Well good luck to them, it's a shitty story to be adapting for.
this, why Strange Adventures of all Tom King things? Afghanistan's over and with that goes general audience interest in war story cinema. in the wake of something like Joker's success I feel like Mister Miracle as a psych thriller would have been a better choice
>why Strange Adventures of all Tom King things?
Probably aiming to use it as a introduction to the DC cosmic for the masses, which granted would still make Strange Adventures the worse possible choice as an adaption.
Tom King is part of the DCU Writers Room, they are going to end up adapting most of his stuff.
He's also writing the Green Lanterns show, and per the leaks a big part of it is just Hal and John dealing with their military service trauma.
The funny thing is that I'd figured Tom King didn't even liked Strange Adventures.
It is about money.
Riskey move on King's part to put forth the one with the least normie appeal.
>want to watch a C-lister investigate a D-Lister?
>there'll be senate hearings~
still does not explain why Gunn really like King's work
Gunn is a normie and just took a guy who did recent well received work to try to get the film/tv division of DC working for general audiences. Because that worked out so well for Geoff Johns.
>Tom King is part of the DCU Writers Room, they are going to end up adapting most of his stuff.
For this alone I hope Gunn's DC fails. I don't want that hack getting hollywood money from his mediocrity.
post your feelings when they end up adapting his Batman comics into the Batman movies.
Hal doesn't PTSD he get STD's from E.T.'s instead.
>He's also writing the Green Lanterns show
Well frick.
Don't worry, I doubt he's the head writer.
>Strange Adventures comes out and bombs because tv critics are more expensive then comic book blogs.
I find it more funny DC is learning from Marvel that tv shows aren't worth doing.
its not tv shows itself its that the shows just arent worth watching. wandavision did really well. kinda sad cause i feel like certain capeshit like spiderman would work better in episodic format
A live action Spider-Man show would be too expensive unless you want it to look like the cheapass CW/DC shows
i was thinking more something like tokusatsu for the action
Yeah and Strange Adventures on it's premise alone is not must see tv.
why does gunn like tom king so much
Because he's the king of oral.
Gunn should like these kind of things, I think somebody did a Fables alike tv show a couple of years ago so i suppose he will not go with these, Dial H for Hero or Animal Man could be a thing too.
