Sounds like a moronic guess because the Arkhamverse has always been a contained universe with hardly any villains from other heroes like Aquaman, Flash, and Superman being used. Kinda illogical.

A number of plot threads there seem weird, though, like Superman flying to Krypton or Ivy being nine even though Arkham Knight was five years ago.

To be fair, it was too predictable, a scenario too different from the twists of Arkham City. They should have just kept the Arkham Knight as a secret sub boss with a different name that turns into an actual boss and story-related threat rather than marketing him in any way. It's like people would just know Joker is Clayface if they ever hinted Clayface's involvement in the Arkham City trailers.

Rocksteady wanted to make a single-player game. WB wanted a looter-shooter to cash in on that sweet, sweet Fortnite money.
Old, Arkham-era staffers mostly left Rocksteady and new people were brought in. "Crime has social causes and needs social solutions" is a popular sentiment among younger artists/programmers. Thus, villains aren't as bad but heroes are seen as ignoble for beating up criminals. That's why Harley lectures Batman about being somebody who beats up the mentally ill before capping him. Same reason the latest live-action Batman movie made a big deal about Batman needing to be a symbol of hope rather than of retribution.

The audio file of Harley and Co. killing Batman has been getting taken down by WB continually, so it seems like it's real and not just something made with AI. A number of plot threads there seem weird, though, like Superman flying to Krypton or Ivy being nine even though Arkham Knight was five years ago.

Old, Arkham-era staffers mostly left Rocksteady and new people were brought in. "Crime has social causes and needs social solutions" is a popular sentiment among younger artists/programmers. Thus, villains aren't as bad but heroes are seen as ignoble for beating up criminals. That's why Harley lectures Batman about being somebody who beats up the mentally ill before capping him. Same reason the latest live-action Batman movie made a big deal about Batman needing to be a symbol of hope rather than of retribution.

tbh Batman is a pretty shitty 'Symbol of Retribution', when 'Retribution' is just throwing them into a prison they get out of in a day or two.

White Deadshot is retconned to being a fake. Or, at least, that's what the new one is saying.
Except the weird part is that everyone hated the original SS movie, and the soft reboot not-sequel had a cool black character with a similar gimmick better suited for this game. It's equal parts coming in too late and too early. Just how long has this game been in development?
Bloodsport really would have been fun to play in retrospect
