There is a 1 billion percent chance they're going to ruin it with a whole bunch of woke bullshit starting with some annoying DEI checklist lead like a lesbian sheboon heading up the SG-1 team.
I don't know shit about Stargate but I assume when you're opening portals to other dimensions you probably don't want shadows to be all around you and want it to be bright as possible so weird malevolent shit doesn't materialize in the dark.
>Stargate reboot is looking good
Post proof.
>another show that will be filled with laughable woke shit and will cost an obscene amount of money that tanks after a season
How much longer do we have to deal with this? If there is a "message" no one is clearly listening. Why don't israelites find a new way to push their propaganda? I thought they were good with money?
>opening portals to other dimensions
It's not other dimensions, just other locations. That said, sometimes things go wrong.
I mean it was a throwaway line for fun. I think it's more fun to imagine how much worse it could get rather than getting hung up on things
Maybe the next address was inside a cluster of Replicators. The Aschen did have multiple worlds under their control and I think at least of few stargate addresses but they were all local to their sphere of influence

There was that one Stargate Atlantis episode where they happen upon a Daedalus from an alternate universe and it jumps through universes until Rodney can figure it out and jump them back to their Universe. I don't know if the writers could keep it fresh but I always thought that would make for a great Stargate series.
Time travel is too problematic a plot device, because once you introduce it there's no logical reason why the SG team shouldn't just immediatly jump back in time to the begining of the show, >give them all the tech they'd acquired during the show >tell them what planets to avoid, where they should go, etc. >save characters from dying >avoid all pitfalls, make the show super boring by avoiding all struggles
it would negate the need for the whole story, they are better off just avoiding it all together

The show worked because the cast was comfy and they had a sarcastic humor about the scifi nonsense.
They already tried a grimdark reboot with the “we can be Battlestar Galactica too” SGU. It sucked and died, killing the franchise. >ablooboohoo you can’t just make comfy sci fi comedy with flat tv lighting anymore
Ok then let it stay dead. Stop trying to reanimate every corpse. Star Trek Picard and the cry every episode show just took a steamy dump on the corpse of Trek. Why bother?
>The show worked because the cast was comfy and they had a sarcastic humor about the scifi nonsense.
RDA refused to take the role if they took it too seriously. The man made the show what it was.
Everyone was so miserable all the time. No, I don't give a shit how realistic it is that people marooned in space four or five galaxies away from the Milky Way are sad, it was annoying to watch
It was a failed attempt to copy BSG. While BSG had a miserable angle too, it was always countered with top of the line action sequences and music. So there was always more than just pure misery. SGU was five dudes in a dark corridor for most of the time.
I get that they felt the need to change things up after all those episodes of SG-1 and Atlantis, but since they were trying to ape another show rather than doing something they wanted to do, they didn't really understand it and just made an incomplete copy
It’s a story about finding God on the other side of the universe, why do I keep reading this garbage from people who think wisecracking quips in response to mortal danger is better writing? It makes me so mad there won’t be a season 3 of sg:u because the sperg fanbase was so insulted by the franchise taking itself seriously. It is your fricking fault.
It’s so fricking weird to read this while i’m currently watching sgu after watching sg1 and atlantis. You are wrong, sg:u is the absolute best of the series. It has the best writing, tackling real philosophical questions. I like the camp from the other shows, but sci fi is about philosophy and good writing, not what provides the best memes for you to screencap. I get it, it’s dark, but it’s objectively better camera work and is consistent with the darker tone, so complaining about the lighting is fricking braindead.
I disagree with that notion completely, and I think less of you for it. The Asian HR lady that you're made to dislike in the beginning of SG:U has more character development than anyone from sg1 in only 2 seasons. There is no easy "good guy" character to follow, but that just means there's nuance in the writing. It's kinda the point of a lot of the episodes of the first season when they are trying to solve problems around the ship. You're meant to hate characters in one scene then sympathize with them when you realize their motivations are usually morally justifiable from their perspective. Everybody is right, and nobody is right. Rush is right sometimes, but does a lot of bad things to work his goal. Same with the Colonel. No one is perfect. This is how strong characters are written, not just some monster of the week catchphrase fest. GOUUULL. UNSCHEDULED OFFWORLD ACTIVAITON. I get it. I watched sg1 and liked it too, but you are absolutely delusional if you think SG:U has weak characters, especially in comparison to the rest of the franchise.
> I get it, it’s dark, but it’s objectively better camera work and is consistent with the darker tone, so complaining about the lighting is fricking braindead.
If this is the average SGU defender that explains a lot. You’re the braindead one anon.
This isn't stargate, it's the irl military, sadly.

OP's pic isn't real, it's not from a new series. It's from an SG-1 episode about earth being taken over by ~~*aliens*~~
>Be me, freighter captain on dark night >Hear subwoofer mix of GET OUT DA WAY before US destroyer crashes into us.
I'm sick of reboots.
I'm 99.999% sure this is suck because we know how Amazon treats IPs.
I'm just not interested and it's sad to see another IP be deconstructed into a pile of shit for "modern audiences"
I am actually looking into starting a space opera sci-fi series and I'm thinking between Stargate or Star Trek (starting from either the original series or tng)
Which one should I start with?
i am not watching it they can go frick themselves
Best episode.
Is this the funniest fricking episode of any sci fi ever? I think yes
Probably. Teal'C just kills it. Honestly SG-1 would've probably been better if it was just RDA's and Teal'Cs crazy adventures.
Gotta be a record.
>She actually gets into it just moments before the loop resets
I love it
I like how O'neill states flat out that the addresses get even worse after the black hole.
>addresses get even worse after the black hole.
I really don't get how that could be possible.
I mean it was a throwaway line for fun. I think it's more fun to imagine how much worse it could get rather than getting hung up on things

Yep
hah, imagine
are your genitals innie or outie
I will now remind Cinemaphile that Stargate had a female airforce officer.
Its excusable because she's hot and white.
to get coomers to tune in, not to girlboss globohomosexual propaganda to droolers
attractive white females can literally play any role and it doesn't matter.
frickability plus femininity.
female stars these days have neither.
I don't know shit about Stargate but I assume when you're opening portals to other dimensions you probably don't want shadows to be all around you and want it to be bright as possible so weird malevolent shit doesn't materialize in the dark.

yeah and how about time travel how cool is that man

stargate atlatnis was a better show than SG1 in every possible metric
Nice ZPM but holy shit did I get sick of them as a plot device
its a ZedPm you dumb frick
Canadians aren't real, man

Wait is this legit?
Looks like the episode where Earth becomes a dictatorship ruled by aliens.
It is, Op is full of shit as usual
>a dictatorship ruled by aliens.
That used a vaccine to make the population infertile. An uncomfortably common theme in Hollywood.
You never see those aliens again so they probably did open the blackhole address.

My one problem was that Daniel just became Jack 2.0 in later seasons. Sarcastic Daniel doesn't work for me.
I wanted to like SGU and I just fricking couldn't

defending this instantly forgotten scifi show as though your life depended on it is admirable
Lol fair, i really liked it and i have a lot of thoughts on it
tl;dr
anyway, you're a homosexual
I'm not impressed by your inability to read 6 sentences. have a nice day loser

The real question is why are there so many browns?
Simply wont be watching this. No thank you.

Reminds me of the Achilles transporting the Stargate when they had no idea what it was.
GOOLD?
Isn't that from the Aschen doomed future episode?
I'm sick of reboots.

Any news on what we're getting?

Which one should I start with?
i am rewatching star trek enetrprise and im liking it. nice show to get in the mood
idk because I started watching both at the same back in 2009
