It's been 15 years and it still feels weird that of all characters Suki somehow becomes a major secondary character in the last third of the third season. Hakota is rescued along side her. A number of other kids: Haru, The Duke, and the wheelchair kid come to the western air temple with the Gaang. Yet those people, who were among the few willing to organize and invade the Fire Nation: they fricking vanish down a hole then are nowhere to be seen when it comes to the final three-front showdown.
I can come up with no explanation other than Bryke was worried people were going to ship Toph with Sokka.
