Star Wars Undertakes Universe-Shaking Changes After Ahsoka
Dave Filoni has a new mission in the Star Wars universe after guiding Rosario Dawson’s Force-wielding hero to distant celestial realms in the first season of Ahsoka. The writer-producer-director, who started out working alongside George Lucas on the animated Clone Wars show nearly two decades ago, has ascended to a new position at Lucasfilm—one that will give him input into all the galactic storytelling going forward.
“Now I’m what’s called chief creative officer of Lucasfilm,” Filoni tells Vanity Fair, which places him into the development process much earlier and in a much more expansive capacity than his previous advisory duties. “In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways.”
Filoni will now work more directly with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and alongside Carrie Beck, a veteran producer turned head of development, to originate and shepherd the next generation of Star Wars shows and movies. After spending many years involved in the creation of Star Wars animation, including the Rebels series, he became increasingly involved in live-action as a producer with Jon Favreau on the The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. “In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on,” Filoni says. “When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.”

It's very bad. The terrible Boba fett and asohka shows are his babies. He is a yes man furry married to a satanist who is obsessed with space wolf's. His writing of thrawn shows he has no understanding of the source material, or ability to write good villains. The clone wars cartoon was good because he had to answer to Lucas. Rebels was filoni unchained. He's not good.

I get that the in-universe explanation of this, that they have repulsorlifts in their saber hilts, makes perfect sense and is tactically advantageous

Even if his ideas suck, at least we’ll avoid the unfocused tug of war mish mash that was the sequel trilogy. Star Wars really needs a unifying vision in lieu of George Lucas. Hopefully he won’t be given unmitigated power and people will be able to question him when he starts to go off the rails.

Never saw the appeal in either KOTOR game. But I'm not much of an epic gaymur.
There was no tug of war on the sequel trilogy until people raged about TLJ. Disney tried to appeal these people by "course correcting" in TROS, which clearly was a mistake because the same people still raged about the movie.
Probably good, but to a marginal extent. He was already one of the most prominent voices at Lucasfilm and has been directly tied to some of the worst habits of Disney's Star Wars (like the grating levels of interconnection and cameos).
I spot on Dave Filoni since beginnings of the Clones War. If I see him in person I will beat him with my shoe.

Star Wars is completely dead after Ahsoka. They trotted out Thrawn and Anakin like zoo animals, hoping the audience would be wowed by the sheer exoticism of them both. I've seen videos on Youtube trying to "analyze" their scenes, making up meanings for what are clearly just cameos to please EU and r/prequelmemes fans. There's no future.

This is a pay raise to keep him around and a new line for his resume and nothing else. He has gained the power to send people emails. Kathleen is still the shot caller over there.
Seems more like the Peter Principal in action given the Ahsoka show and Mando S3 being the Bo-katan show.
