Everyone has a high definition camera capable of both pictures and video in their pocket nowadays and yet all we ever get are blurry photos of nothing. If Sasquatch was real there would be new pictures and video coming out constantly, yet we're still discussing the same shit that's been talked about for decades.

Yep. And then it's like they can't even comprehend the notion that an animal could be so elusive that encountering them is far from a common occurrence. There are lots of animals like this across the world. Being that they're partly human, heavily related to us, they're highly intelligent and keep themselves hidden. More moronation I'm sick of hearing is: "There's nothing out there for them to eat!" Are you frickin kiddin me. Deer, for one thing. All over the goddamn place. On top that they'd would omnivores, scavenge and eat anything, and because they're so much more wild, their digestive systems are most likely able to break down stuff us humans can't eat. Hell they probably eat all kinds of fresh green leaves, like deer do, like other apes and monkeys do.

          >notion that an animal could be so elusive
What really makes the existence of bigfoot or other cryptids so unlikely is that yes, the creature itself could be good at hiding from you, but it would still leave an impact on its environment across a wide territory. You would find evidence of it like tracks, and shit, and the remnants of whatever they eat, and remains of any tool use or shelter/nest building etc. We don't find such environmental evidence for cryptids and it makes no sense that a large animal would be there and spend so much time doing such a perfect job of cleaning up after itself that it stays undetected

              This but unironically.
Do an image search for those alleged bigfoot footprints and there's such a variety of results, all looking so different that they couldn't possibly be made by the same animal

                Anonymous

Well that’s not a great argument, clearly people can misidentify prints and most bigfoot prints seem to be bear prints or just xl human fakes (we can spot differences in our own ancestors footprints, if bigfoot is a separate primate he will have something other than just xeroxed 150% human feet).
However! There’s still some chance of a real print being among those footprints or just not found of course. Most people’s tracking ability is zilch.

blood/dna is some kind of unidentified primate that is quite similar to humans, been sequenced a few times, but they dont know too much about it other than that and science wont accept a bigfoot blood sample so that's that

hairs are different in structure, they do not taper and dna is only found in the folicle, unlike other hairs

Reminded that Planet of the Apes was released in the same year as the PG film, and picrel is the best monkey suit that the greatest costume designers and special effects creatives in a big budget Hollywood produced studio could create.
The creature in the PG film has visible musculature move under its skin/fur, its gait is fundamentally nonhuman and the limb to torso proportions are inconsistent with that of a human.
The best and brightest Hollywood designers with unlimited budget could just glue prosthetics and fur to the faces and arms of the actors playing monkeys, they couldn't design some internal contraption to simulate musculature movement.

        Anonymous

Uhm actually chud, the PG film is fake as f*uck and is just a human in a monkey suit. I can tell cause it looks like a man wearing a suit, cause after all we know that the only anthropomorphic beings in the world are humans, every other living being doesnt walk on two legs like that

        Anonymous

Except Planet of the Apes isn't meant to show wild animals that are 7 feet tall. The Apes are groomed, with styled hair, and have clothing on covering most of their bodies so you wouldn't see "musculature." It's simply more probable that a guy going out to the woods to, by his own admission, film a bigfoot movie, would have prepared a believable bigfoot costume rather than him actually stumbling across and filming by PURE coincidence the only bigfoot footage.

        Anonymous

the point of the effects in planet of the apes was to allow the actors to emote and be expressive in closeups. the point of the patterson gimlin suit was to look okay from far away while being filmed on out of focus super 8 while the cameraman had a seizure. what you're calling "musculature" is simply the blurring caused by the camera being yanked around by a person having a seizure.

Only recently did I read about the entire incident. Apparently, they were following, running after "bigfoot" for maybe a couple of miles before this footage was taken. At some point one of them even got, something like, 7 meters(25 feet) away from it.

In more than a decade of hiking, and seeing all sorts of animals in the wild, never did I see an animal walk away so nonchalantly, after supposedly being hunted for miles. Especially not one that's famously elusive and impossible to catch.

    >Patterson's expensive ($369) 16 mm camera had been rented on May 13 from photographer Harold Mattson at Sheppard's Camera Shop in Yakima, but he had kept it longer than the contract had stipulated, and an arrest warrant had been issued for him on October 17; he was arrested within weeks of his return from Bluff Creek. After Patterson returned the camera in working order, this charge was dismissed, in 1969.

Patterson conducted a variety of interviews with witnesses, and he asked them to draw what they observed, which he than used as inspiration for his own versions in order to help tell their tales. Normal behavior, and certainly not conclusive evidence of a "hoax".

NTA but the most notable DNA example that was handwaved was from a bed of nails that a bigfoot stepped on and bled over.
Some people were staying in a cabin in the middle of bumfrick and one night huge rocks start getting tossed through their window and horrible screams, then the next morning they find this upside down table with nails with a gigantic bloody footprint on it.
Then YEARS later after reporting this some scientists went to get the table with the footprint and they found literal monkey DNA except they said there was a 1 /40,000 chance that it could be human if they had severe mutations like messed up chromosomes and shit so the consensus was it was a 9-foot tall mutated ugly dude from the goonies on meth 600 miles away from the nearest human settlement in the middle of the mountains.

Yeah he couldnt have ever seen bigfoot prior to making the PG tape. I personally brought filming equipment back in the 70's everywhere I went. It was the style at the time. That explains why Patterson brought filming equipment to some desolate area of a forest. No way in hell he ever came across a bigfoot - the same bigfoot - in that area previously and sought to capture it on film as proof.

Why is he the only one if it was so common to bring film equipment everywhere?

        >I personally brought filming equipment back in the 70's everywhere I went. It was the style at the time.
Is that why Patterson's filming equipment was so expensive he took out a loan for it beforehand?
but sure, everyone was walking around with film cameras in the 70s, not including the tripod mount he had time to set up and use.

          Anonymous

Indeed, it was totally by chance that he saw a bigfoot while lugging that equipment around. Totally has nothing to do with receiving prior reports about the bigfoot creature from others or his own past experiences.

There’s ~~*“””science”””*~~ and science. (Actual) science can’t debunk the dermal ridges found on the Patterson Gimlin casts decades after the footage was released or these injuries similar to human injuries found on similar casts. On these casts no one knew the foot had an injury until an anthropologist was like oh this guy had a case of “bumble foot” or whatever the disease was decades after the fact.
