dude. Maul was just a failed apprentice. Simple as that.

My reasoning is that Sidous though "maybe he can be good apprendice and if not is just good to have a trained killer from birth that is loyal only to me". But he displayed none of the Sith best abilities (cunning, strategy, politics, tactics, huge raw power, ...)
But he was groomed to be a true apprendice like Vader.

There was no need in TPM to display that. That was not his goal. He did display them elsewhere. He was a Darth, a Sith Lord. I am waiting for you to prove otherwise from the films or using Lucas' words.

You're both idiots. Maul in the EU was a legitimate Sith apprentice, only Plagueis thought that he was merely an assassin, but even then he didn't care because he wanted to end the Rule of Two.

Palpatine tried to have Ventress killed exactly because he was afraid that Dooku would do exactly what he himself had done, which was groom an apprentice under his own master's nose until he was prepared to discard him.

                Anonymous

The difference is that Maul was DARTH Maul, he was a Sith Lord. Whereas Ventress was merely an assassin, an agent of Dooku. For Maul to be Darth, Plagueis had to be dead in TPM, for there can be only two Sith Lords. For Ventress to be Darth, Dooku and her would have to kill Sidious first. That's why she was never a Sith.

                Anonymous

What, are you moronic? The title is irrelevant. Plagueis didn't care since he was fine with the Rule of Two ending, and with Ventress whether or not she has the title also doesn't matter because the whole point of the Rule of Two was to stop internecine conflicts, which can still occur no problem if a Sith lord uses a totallynotforrealSith in a ploy to topple their master.

The Dark Side ending sets up George’s idea that the Sith ruled the galaxy for 1000 years. It would be infighting and frequent backstabbing that would cause their downfall, not a war between them and the Jedi.

            Anonymous

That's incorrect. Revan and Bane were supposed to appear to the Son, revealing that they were the ones manipulating him and plunging him into darkness. However, Lucas backed down, because the Sith cannot become spirits.

Darth Bane is the author of Rule of Two, which was confirmed later to Yoda.

George never played KOTOR he never had any plans to use anything from it. It's just Filoni lying to you.

              Anonymous

Of course. Lucas even said "There was never a war between Jedi and Sith, that's just made up by the fans or someone."

He told Filoni to find some two Sith Lords to corrupt the Son. Filoni brought him Revan and EU version of Bane. He approved it. They recorded dialogue and did a story reel, but then when George watched it, he said to cut it, because the Sith cannot become spirits.

Because he could afford it. Revenge of the Sith had 5+ hours of footage and massive reshoots at the very last moment, where Anakin's entire fall to the Dark Side had to be reshot in addition to the new scenes, like that one where he cries at the Jedi Council chambers, which was one of the latter additions. George has the mind of an editor, as he himself said. It's when you get the footage, play with it, when you get to see it that it starts to be clear whether it makes sense or not and whether you want to keep it or not. He always keeps tinkering, and he does not believe that a work is ever finished, which was his impetus for making Special Editions.

                >Tomorrow, more advanced technology will be able to replace actors with “fresher faces,” or alter dialogue and change the movement of the actor’s lips to match. It will soon be possible to create a new “original” negative with whatever changes or alterations the copyright holder of the moment desires. The copyright holders, so far, have not been completely diligent in preserving the original negatives of films they control. In order to reconstruct old negatives, many archivists have had to go to Eastern bloc countries where American films have been better preserved.

                >In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.

One is that when they die they generate a dark place like Yoda's cave, the other that they can become abominations of the dark side, mindless, dark souls deviant monstrosities twisted in eternal suffering. Because the Sith fear death more than anyone else.

Revan being a Sith there pretty much points to the Dark Side ending being the canon one. Dude’s a villain all the way.

it fits Lucas' vision where if you are evil you will remain evil. You can't shoot lightning out of your ass and be edgy and dark and also good and honorable. the dark side is so seductive precisely because there are no half measures. If there really was a way to stay between light and darkness and have all the advantages without falling victim to madness, there would be no Sith or fallen Jedi at all.

Revan as an avatar of the player who wants to have fun works, but in canon he makes no sense.

He shouldn't have licensed out the universe if he didn't want people to think that was the story. The same dumbass hubris led him to sell the franchise while thinking Disney would use his story treatments because of some gentleman's agreement with him being the creator.

Lucas considers only his films canon, but he has never stopped other writers from having fun. Typically writers were given a list of things they can't do, but beyond that he never wanted to limit anyone and in fact there are a lot of absurd things in the EU.

Pretty sure the prequel era is supposed to be the Old Republic, but some autist took the thousand generations line from ANH too seriously and ran with it. 1000 years was originally from the third draft of the movie, and Lucas eventually settled on that being the actual length of time for that era in the prequels.

    >Upon graduating college, Headland spent six years working as an assistant at Miramax, a year of which was spent as Harvey Weinstein's personal assistant.

    >Headland is gay and married actress Rebecca Henderson in September 2016.

    >Headland is openly gay, said in an interview with the Advocate she intends to use this series to see Star Wars through a “queer lens“:
    >“…there’s just no way that me being a queer woman is not going to be reflected in my work. I could try not to do it, but why would I? It just feels like a natural extension of what I do,” said Headland, adding “I think that because storytelling, at its core, is always going to come down to either the personal or emotional through-line to your characters, your identity is important. And like I said, mine is just going to be in my work, whether I’m explicitly dealing with it or not, it’s always going to be there.”

    >Jodie Turner-Smith, who is set to star in the Star Wars spin-off series The Acolyte, accused the Star Wars universe of being too male-centered and “patriarchal” during an event honoring the space epic and its dozens of spin-offs:
    >“My character, you know, she’s a powerful leader. She’s a powerful leader in a very woman-centered world, which I was very excited to kind of be in that because I feel like Star Wars is very patriarchal,” the actress opined. “So, it was kind of cool to have this sort of woman-centered figure.”
    >“And you know she’s really sort of going through a struggle because I mean that’s Star Wars, right? She’s really kind of like in this sort of quandary and that’s sort of her journey is to, to kind of go through this struggle between two ideas,” the actress added.

I understand it's not a textbook Mary Sue. I'm suggesting it's reminiscent of the same phenomenon, however. It's one of those art-imitates-life moments, where a woman is excused of her shitty behavior because she's a woman / is attractive / defies stereotypes / in the name of yaaaas queen, etc.

Mary Sues lack qualities but still have abilities. The characters I'm describing have negative abilities but are still regarded as having qualities. The inspiration for the phenomenon is the same.

          >If this was 20 years ago, you'd have DarkHorse comic run about them and a bunch of novels written.
This, Disney's content creation is fricking pathetic. And I think it has more to do with not wanting to step on toes than anything else. Circa 2007 you'd have almost the entire history of Baylan's time as a Jedi and Shin's backstory by now.

          Anonymous

Baylan's and Shin's characterization is limited, but of what can I say off the top of my head

          BAYLAN
          >Former Padawan. Probably a teen by the time of Order 66
          >Still reminisces of the peace under the Jedi
          >However, sees that the dark side is more powerful, and thus "converts" to it, while maintaining a chivalrous attitude.
          >Essentially the same as Dooku. Also played by a well-mannered old man

          SHIN
          >Impetuous
          >Probably saved by Baylan from inquisitors (If not his illegitimate child)
          >Almost puppylike loyalty to Baylan, with some briefs moments of independence
          >Doesn't know about the glory of the Jedi, and tends more to the unstability of the Dark Side (Or might as well be puberty)
          >cute

They are by far not flat characters. They have a potential that unfortunately is wasted on Disney

the only "good" things done under disney were the ones with minimal tampering. fallen order had decent characters and disney stubbirnly refuse to connect it to the shows that are front and center.

Fallen Order was lame and gay. Disney hasn't made a single good Star Wars videogame in 12 years. 1313, Darth Maul videogame and The Force Unleashed 3 died for this.

As opposed to Sekiro/Tomb Raider/Uncharted clone starring lame ginger homosexual and his cutesy disney droid pal? Yeah, right. I will take an M-rated Boba Fett game on Coruscant any day of the fricking week. Even music is better than anything in fricking Jedi Fallen Order.

The Inquisitors are still dumb as hell though. Vader’s job during the 20 years between RotS and ANH was to hunt and kill Jedi. So why the hell is he outsourcing to those chucklefricks? They frick up all the time. These guys made more sense when they were a product of the power vacuum left behind by the deaths of both Vader and the Emperor. because there's an entire galaxy of ground to cover and it's useful to take jedi/padawans and mindbreak them to cover more ground, if they succeed in killing a jedi it's mission accomplished, if they frick up and die it's no loss because they were just mindbroken jedi/padawans anyway

The people in power, the elites, obviously don't want to make something people like. Something that is successful. They want to demoralize. They want to provoke, aggravate, and cause division. >Cinemaphile likes it
Not true. Lukewarm at best, depending on the episode.
      >Why
Because the show is pretty mediocre and boring. A few Crosshair episodes don't quite make up for 80% of bullshit. This show was bait and switch. They advertised a misfit commando squad in the Imperial era doing cool shit, but then they pulled some random kid no one asked for out of their ass, and it became a babysitting show with boring ass monster of the week and treasure hunt filler missions. And they are still doing this in S3. The plotting of this show is so milquetoast, bland, unimaginative and uninspiring, it just hurts. It's almost worse than Rebels. Characters are also not that interesting, other than Crosshair.

Steal key plot points of the movies and repackage them slightly with shittier designs, but still recognizable enough so you could bank on the instantly recognizable Star Wars visuals from the movies, even if it makes no fricking sense, since KotOR is supposedly taking place 4,000 years before the movies, yet it looks exactly like PT and OT and has the same fricking tech.

Every time Disneyshills try to get people excited about their latest DEIslop, I go and buy a mint condition EU novel or comic I missed when I was a kid secondhand. Not only will I not watch your shit, I will enjoy *real* Star Wars instead *and* ensure your mousefricker masters get nothing for it.

The best part of these threads is knowing that out in the real world, beyond Cinemaphile and twitter, most fans don't give a shit about Disneywars. They don't despise it the way many here do, but they certainly aren't hyped by it or excited for next product. I joined a new gaming club when I moved last year, and within two months I had the zoomers playing WEGD6 instead of Legion with 3D printed minis and reading Tales of the Jedi comics because there's just nothing compelling or captivating about Disneywars to anyone who isn't a paid shill or a DEIhomosexual who thinks "decolonising nerd franchises" or whatever is Important Work. All it takes is showing them the alternative.

The moment Disney accepts reality and dials back their output nuWars will drop dead on the spot, because the vast majority of people don't even care enough to hate it.
