Disneyslopification of movie/tv titles is so bad at this stage that i fully expect it to be called “The Mandalorian and Grogu” on release. They couldn’t think of anything besides Obi Wan’s name for his show

You mean the show about the imperial officer who was gay & lame & diverse & a chick?

Kenobi or Kenobi: A Star Wars Story would've worked much better. One of the books pre-buyout had that title and was also a much better story. It was a western with Kenobi as the guy who wanders in.

The setting and plot of the book was well done. no time skip, immediately after Revenge of the Sith. Sure Obi-wan has to return to Polis Massa, but the Kenobi novel is really about him turning into "Ben Kenobi".

        imagine
        >s1: kenobi novel; epilogue/after credits scene is the Rise of Lord Vader ending in which Kenobi realizes Vader Survives and Qui Gon talks to him for the first time.
        >s2 the Polis Massa mission
        >s3 the A'Sharad Hett fight

I am extremely autistic and wanted two Obi-Wan movies titled "Old Ben" so we could say OB1 and OB2

      >“The Mandalorian and Grogu”
Actually, the way their advertisement works, it would be "The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda", because almost all Grogu merchandise is bought by women who dont even like star wars and would never bother to remember the name

It will bomb so hard. Nobody going to do “homework” and watch the series to understand the movie. This is why Doctor Strange 2 underperformed. Nobody going to watch Wandavision to see a movie

I did my homework but I won't watch it because I am done with this. Any good points about this show were ruined by the 2nd season.

Not only that, but they weren't even consistent with each other because the writers of Doctor Strange didn't bother watching Wandavision (these are the same people who went on strike demanding higher pay, just in case you forgot)

        >Normal people like Star Wars.
They did once upon a time. Zoomies wouldn't know but the original trilogy was insanely popular back in the day. People screaming in theatres when Emps zapped Luke, stuff like that.
It's a different time now. Normal people don't care about Star Wars anymore, courtesy of the sequels killing it. Imagine releasing a HAN SOLO movie and it terribly flopping because nobody wants to go see it after TLJ.

            >It did much better than Solo.
Not really. Solo was a flop but it cost a lot less money to make. Rise of Skywalker making a billion barely counts because it was a far, far more expensive movie to make. The production budget, advertising budget, cost of prints, the massive reshoots, the back end payments, cinemas taking a big chunk of the BO, etc. TROS did better because it wasn't financially a loss of money overall, but that kind of movie was originally supposed to make billions not barely make back its costs.

              Anonymous

Doesn't change the fact a lot people went to see the conclusion of the trilogy.

              >And yet people went to see TROS
It did one BILLION DOLLARS less than TFA. ONE. BILLION. Literally cut its audience in half.

And, even worse, it lost money. You think that an exaggeration, but no. It cost 400 million dollars to make and had a media blitz on the level of Endgame, and it couldn't even beat Joker. And this was a Star Wars mainline movie, the end of a trilogy, and it couldn't even manage Joker levels of money. For 400 million dollars. Every movie did worse than the last. The shows are bombing left and right. The toys are rotting.

Face it, they did more damage in 5 years than 20 years of nothing new coming out.

              >It did one BILLION DOLLARS less than TFA. ONE. BILLION. Literally cut its audience in half.
TESB and ROTJ did half of ANH.
              >And, even worse, it lost money.
              Wrong (pic related)
              >The shows are bombing left and right.
Mandalorian season 3 was the most successful streaming show of 2023.
              >The toys are rotting.
Still on the toys argument? Kids nowadays buy Fortnite skins. Star Wars is always on the Fortnite shop and according to the Epic leaks it's the most profitable crossover after Marvel.
              >Face it, they did more damage in 5 years than 20 years of nothing new coming out.
And yet the biggest flop of the series was the Clone Wars movie.
Meanwhile you have things like the new Lego game and Jedi Survivor selling like hotcakes.

Star Wars is doing better under Disney than during the post-prequels era.

Only 275M for production expenses? I smell some israelite accounting there but that's just me being biased. In the end that's their flagship project for the year, thank god they had the parks to fall back on before covid hit.

Ok, Lucas has a contract that stated a price: 4B.
How is the 60-85B valuation calculated? Did Disney pay some ~~*consultants*~~ to give them a rating so the stock price doesn't fall? Jesus you guys are stupid. I can flip your argument easily: if Disney didn't frick up the IP beyond recognition it would be worth 800 billion. Source? My butthole.

Yeah, its that's typical Hollywood accounting for you. No way it's worth that much that much in actual dollars, just "theoretical" in terms of how much its generated over time. The actual "cash on hand" is different. From merchandising, licensing, video games, home video releases, not just box-office revenue. Not to mentioned that money gets split and divided many different ways. Technically according to wikipedia, Pokemon is worth more at 88 billion. Most of that comes all of the fricking cards and games and shit we all made our parents buy for us as kids.

And yet the dummies on facebook will fall for the "big numbers" fallacy all over
            >80 billion is a lot of money
            >40b is leveraged assets
            >3B is profit
            >Less than 1B is free flow cash
But hey, "big numbah go up!!!1!. It reminds me of the Shazam poster over Cinemaphile that tried in 2022 to explain how CDProjectRed lost money by deducting the total costs of the company from the profit of Cyberpunk 2077. I'm not asking anons to be financial experts just not disingenuous.

Just fricking call it The Mandalorian. Why are they so shit at names? Book of Boba Fett should've been "Boba Fett" or just "Fett". Falcon and the Winter Soldier should've just been "Falcon" or Captain America: The Series.

Book of Boba Fett should have been cancelled before release is what it should have been. Or at least call in a Star Wars fan to try and build a compelling tale around Boba, instead of just letting pink haired people who have never consumed any SW material write it.

Mando was the only Star War podruct I still watched and I'm done with it, I wont even watch Andor season 2 if it ever comes out.
