That was entirely HIS fault for connecting it to Alien for literally no reason except to funnel eyeballs to his completely unrelated android movie he wanted to make. While at the same time diminishing everything that was good about Alien and replacing it with nonsense.

Just because a movie includes contrived and haphazard allusions to a deeper meaning, ie "muh undertones/symbolism/monologues", which actually won't amount to anything other than some reddit essays by aspiring hack directors, it doesn't automatically mean its a good or interesting film anymore than throwing random swipes of paint at a wall makes for a proper painting.
But then again Scott hasn't made a semi-decent film since Legend yet audiences and critics continue to eat up his slop time after time so can't fault the man for making easy money.

Prometheus was shit because it the usual Abrams/Lindelof Mystery Box con job. A bunch of ideas and scenes thrown together that don't add up to anything. The lack of aliens wasn't the problem, the story was.

        this

        it's typical nu-Riddley Scott schlock
it's basically paradise lost for lazy "trad" atheists, and its depiction of any themes relating to religion or spirituality are purely aesthetic to pull the pseudo-pseud crowd in, ie morons who like pointing out metaphors with no deeper cognitive functioning than capeshitters

Having read Paradise Lost and Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Prometheus comes off as shallow and contrived.

What was Ridley Scott thinking doing a prequel to Alien with space men that look like marble statues?

It's the sort of film only a millenial/zoomer npc could enjoy.

Covenant was great right up until David showed up. Shaw should've shown up instead. Then they could've focused on exploring the Engineer city and battling against David's creations. Movie then ends the same BUT most of the boring parts are cut and it feels like a proper Prometheus sequel.

I for one really like David and wish Prometheus had no connection to Alien. Just a nice sci-fi trilogy about a dickhead android playing god and cosplaying as Lawrence of Arabia while pleasantly monologing to himself in the mirror.

they're good, AvP2 had an issue with being wayyy too fricking dark, partly because the directors said to get their R rating they had to keep it dark enough not to show too much gore, I swear if that movie wasn't so fricking dark it would have been great. you can't see what's going on half the time.

2 was great because of the true Murica ending, nuking the fricking town into oblivion. But yeah the movie is mostly filler shit between the AvP fight scenes, you don't give a shit what happens to any of the main characters

The second one was awesome because of the overwhelmed small town trope made it comfy and relatable. The only predator movie where the predator isn't a jobber and actually gets shit done as well. Bonus points for accidently frisbee'ing one of the annoying characters. I didn't mind it being dark because the town was in a blackout and my eyes aren't shit.

Gladiator has the dubious distinction of being one of the most factually and spiritually a-historical films about ancient Rome, in addition to being mediocre at best in every other category.
It become popular with normies because it was the first major production featuring ancient Rome on the big screen in decades and it was hailed as a masterpiece by critics due to the blatant left-liberal propaganda inherent in its plot and themes.

In Prometheus? It almost seems like it. Shaw was a gormless religious nut, her husband was a virtual non-presence, the captain was an idiot, Charlize Theron acted like a b***h, Weyland looked awful and had a moronic plan, and all the other scientists had inconsistent personalities and died like flies

They did such a bad job with the casting and writing for the characters that it's impressive. Still laughing at how ridiculous it was to get James Franco for the movie and kill him off screen. Danny McBride wasn't much better and very distracting

McBride wasn't distracting unless you kept waiting for him to act like another character. He actually handled his character pretty well and was surprisingly one of the better choices.

I was really expecting Paradise to be even more "pretentious" and philosophical than Prometheus. Shaw and David going to the Engineers' home planet and finding some Solaris tier shit.
