>Based on the acclaimed 2020 miniseries by Tom King, STRANGE ADVENTURES follows intergalactic adventurer Adam Strange, the champion of planet Rann, who returns to Earth with his alien wife Alanna after a pivotal victory against the warmongering Pykkt that comes at great personal cost. While Adam’s exploits earn him fame and fortune as a war hero and master strategist, minor inconsistencies in his tales lead tech vigilante Mister Terrific to launch an investigation, which threatens to expose the dark truth behind Adam Strange’s greatest adventure.

Frick this literal CIA Agent for asserting his awful take on Adam unto the public consciousness, and frick the company letting literal CIA Agents use their characters for propaganda
Yeah they should talk about the 90s one where they kill Alanna instead!
We could but I would point out that's something that clearly didn't stick around as it was retconned the next time Adam showed up.
And Strange adventures isn’t even in continuity but you people can’t stop b***hing about it.
It doesn't have to be in continuity for me to shit on it.
A shitty story is still shitty regardless of whether it's canon or not
CIA MAN BAD
Bad at writing.
>must defend subversive corrupt bureau
>must defend glowies
Yes.
See
THIS is why I have no faith in Gunn's DCU
Tom King is a nepo baby who is pushing for this the most.
I really liked the Adam Strange on Krypton but I doubt 1000% we'll ever see him reprise.
I keep hearing rumors but not a lot actal news about the confirmation of this series. I kinda doubt we'll see anything come of this as the premise doesn't sound like a good entry point for a series.
Frick yes. I still love this story. I have the hardcover.
I don't care if Adam Strange gets thrown under the bus, he cheated on his wife with his dead mom's nurse while while his wife was dying giving birth to his kid.
Why would you care about that though?
You are a cuck homosexual. That shit only happens because the cuck homosexual writer completely demolishes a character. Why is this lauded?
Second.
>why is this lauded?
I think what happens is that enough mouthbreathers are impressed by the art in those books that they assume the writing is good.
I think that's just generally how a Tom King comic works. He manages to get all these brilliant artists, and they put some nice, good-looking wallpaper up over the massive cracks in his work.
Unless it's something like Heroes in Crisis, where his writing is just so spectacularly awful and spiteful that not even Clay Mann can save it.
The fact that SA didn't get the Eisner despite having both Shaner and Gerads as a 1-2 punch is a clue to how weak the story is.
Most Adam Strange fans were frustrated by that mini and heavily criticized it for having Adam cheat on his wife and killing off Alanna.
>I still love this story
Strangely pro-genocidal.
This is just a rumour, not an official confirmation, and it's from fricking ComicBookMovie. Pretty sure this article only got made because Gunn's already doing an adaptation of Tom King's Supergirl, and posted a while back that he liked Strange Adventures. But that doesn't mean he's gonna do a SECOND King adaptation.
I'd have hoped that Gunn would've been able to see what a hack King is, but I guess not.
Wasn't Kevin Smith supposed to do this?
Yeah it's so in his wheelhouse too.
Is that the “copy that” guy from that GameStop commercial?
This is the guy who played Darwin in First Class.
Copy that
This 12 issue miniseries could easily be a tight 8 episode prestige TV series. Instead DC will stretch it out into multiple seasons of bullshit.
A tight 8 episode series where nothing actually happens.
Fricking flaming shit.
I do not regret completely giving up on DC after King, Didio and Bendis fricked up all the things I liked.
I will not be surprised if this is another cinematic turd by DC.
>Adam Strange was my FAVORITE superhero and Tom King RUINED him
your posts are made of cringe and lies
King did worse then ruin him, he wasted him and all the potential he could've had with Rann.
He didn't have to be my favorite superhero. I liked him enough to hate how he was put thru the usual Tom King suicidal ideation story arc.
Not even the C-Listers of Heroes in Crisis deserved the crap Tom King put them thru with "The Farm".
Mr Terrific Bros….it’s our time to shine.
Cucking with hawt Alanna.
Is Aleea a hawt teen now?
If people actually cared about Adam Strange his 00s series wouldn't have sold so shit.
What the frick are you talking about? I have it on my shelf right now anon.
I have all of Planet Heist in singles in a longbox.
That's the exact attitude that made Strange Adventures so boring.
As someone that read all of that this is terrible if they don't go fricking nuts and ignore it, you DO NOT want to be faithful to this, FRICKING USE THE NAME AND DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT LIKE YOU DO FOR SO MANY OTHER THINGS, SPARE PEOPLE THIS HORROR
My first note would be to drop the NYT best seller and Medal of Honor winner Adam Strange. If you are doing an Earth murder investigation on Adam Strange it should be Adam Strange as a nameless dirfter.
>Hate Zack Snyder
>Hate James Gunn
>Hate the RIck and Morty rejects they got working on the Marvel movies
Give the Coen Brothers carte blanche on an Animal Man or Swamp Thing movie just give me a fricking professional
>just give me a fricking professional
this, fricking this, I'm so fricking tired of all of these capeshit movies being directed by literal whos who only directed boring TV shit
I still like Gunn tho, he's literally the only MCU director who was consistent, and he had made good movies beforehand
James Wan is the only real director who worked in Capeshit and evidently aqua man 2 is going to suck
Why not just make a regular Adam strange movie? Sure its close to the John Carter movie which flopped (despite being good) but you could "punch it up" a bit to make it more popular with audiences
>Why not just make a regular Adam strange movie?
Well keep it mind this is a rumor but it could be explained that by the fact Tom King is part of the DCEU writer's room.
Because it's boring. I want to see their deconstruction of the John Carter archetype. If I wanted to watch it straight I'd just put on Avatar.
Adam Strange is already a deconstruction of the john carter archetype.
Adam Strange was literally just John Carter of Mars put through a Comics Code Authority boringfilter.
>Adam Strange was literally just John Carter of Mars
Outside from teleporting to an Alien planet John Carter and Adam Strange are the exact opposites? A fact that Tom King clearly wasn't aware of.
>Outside from teleporting to an Alien planet
thats literally everything
Well is Adam Strange a soldier like John Carter is?
>Deconstruction
They plainly make it clear
>Justice League cannot defeat Pykkts
>Oans cannot defeat Pykkts
>Justice League is sacrificing Rand with a "just come live here bro, let those people die lol that planet is FRICKED and so are all those people oh well"
Adam is still a hero in the end, doing what had to be done.
Comic sucks, but he was still in the right, the story makes it clear.
>League can't do shit, isn't willing to try
>Oans can't do shit
People complain about it painting Adam in a bad light...but it straight up just has the Justice League refuse to be heroes and let Rand die lol
Pyktts were just straight up barbarians too.
Did he have to make atom a war criminal AND a cuck who doesn’t love his wife or vice versa?
Why don't you just admit you didn't read the comic.
That's objectively the worse way to give a reason why the green lanterns wouldn't intervene in the pyktts committing genocide.
Vath Sarn is literally from Rann.
You act like this is something new. The GLC did the same non-intervention act during the Rann-Thanagar war.
The problem is that Hal Jordan wouldn't do this to Adam because it's so fricking inhumane and goes against everything Hal stands for.
Like you choose the israelite to ignore a plea for help from Genocide?
>You act like this is something new
No I'm just saying it's objectively the worse way to write why Hal Jordan couldn't just fly Adam to Rann.
Why is that Hal wasn't allowed to help Rann but he was allowed when the pykkts invaded earth?
I assumed it was OK because he was defending his home planet. The issue was with Hal taking Adam all the way to Rann to help, wasn't it?
Why would it be such an issue though? Excuse me for nitpicking but I think if the book raises the question then it should have a good answer for it.
I read it, you didn't
Pykkts are conquering worlds every second.
They're on their way, completely invincible.
Damn, Oans are afraid to fight them
You need to read between the lines, this is just like the Reach. A force that is going to conquer anything and everything, there is nothing political about the engagement. The Oans couldn't defeat the Reach and signed accods with them, limiting their own power and actions against the Reach, they learned their lesson and now won't try to fight another invasion like that again.
It's literally the same, for the Oans not to do anything means they don't want to get into another engagement where they cannot secure victory.
Just admit you don't read comics.
Oans know if they bend the knee again they won't ever be getting back up. Green Lantern corps will be deemed to be an escort and pleasure service where Lanterns are dispatched to frick and please Pykkt's conquered worlds.
>the oans are refusing to bend the knee by bending the knee
They already signed away all the worlds the Reach conquered, dooming all those untold numbers. They're shying away from having to face the Pykkt and do it again.
Good thing this is a comic where the impossible is reality then, huh?
>The Pykkt possess the ability to create mass and energy from nothing and pull resources that don't exist from an artificial reality of their own creation, this reality increases exponentially and churns out ever increasing hoards of Pykkt military might that has conquered untold realities and defeated the Justice League of 1.6 quadrillion Earths...correction, 1.9...correction...22.7...correction 150.7...correction...
>They already signed away all the worlds the Reach conquered, dooming all those untold numbers.
Sounds like you forget the guardians of the universe programmed all the power rings to turn lanterns into rabid exterminators when they see a Reach infiltrator.
That doesn't help all the worlds the Reach conquered and the Oans vowed to never attempt to free or liberate while their teeming masses cried out in suffering and the Oans turned away.
But the reach actually prove they can back this up with firepower which the pykkts.
Hey bud you're trying for something here by focusing on the oans but I hope because I'm just gonna go ahead dismantle whatever this is by pointing out two facts in the story.
1)Superman and the Justice league deny to give Adam Strange any aid despite the fact they had access to FTL that would've got him to Rann much faster then waiting for the next zeta ray beam
And
2)Hal Jordan later did fight against the pyktts when they invaded eath meaning the GLC doesn't have a treaty with the pykkts like they do with the reach meaning your whataboutism ploy is pointless.
You've said a lot of irrelevant nonsense.
Both the Oans and Justice League failed as was already stated. They have a duty to uphold but fail to answer the call to justice. And Hal fighting isn't the equivalent of the entire Corps going to war along with the Oans. Which they did. Which they failed to win and then officially signed a treaty with the Reach to never attack them or free their worlds while the Reach spent 40,000 years raping them in bliss as they cried out to the Oans for help.
>You've said a lot of irrelevant nonsense
Just a side effect of explaining to people how Strange Adventures was objectively a bad story.
It was bad, yes, but Adam wasn't a villain in it like morons think. He has to choose Earth or Rann. He chooses Rann. It's his choice, his right, and he's not a bad person for doing what he has to.
Buddy you don't go to play along with Tom King about how the pykkts are super special bad guys to justify why Adam did nothing wrong.
Anon, that was the point of the story...Pykkts are invincible and nobody can face them so he has to choose which planet to save. He choose Rann.
If the story doesn't make the effort to explain how then it's not the point of the story at all.
It literally doesn't matter because the focus wasn't on them, it was on Adam coming to terms with the fact he can't save both worlds.
Adam never tried to save two world though.
Nah. You didn't understand the reveal.
Which bullshit reveal though? The one about how Alanna was the one who wrote the new york time bestselling memoir?
>It literally doesn't matter
It does though, the pykkts are an entirely unconvincing threat.
Because it wasn't about how they're invincible, it was about Adam's actions due to their invincibility.
I'm not defending it, you just are stupid and think that comics are exclusively about people fighting and want to see people fighting otherwise it's somehow not a good comic to you. This comic is bad for legitimate reasons, not because it doesn't have some 40k fight for you.
>Because it wasn't about how they're invincible, it was about Adam's actions due to their invincibility
Hey man there's no way I can buy that line.
>You can't have a World War 2 movie that isn't about the frontlines
You are a moron and I hope a car hits you
>You think that comics are exclusively about people fighting and want to see people fighting
Ok class you see how this guy is trying to dictate my position? That's bad rhetoric skill right there guys. In an actual debate the moderator won't let that fly and you'll forfeit your turn.
There is no debate, you're a moron and you should just go watch your dbz, you'll feel better
Alright this is good, we winding things now even though he's still looking for an in.
I'm laughing at you
That's fine because this is actually the point where I laid out exactly why Strange Adventures is probably the most embarrassing of Tom King's work and I can do by laying it out in two simple points here folks.
>an incoherent plot
>a lack of sophistication
Buddy, you couldn't follow a simple conversation...I don't think you have any argument about a plot's complexity. NTA either.
See he's nervous now because he knows I'm onto something here.
Let's talk about how this plot make no sense and to do that we got to talk about the bad guys and what they want.
>they're the pykkts
>they are bad
>they want to invade and conquer earth
And how do they plan to do it?
>invade and start a war with Rann, a civilization with more advanced technology then Earth
And why are they starting a war with Rann before invading Earth?
>because they want to abduct and torture Adam Strange for their evil plan to invade and conquer Earth
And what does their evil plan involve?
Now get ready because this is a doozy.
>to let Adam Strange win the war on Rann.
And how does this help them invade Earth?
>by adam betraying the earth
How does he do that?
>well first he's gonna have to write a book that's good enough to become a national bestseller
>then durint a book tour someone will eventually accuse him of war crimes from a war that is 4.5 lightyears away from Earth
>he will then murder that person
>there will be a murder investigation that Adam will fully cooperate with
>the lead detective on that murder investigation will naturally ignore the murder case and set out to prove the murdered random person's accusation that Adam Strange committed war crimes on an alien planet was true
>during all this the pyktts will send out scout ships to alert Earth the aliens Adam Strange wrote about in his best seller are going to invade Earth.
>the lead detective will published his findings but not arrest Adam for the murder of the random person because the detective lacks the authority to arrest anyone
>people will learn that Adam did do war crimes against the pyktts back on Rann which will give him such popular support Earth makes him a general.
>adam will then slowly sabotage Earth for the pyktts
All that is literally 1--11 summarized.
Issue 12 is basically Alanna has shot Adam dead and the pykkts leave Earth to go back to war with Rann.
Also Alanna ditched her daughter.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but that's a little convoluted of a plot isn't it?
Let's move onto the next point which is the lack of sophistication which means all the dumb little small things King didn't put a mote of thought into.
>how come Alanna speaks English?
She's an alien from a different world and she's a fluent english speaker?
>does the justice league need to get involved.
Adam is not in the league and the murder case itself is pretty simple. Sutely the justice League doesn't have jurisdiction over every murder with an off-world weapon, they'd be too busy to even save the world then.
>and Rann actually got genocided?
Apparently.
>And why are they starting a war with Rann before invading Earth?
they want to abduct and torture Adam Strange for their evil plan to invade and conquer Earth
That wasn't what happened at all.
That's what objectively happened though.
They didn't invade Rann for any resources or territory and no other rannian soldier was captured alive like Adam was.
And you'll notice this guy uses a lot of non-sequiturs too, he's trying to tire me out now but I'm putting some pressure by calling out what tactics he's using.
You are genuinely too stupid to discuss this and are now trying to distance yourself from it like you should have done at the start lol
>The Pykkt possess the ability to create mass and energy from nothing and pull resources that don't exist from an artificial reality of their own creation
lmao, did an actual 10yo come up with this shit?
The funny thing is that it's not even from the comic, anon is just that desperate to defend Strange Adventures.
Contextual you might be right but textual the alien bad guy were wholly unimpressive both in a technological sense and stage presences.
They have infinite numbers. Batman exhausted himself dealing with one ship and they casually had 2309485209348857-02398450-238456-02398456-0239860-923846-092384460-9234856-09342856-03492856-0439856-0943856-0934856-043856-0934856-043856-04398560-439856-0493865-0439586-034586-0345986-3049568-023450823049582039845 more just around the corner
No one can have infinite number of troops.
This is bait.
>Facts are bait
That's conjecture.
>Facts are conjecture.
E equals R2-D2, eh?
Well facts have to be factually correct to be facts right? And it's just that you're factually incorrect that the Pyktts and the Oans have the same ceasefire they do with the Reach.
He's saying they would be drawn into a situation that created the previous ceasefire by going to war with them which damaged them forever you idiot. It could go even worse for the Oans this time.
Why would it though? The Reach reached a ceasefire by having enough firepower to force a ceasefire.
And kept all the worlds they conquered. They won.
>they won
And it doesn't matter at all to the story of strange adventures.
>Nothing matters ever in this world because I said so!
Holy shit you lost so fast
Let me explain something to the crowd here real quick: just because The Reach exist doesn't mean we have to assume the pykltts are like The Reach.
>I want to see their deconstruction of the John Carter archetype
John Carter isn't that popular anymore that deconstruction would really work,
I don’t know, you’d think that the lesso they would’ve learned from aquaman was to just do it. Don’t play around the goofiness lean into it, that’s what people want
And into the trash it fricking goes
.>Tom King adaptation
He can't keep getting away with these psyops
>Tom King in the thread shitting on everyone
Can I just say that it's really neat how the Strange Adventures hardcover's cover under the slipcover is the biography Adam writes in-universe? I like little things like that.
Silver age Adam Strange stories are worth checking out.
>Edi Gathegi, who plays Mister Terrific in James Gunn's SUPERMAN: LEGACY, is reportedly set to return.
Ah, so Gunn was lying when he said he didn't add in those Justice League characters to set up spinoff projects
