        Several reasons
        > Easier for syndication
        >Writing out of order in different teams
        >Easier to write plots for a static set of characters than trying to take into consideration their evolving character
        >These characters are better liked

Bad show remembered for its mediocre coombait character

It was a shit show that Cinemaphile kind of latched onto for a while just hoping for any fricking new direction from Fox's successful adult animated series.

It was a sort of terrible, but also sort of funny show with interesting backgrounds a la Gumball.

bob's autistic kids is a rip off of American Dad which is a rip off of Family Guy

I cant stand bobs burgers. Shit feels like it was written by and for lonely wine aunts.

when I think of mediocrity I think of bob's burgers, seriously it's so bland and forgettable that nobody can tell me what happened each season without looking it up.

at least gold era Simpsons was quotable and good, bobs burgers has nothing interesting it just sort of exists to fill in time because they don't want just the Simpsons on even though that show has long past it's prime.

        Correct

Because if you change a show for the sake of changing it without knowing what you're doing you might end up with a broken mess of a show that is a shadow of its former self. Sometimes if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

yeah but then you have the problem of it becoming stale and boring because it's just the same thing over and over.

the show has been on so long that they've basically exhausted every idea to the point where the quote "the simpsons did it already" applies to everything

        Anonymous

That's more due to how long the show has been going rather than the lack of change. Most shows do not run anywhere near as long as The Simpsons or Family Guy.

if they actually changed things up or test the waters with a season long plot it'd at least be a breath of fresh air, I think the bart rapping or tony hawk episodes are proof that the show is beyond saving (and that stupid screaming caterpillar episode holy frick that was bad)

at this point they just need to end it as it is very much a product of the 90's, hell half of the characters are references to things that don't even really exist anymore, behind the laughter should've been the finale.

Ah yes, The Simpsons needs Tegridy Farms.

              Anonymous

not everything is as bad as tegridy but knowing the simpsons writers they'd make something much worse which is why I said it'd be better off just ending it for good.

lazy gays can't put in the effort to write an actual story to save their lives. look at the rick and morty writers seething at watchers who like the serial plots.

I agree. The worldbuilding, storytelling and character progression in The Simpsons and Family Guy are really underrated aspects that should be explored more. They should do an at least one season long plotline where the nuclear powerplant explodes, decimating Springfield. Homer, Flanders, Carl, Mr Burns, among others all die. Bart loses an arm. We explore the people of Springfield trying to live in a nuclear wasteland. Each season from then on out should have continued storytelling that builds on prior seasons.

in Family Guy's case, episodes have long since stopped being about stories. Every character and location in Quahog is just a tool with which the writers can tell a joke. I think this works well for Family Guy in particular since it allows them to break the fourth wall and tell any joke they want to without having the baggage of
    >wait, didn't Peter cause a school shooting last week?
dragging down every episode. It's trying to be like Looney Tunes. Elmer Fudd shot himself in the fast last episode? Doesn't matter.
