Star Wars

Is there any hope for the future of the franchise? Mandalorian was saving it and then they fired Cara Dune because wokeness.

That's okay. She has a new western movie out that I'm sure everyone loves, especially anti-woke people. They love strong female characters.

no, they fired that actress because she was saying unhinged and moronic shit on social media and deserved to be fired for sheer stupidity

    How to fix Star Wars:
    >invent time travel
    >convince a younger George to compromise with Gary Kurtz on RotJ and retire shortly afterwards to focus on his family like he wanted
    >let the brand hibernate for the next decade or so (no books, toys, etc.) until the prequels bring it back into public consciousness
    >give each prequel movie a different director (Howard for 1, Cameron for 2, Mangold for 3)
    >get in touch with Genndy Tartakovsky to make the Clone Wars animated series to tide fans over until the sequels
    >give each sequel movie a different director (Abrams for 7, Johnson for 8, Trevorrow for 9)
    >get in touch with Tony Gilroy and Jon Favreau to make a live-action Underworld series
    >no Ewoks
    >no Jar Jar
    >no midichlorians
    >no trade disputes
    >no Mannequin Skywalker
    >no chosen one prophecies
    >no wooden dialogue/performances
    >no Filoni (especially no Ahsoka)
    >and no special editions
    Any questions?

You lot are why we are in this situation to begin with. Your 15+ years of shit throwing over the PT gave us the ST. Lie in the bed you made, rat.

Your shit throwing over TLJ gave us TRoS and more Filoni.

        1. Stop making a million shows and movies in the same small time span
        2. Decanonize the sequels and try again
        3. Give each entry some room to breathe between releases

They're never going to erase Carrie's final performance.

I'd try to recycle her footage in the first movie if I was in charge.

Decanonize the prequels while you're at it too

If I had the means I'd reboot the franchise entirely, only keeping ANH and ESB mostly intact.

I would redo ROTJ so that it would be the Wookies instead of the Ewoks to give Chewbacca an actual arc, also place Han and Lando together in the Millenium Falcon where they make up and reignite their friendship after the latter's betrayal. Have Steven Spielberg direct it too, watch the box office explode.

Leia is fricking dead IRL, same for others, Han Solo doesn't give enough of a shit to get unkilled

Recycle Carrie's footage from the sequels into this new trilogy, do it for Harrison too if he doesn't want to show up again. There is also CGI, deepfake and AI as options but those can be very controversial to use.
Or even, recast the characters since all the remaining ones might be dead once this oportunity ever arrives. It's not like they went back in time to get a young Alec Guinness and David Prowse to play the characters in the prequels anyway.

How much can they reuse with Harrison Ford anyways? Most of it is him interacting with Rey or getting fricking killed by Kylo Ren. Even the footage interacting with Leia is tainted by that shit storyline.

Believe me, The one time I rewatched that shit on tv, I was wondering all along how much I could edit out to make a watchable movie.

            >I was wondering all along how much I could edit out to make a watchable movie
I've thought of many ways to edit the prequels into better movies (and many have gone forward with that), but I can't think of anything about the sequels. Those movies are unsalvageable. The best idea I can think of is to wait for the next few live action projects to get finished (mainly Mando and Ahsoka) and try to frankenstein them into a sequel movie somehow.

Isn't that what they're already doing with Dave Filoni's movie that supposed to be a big crossover finale event for the Mandoverse?

I've just accepted that Mandalorian s1/s2 sort of is the only sequel.

I understand it. While the Ahsoka show has a ton of flaws, alongside The Mandalorian they both feel sad to watch because they are a glimpse into what the sequels could have been. I guess I'll try reading the Thrawn trilogy comics some day.

A fanservice clusterfrick that requires you to watch 11 seasons worth of children's cartoons just to understand or feel anything?

I haven't watched Ahsoka or Book of Boba Fett, but season 2 of Mandalorian was already showing signs of more interference, like every other episode was a Strong Female OC episode. The only thing I managed to watch past s2 was half of the Obi-Wan show.

They tried using CGI and AI to replace Mark Hamill and it was fricking terrible, even ignoring all the controversy around it, it just sounds and looks like shit.

You're a complete moron if you think Cara fricking Dune is the problem.

Filoni's waifu fixation is the fricking problem. He's taking a franchise in the toilet and shitting on top of it, and they just promoted him so he'll have input on the fricking movies most likely.

First season of Mandalorian is good, but it must not be because of Filoni. It must have been Favreau and Rodriguez.

Kathleen Kennedy's woke gang is far from innocent either, though. Hell there's also the issues coming from Disney in general to begin with. It was a miracle that Mandalorian was decent to begin with.

      >Favreau
You mean the guy who wrote the entirety of Book of Boba Fett and Mandalorian S3?
      >Rodriguez
You mean the guy who was not involved with S1 at all, the guy who directed the worst episode of S2, and the guy who directed the worst episodes of Book of Boba Fett?

What I would do if I was George Lucas
    >Retire the Star Wars films after Revenge of the Sith
    >Don't sell to Disney
    >Clone Wars runs its natural course (Ahsoka dies at the end too)
    >Instead create three SW TV Shows that come out one after the other ends to avoid fatigue
    >The Mandalorian, Andor, and The Acolyte (or basically just a Sith TV show)
    >No Mandoverse or guest TCW characters, the shows remain mostly standalone with their stories
    >Once the last show ends, wait a few years before releasing the entire franchise to the public domain

George Lucas would never make something like Andor and he probably wouldn't make a show like the acolyte either.

He was trying to do his own gritty grounded SW show with Underworld (though I believe he probably would have ended up producing something on par with TBOBF).

George Lucas wouldn't make a show like BOBF because he wouldn't make a show if he didn't have a story to tell and also he gives a shit about visuals so it wouldn't look as shit too.

            >because he wouldn't make a show if he didn't have a story to tell
What the frick was the story to be told with Palpatine's proposed origin where he gets screwed by a biker woman and becomes an incel?
            >also he gives a shit about visuals so it wouldn't look as shit too.
The prequels looked like shit, mostly because it dove into new digital technology that hadn't been refined yet. That's exactly how I feel about the Volume Stagecraft (which I recall was the technology that George was trying to create to cheaply produce Underworld).

The prequels aged like shit, but at the time were fricking revolutionary. No one thought they looked like shit in the theater.
