If Woody had listened to him he'd be living an easy life in Japan hitting on sexy figmas instead of bumming around with a broken Bo Peep doll in some dingy carnival.

            Anonymous

honestly that's the best way to handle fictional shit that is bad or don't like, just pretend it was a dream or just a spin off that has no place in the timeline so you can treat it as nothing more then some fan theory that isn't cannon, like those spin off cartoons based on movies that can't take place in the story since it'd make no sense

that's how star wars fans do it, ray skywalker is nothing more then some teen girls self insert fan fiction on a space forum, and the universe was at peace after vader died and nothing more, that's how I treat the likes of shrek 3 or crystal skull or girl ghost busters: it didn't actually happen/wasa a dream/a fan fiction with a budget

Stinky Pete long abandoned his desire to be played with children. No way around it he was a flop as a kid's toy, ugly design, ugly name, even for a villain he just wasn't likeable.

Being in a museum was the only way he'd ever be appreciated.

What always annoyed me about the metoo movement in Hollywood isn’t that people were finally getting outed, but that everybody in the industry acted as if they had no idea it went on. Everyone joked about the casting couch, this joke wouldn’t have made sense otherwise.

Nature of the beast. They're all coked up drug addicts getting high and fricking people, which means everyone has to act like its 100% consensual all the time or the culture is a rape culture.

The problem is while people like Weinstein regularly do quid pro quo to get people parts in movies, for them its the moment they gave up their integrity. In other words, the day they fricked Harvey Weinstein was the day they gave up everything to become a star. For him, it was Tuesday.

What went right with him that went so horribly wrong with the rest?

The chicken man was already a convincing antagonist so it was truly unexpected when he turned on Woody. Contras it with modern Disney twist villains who are always preceded by a cold fish "obviously not the real villain" villain.
Also its a matter of saturation

        Anonymous

It also helps that the twist is that he's an extremist and not a 180° personality change like Hans and his clones
Heck he probably would have never stopped being nice to Woody if they went to Japan.

          Anonymous

It also helps a lot that Stinky Pete is very clearly the toy nobody would want from the show when you think about it.
"Hey kid, do you want the cowboy, the cowgirl, or the weird old man?"
So a lot of what he says, and wants, make a whole lot of sense.
Also getting to go to a "TOY" museum and hang with all the cool toys the reside in it wouldn't actually be that bad.

For me it was Waternoose who also shared his stage with a primary "red herring" villain. But what's great is that after Waternoose is revealed as a bad guy the writers don't forget about Randell as a character. Just compare that great chase scene through the door factory with Randell to the Weasel guy from Frozen who straight up disappears from the movie until after the climax

Toy Story 1, and especially 2 and 3, establish that there is no happy end for Toys.
Enjoying the time you have before the inevitable sad end is a very interesting and mature message spread across all three.

4 COMES OUT AND ITS LOL JUST LEAVE AND LIVE FOREVER AS A HOBO ITS GREAT, NO SAD ENDING ANYMORE

      Anonymous

This is what pisses me off most about 4.
Its written in stone that Toys eventually wear out. MAYBE they'll get lucky and be rehomed once, but eventually theyre destined to fall apart in some attic somewhere.

So Woodys "We'll enjoy every second we can" mindset at the end of 2 was a really lovely message for kids. It wasnt the usual "You can do anything, and be anything, there are no limits or sad things in the world" dreck.

And then 4 undoes it all. There does have to be a sad ending! You can be like Bo Peep and be a Toy freedom fighter! Woody gets his happy ending we kept getting told didnt exist! Awh!

      Disgusting.

      Anonymous

I've seen Toy Story 4, and I don't even remember what Woody's reason for joining the carnival toys was, other than Bo Peep was there and he had literally nothing better to do.

I would have thought there would be more to do with the question "what even counts as a toy?" with the spork character, and his reluctance to be played with. I'll admit I might be forgetting it, but I can't remember there being much exploration or discussion about the topic or its resolution, other than him being the reason for Woody to do anything. Same for the "voice box" thing with Woody. What exactly was that all meant to be about? It just felt like a real lame contrived reason to have an antagonist.

Toy Story 4 just felt like a movie that had nothing to say or offer and existed just to try and wring more money out of the franchise. I mean, off the top of my head, a movie about the declining role of toys in children's lives today in the wake of video games and smart phones would have been more grounds to explore and send a message outside of whatever Toy Story 4 was even trying to say.

Yeah, I thought this was going to more or less be the theme/plot of the entire movie, and it got resolved roughly twenty minutes after Forky was introduced.

Kingdom Hearts of all things goes into more detail explaining how the Toys are alive then the actual series does.

        No that's literally it.
Bonnie doesnt like to play with him anymore, and Bo Peep doesnt want to be played with by kids now (Some form of gurl power Iunno)

So Buzz tells him to just frick off and be a toy hobo that helps out other toys.

I think a big reason for this is Tom Hanks was done with it at 3 but they got him to do 4 by promising him itd give his character a send off - which is why it feels so random.

          And why is that

  18. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Honestly, if I had to do a redo of Toy Story 4 and keep the series continued.

    >Ditch everything about the movie.
    >Don't bother bringing back Bo Peep since she was bastardized into a generic "GURL POWER" character that carries barely none of her wise and motherly character as established back in 1/2
    >Age up Bonnie to a adult/elderly, at least to have the toys face the whole "becoming older" idea.
    >Ditch Forky, and have the new toy be a handmade doll by Bonnie or something else entirely.
    >Keep the whole message all about "what makes a toy?" and the whole idea of retirement/degrade. All instead of this moronic contrived, yet morally wrong bullshit that is of "selling your organs at gunpoint is okay", "it's okay to ditch your family and friends for a hoe" and "You don't need a kid anymore to be a toy"
    >Since Tom Hanks wanted to give the character a send off. Do it properly in a consistent way, and maybe possibly send off Buzz too to fit in with their idea of "retiring together" as established in Toy Story 2

And for any continuation of the series, just expand upon the world with a new toy cast with an bigger focus on the toy society and exploring human world with less focus on humans and their interaction with them since it's already explored so thoroughly. And no focus towards to producing spin-offs like Lightyear.

That’s the great part of AUTO as a character, he’s so unwaveringly dutiful to his one command that quite literally everything he does is in service of that command. From the literal moment EVE was found to have found an example of surviving flora on Earth, AUTO had the entire system rigged to uphold orders that have, for all intents and purposes, been invalidated by EVE’s discovery. Hell, it asks the question of whether this is actually the first time that this shit’s gone down before, only AUTO’s plan went perfectly due to lack of a foreign element like WALL-E fricking his system up.

            Anonymous

pretty much. When EVE is brought to the captain room, AUTO sees she has a plant inside and orders his robot lackey to remove it and later take it to a escape pod, while tricking the captain in thinking EVE malfunctioned. Plant was only saved because EVE took Wall-E to the escape pods to send him home
