The time could be longer if some of the people inside are dead, but realistically all the rescuers know they're looking for bodies. That sub imploded, the only evidence it hasn't is some banging they picked up that could be anything.
There are a few reasons why it could have imploded and why it could still be intact
Imploded
>Window is not rated for that depth
>The entire sub isn't fricking rated at ALL
Intact
>Sub has loss communications before and losing communications is so normal that they waited 8 hours before reporting it missing
>A sub implosion is loud. Like really fricking loud, a sensor thousand of miles away would have picked up its implosion but nothing has been reported yet
>Patterned knocking reported
So we shall see. But I think everyone agrees, imploded or not, it is 100% fricked.
It would probably be interesting for R&D reasons to know what actually happened. I think the Navy would push for a little more time just for this, but since the family of everyone involved is rich, I guess they will push for a bit longer just for the sake of understanding what actually happened, so they are all aligned in not giving up anytime soon.
