JJ Abrams is a good choice to direct. His Start Trek movies felt more like Star Wars, and at the very least it'll be better than the prequels.
I really didn't like Into Darkness, but it would have made more sense as a Star Wars movie. Like imagine the Spock Kahn fight at the end is a lightsaber fight. The guy didn't get Star Trek, but I agree, he gets star wars.
You know this guy directed two of the sequels and all 3 sucked right? Better than the prequels is something most indie directors can achieve.
Of all the new cast, I think the only one I'm not sure about is Adam Driver. Unfortunately I can see him getting lost in the shuffle and being forgotten. The others seem fantastic and will no doubt create lovable characters
o wow Andy Serkis!
He will play a wise cracking talking animal in the style of Rocket Racoon named Kino Loy
I love tall blonde women like Gwendolyn and Liz Debicki.
Can't wait to see Luke, Han and Leia reunited on-screen. Also Adam Serkis is a great character actor, I'm sure he'll get lots of screen time
>Can't wait to see Luke, Han and Leia reunited on-screen
This. Honestly, they could do pretty much anything else (though realistically how bad could a mainstream megacorp like Disney really make it? They'll just churn out 3 fine but forgettable and cliched blockbusters) but just seeing these 3 all together again on screen will be worth the price of admission
DEWD THIS IS GONNA....ROCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
It can't miss! I can't wait for Han Solo and Luke to be saving the galaxy again against Grand Admiral Thrawn!
I bet the new girl becomes Luke's wife. Good for him!
BASED, can't wait to see Admiral Thrawn's genius on the big screen
wow max von sydow, he probably will be new main villain in all three movies!
Is there any doubt? It'd be an utter waste to cast the likes of him if they were only going to have him get offed like a stormtrooper in the first scene of the first movie. haha that'd be so lame, but Lucas gave Disney his blessing and Kathleen Kennedy is overseeing it all!
I think things will be all right, man.
I wouldn't worry too much. George hand-picked his successor to run Lucasfilm. Check out Kathleen Kennedy's producer credits on IMDB, she produced some of the best movies of the last 30 years!
She was even one of the dancing girls in Temple of Doom. Yeah, I'm thinkin the sequels are gonna be based.
holy freaking crap! finally we'll get good sequels instead of those shitty prequels.
RLM is gonna love this!
I'm tired of this revisionist history with Star Wars. The prequels were depised by everyone except little kids when they came out. And EVERYONE was beyond excited for the Force Awakens and happy that George Lucas had no involvement. When Force Awakens came out everyone loved it. Nerdrotic loved it, Geeks and Gamers loved it, Cinemaphile loved it, reddit loved it, everyone was excited for where the story was going. Now we're at this point where everyone pretends they hated Force Awakens and always hated Disney Star Wars, it's such a fricking lie, I was here, I remember it, I remember Star Wars fever in 2015/early 2016. The fanbase was united more than ever and eager for more. Never forget the truth Cinemaphile. No matter how many of you homosexuals try to deny it, this was how it happened.
>The prequels were depised by everyone except little kids when they came out
you are full of shit or underage.
just like the prequels i never watched it tho
Either bait or zoomer
>I'm tired of revisionist history
>Immediately goes into full revisionist mode
Force awakens was mocked as soon as they showed the cross guard light saber in the trailer you dumb homosexual and then when it came out besides ~~*critics*~~ everyone only talked about how it was just a rehash of A New Hope.
>I'm tired of this revisionist history with Star Wars
>When Force Awakens came out everyone loved it.
>The prequels were depised by everyone except little kids when they came out
This is true.
>I remember Star Wars fever in 2015/early 2016. The fanbase was united more than ever and eager for more.
This is false.
>This is true.
Incorrect.
>This is false.
Sustained.
People seem to forget that the prequels were so despised that Revenge of the Sith was the first Star Wars movie to not be the highest grossing film of the year it premiered in, which was a big fricking deal at the time.
Why are you lying?
Because it's fun and I want people to waste time looking it up
They were certainly not widely despised, maybe among the manchildren who were mad George Lucas didn't make the exact same movie that would make them feel like a child again. That type of hate was personified by pic related untalented midwits, who are only capable of making the worst trash yet think they can understand movies better than George Lucas.
Can you provide any evidence that they were widely despised ? Because the internet wasn't so widespread at the time I guess we can look at "Cinemascore" which is A- for all the prequels. This is a good score. Spider-man 2 got the same score too.
Hey genius, that only megafranchise Harry Potter could beat it that year doesn't tell me that people despised these movies are you fricking stupid ? See Fantastic Beasts for what two mediocre movies people don't like can do to the box office.
>was personified by pic related untalented midwits
Forgot pic
>trying to gaslight Cinemaphile in its own board
>thinking it will work or that anybody will fall for it
are you a a Disney writer?
Sorry anon but RotS was the best critically rated SW movie ever before RLM and rereleases struck back.
>Cinemaphile loved it
The trailer reveal was a Black person sweating in close up as the first shot.
It was endlessly memed and that week was rife with "I was wrong, come back george" type posting .
Prequel appreciation threads had a renaissance and we talked long and hard about quigon count Dooku and anakin skywalker
The sequel backlash started because it had a female lead and came out after Gamergate. It never had anything to do with the movies themselves.
>That smile
She is barren and also a talentless britbong who stars in a movie with terrible script, bad aesthetics, zero sex appeal and horrible editing.
Why should I care about this woman?
The films would have been a success if Rey was a nudist.
isn't your narrative usually that it's anything but wokeness that makes movies/franchises suck
I wish he had less teeth and more tit meat.
But I guess the same is true of all women.
Was there anyone with any integrity who called out Force Awakens for the trash that it was at the time ?
To be honest for myself I watched it in cinema once and didn't think about it too often. The culture war around The Last Jedi was much more fun to follow. Still haven't seen Rise of Skywalker
It was superficially enjoyable if you didn't think too hard about it.
It had zero depth - emotional or story or setting.
The moment that got me the most was the bit when the planets blew up, and they're all watching it happen from another planet.
That dragged me out straight away. They didn't care because they assume most of the audience is unaware of how big space is and how it actually works. But surely actual SW and sci-fi fans ARE aware. I don't expect 100% realism in SW of course but that was just lazy and even contemptuously done.
That's the exact moment I also walked away to sort laundry or some shit like that. I came back later to watch the rest of it but it was a rare moment of totally losing interest.
I quit SW completely during the next movie when they started dropping bombs on a star destroyer... in space.
I followed the whole production process of TFA on daily basis back in 2013-2014 and know it was going to be shit the moment I saw leaked script.
It was ANH but with moronic new details and zero of what ANH was loved for.
It fundamentally wasnt going to work as the start of franchise.
You don't start it with Luke being a failure, Republic being weaker than terrorist organization and no one telling Kylo Ren that Anakin was redeemed.
I watched movie in theatre and didn't change my opinion. I hoped TLJ will salvage what it could but instead it made moronic story even more moronic in different way.
People fell for Abrams israeli tricks. What he did was make it appear that this story was going something that these characters would get some sort of payoff down the line so you would tune for the next episode just like it's a tv show.
Then Rian Johnson was tied to all these loose plot threads he had to resolve and took all the blame when the answers weren't satisfying enough. He couldn't retroactively make Force Awakens a good movie.
This is when israelite Abrams either got too greedy or really thought he was a good filmmaker and he could save this mess. At least we got some justice and people saw him for the hack that he was. No one blames just Rian Johnson anymore
Why in the FRICK wouldn't you at least OUTLINE a multimillion-billion dollar trilogy franchise?
It's hard to piece together what happened. A lot of different people involved have given different contradictory statements.
From what this youtuber was able to piece together, George Lucas gave Disney an outline of his plan for the sequels and was going to be creatively involved in the process. They hired a writer to write a script for George's Ideas ( Michael Arndt ). But they had a hard time finding a director, no one wanted to direct it. JJ already turned it down once. He accepted the second time they asked him though. Being the only high profile director who wanted to take on the role of directing the thing, his voice mattered the most because Disney wanted a movie by 2015 and this project had to get started. However JJ didn't like the George Lucas treatment of his own franchise, JJ thought he could do it better. So Lucas was phased out, his treatement was thrown out, Micheal Ardnt left, and JJ and Kasdan wrote TFA from scratch in a hurry even when the movie was in pre-production. Sometimes they would write on the sets. So they barely had enough time to write one movie, let alone three.
>Disney wanted a movie by 2015
>JJ thought he could do it better
>wrote TFA from scratch in a hurry
>they would write on the sets
Jesus Christ.
They clearly assumed audiences would consume any old slop so long as it had the SW label on it. They were right, but diminishing the brand meant the pull of that label became less and less.
JJ was lucky RJ eclipsed his moronation, otherwise he would be the most hated director on the internet
tfa was a mess right up until release. colbert references jj being a wreck 2 weeks before release in this interview for episode 9
?feature=shared&t=194
>jj being a wreck 2 weeks before release
good. FRICK that guy
>When Force Awakens came out everyone loved it
have a nice day
I thought it was superficially entertaining for the weekend.
But after my normie friends and coworkers wouldn't stop with glowing appraisals about how it was LITERALLY THE BEST STAR WARS MOVIE EVER, I joined the threads and gradually began to hate it.
How is that wrong?
Kino
>Ben kills Han Solo
>Do not watch these films. You will thank me later.
Wat?! You're on crack! Shut the frick up. They'd NEVER do something so outlandishly foolish.
Didn't Star Wars end with the prequels? Sounds like a soulless cash grab that will mess up the Star Wars timeline
I heard the lead is a dejected Stormtrooper that learns he has the force and becomes a jedi under Luke, such a cool idea. And a female Han supporting character? Sign me up!
I made this post as a joke in 2017 and mods banned me for 3 days for not spoiler tagging it
>in 2017
Do you mean 2015?
Nope, you read the correct date
haha wow.
Maybe you should have followed the rules. And also, not complain. Just sayin'.
>Lupita
Got excited for a second but then I remember she plays an ugly yellow alien with butthole eyes.
I'd Lupita her Nyongo if you catch my drift.
Jesus FRICKING CHRIST THAT ASS MUST LOOK AMAZING WHILE
YOURE POUNDING HER DOGGYSTYLE
Who is Ben?
Luke's son, who he named after his mentor
Bend down and suck deez nuts
Obi-Wan Kenobi, moron. They're bringing him back, but obviously he's not killing Han because Harrison Ford has a contract that stipulates he's going to be in ALL THREE sequels.
Ben dover
uncle ben he makes rice
haha
Not anymore. Uncle Ben was a racist stereotype that did untold damage to Black and Brown bodies. He's been replaced.
Kinos about soulless decisions?
I'm from the future. This is nothing more than a cash grab by Disney, a misandrist b***h named Kathleen Kennedy, and her lap top beta male israelite cronies. Their goal is to turn Star Wars into another Disney anti-white, anti-men girl brand.
Fortunately, the audience caught on, but not before they actually made money with this trash. Don't waste your time.
Psssh lol meds. AS if Disney can fail with STAR WARS. Plus Kathleen Kennedy is BASED. Do you even read?
Get fricked.
Kathleen Kennedy is why I have hope for this. She worked with Lucas before and has produced tons of classic movies, she'll make sure it's true to Lucas's vision.
Golden times, ahead, fren.
They've been longtime friends and colleagues since the 80s. When you think about it, George Lucas named Luke Skywalker after himself, so Kennedy will give George's creation the respect he deserves
Even if this is true I'm sure it'll still be better than the schlock Lucas shat out.
lol, crazy conspiracy theorist here
we are going to wait in line all night to be the first to go see this modern masterpiece
Han, and Luke and Leia, just the old times
fricking Lando and Chewie in the Millennium Falcon
I cant fricking wait
>Carrie Fisher
how?
kek, I was wondering too until I read OP more closely
Luckily I wasn't stupid enough to actually post that question
Disney has a large "candy" supply with which to lure the Fisher.
Disney coke mines reopened.
>STAR WARS EPISODE 7 CAST ANNOUNCED
Did I just step into a time warp?
What do you mean? We've been waiting for part 7 for decades.
Episode 9 came out 5 years ago where I'm from and the whole sequel trilogy is shit. Don't get invested, anon, just skip the whole thing and thank me later.
>IX already came out
back to /x/ with you
meds
lol, they just fired up the CERN reactor again today
maybe you are from a lost timeline
Shit who is Sydow playing? A sith?
Is there any doubt?
Imagine an old Sith Lord played by him
Doubt they would cast him just just to be in the movie for less than a minute
KINO
So who are the villains?
I hope it's the Yuuzhan Vong.
They recast Obi-Wan? I mean Max von Sydow does look like him...
>Doesn’t have pronouns
Fabricated and queer
daisy is so fricking cute
Thank God the guy who created Star Wars isn't in charge of Star Wars anymore. Now the possibilities are endless.
i don't have much time i am from the future and disney ruins all of star wars'
they make another death star and even bring back palpatine
and even worse they-a395u gw
is it confirmed its gonna be a trilogy?
if so, I'm sure they have everything planned out, and will open a lot of the post-VI timeline for great ideas to explore in the expanded universe
man I'm so in for this star wars renaisance
>spoilers
great now ill never watch the sequels
Seems like a promising cast and it's exciting that they got the original trio. Pretty excited to see what role Serkis plays. I'm cautiously optimistic.
John Williams fricking better be back. Also, is Doug Chiang still around? Let him work on the art design.
I can't wait for the charismatic vilains and sick lightsaber duels. Imagine how incredible it could be now. Also we're going to see grandmaster Luke ? Holy shit.
This casting does not deter me from watching this movie, since its 2015 and my Fatigue has not yet built up to the level of hair-trigger rejection that it might have by, say, 2023.
>Max von Sydow in Star Wars
Fricking kino. Do you think he'll play a Jedi survivor or some old Imperial holdout commander?
Reddit thread.
Yeah
i loved it
it was everything I hoped it would be
>JJ Abrams should direct the sequels and George Lucas should direct people to their seats in the theater.
RLMsisters? Our response?
>Our response?
I don't have one that won't sound mad
In their defense, they do specify direct, not write and produce. Kinda like how Villeneuve was a great choice to direct 2049, but they hired that moron hack Fancher to write the same fricking story, again.
>In their defense
No.
I wonder how this israelite feels knowing he destroyed the greatest movie series to ever exist.
Georgie always wins, RLMkeks btfo
oh wow, I have really high hopes for this. This is going to be great.
I am really excited about Han and Luke coming back, just like the good old days
>Max von Sydow
Holy KINO. And you guys were worried
>Domhnall Gleeson
What do you think? Is he playing Luke's son?
please just have a fricking plan and stick to it...
Daisy should do rom coms. I think she would be sweet in them.
