>movie makes good box office returns >meaning if they pump more money into it that it'll make more money >every movie has bloated budgets >only franchise movies get funded >Hollywood unions continue to bloat as well >returns diminish because of budget, so now they chase even higher box offices >return to step 2 and repeat
the whole fricking thing needs to collapse. 200 million budgets being the norm for an action movie is fricking insane
Was the first Avengers really "woke"? I mean there was female and black superheroes, the one scene of the Holocaust survivor, but that was really it. At the very least you could say the script was written by one straight white man instead of a herd of Black person women and gays.
actually by the time ROTK was released the total cost of the trilogy was $281 million. Peter Jackson was very sneaky and spent most of the planned budget on FOTR, knowing it would need to be a hit for him to get the remainder done properly.
OK, so just imagine you save an extra 5 million just for "dressing up" the rough edges of props to hide mistakes. Boom. $45 million and no shitty look claymation.
>movie makes good box office returns >meaning if they pump more money into it that it'll make more money >every movie has bloated budgets >only franchise movies get funded >Hollywood unions continue to bloat as well >returns diminish because of budget, so now they chase even higher box offices >return to step 2 and repeat

The extra money isn't for making a better sequel. It's for giving everyone bigger paychecks and for making sure your fly-by-night tertiary studio gets signed on for something not needed that you source out to india to reduce the your own costs, creating even higher returns for yourself.
None of those movies cost 200+. The majority of work is done in green screen warehouses with minimum wage film crews and CGI by literal slave shop Indian production companies. Studios just like and inflate their budgets to scam taxes. It's an open secret that corporate Hollywood is a giant tax scheme.
they still keep paying "popular" actors a ridiculous amount of money.
also, most of those movies still look pretty cheap and have shitty CGI special effects for having such insanely high budgets.
practical special effects in older movies looked much better and were cheaper
Remember when every year had multiple new blockbuster high quality classic movies that would be loved for generations? There used to be things worth watching.
Good morning, based sir.
Franchise and IP slop needs to fricking stop. Instead of one $200m sludge bucket, make 10 $20m filmmaker driven indie kinos, introduce new talent, build up new stars and reboot the whole industry. We're long overdue for another revolution.
I think we're in the middle of a revolution in terms of media, but I think these tentpole franchises are here to stay. We will have a million spinoffs of Indiana Jones and Star Wars and my hunch is that media/streaming conglomerates will treat these properties like the Bible. With thousands of iterations and new narratives arcs. It's gonna get old
>modern movies look like shit >cost ten times more than movies from the 80s which look better even today
lol, what the frick happened with this shitty industry?
you forgot to mention that most of the actors are now shit as well
i guess when cgi is what carries a film you dont need your actors to be particularly good
Fast X made it's budget back, plus around 200 m illion+ on top
other's flopped and Indy will surely flop
i mean these movies are shit, but Hollywood also needs to stop overinflating it's budgets
some of these would not flop if they cost half less, and for example The Flash has such terrible CGI you really wonder where the frick the money went
>WELL, Cinemaphile?
We've given you the reason time and time again, but you won't accept it. And every time some marginal summer hit comes around, you come back to gloat about how wrong we were.
Well even the apparently amazing Spiderverse has only made 500mil. It's not a flop of course but it's box office only looks amazing compared to these flopd . Spiderverse is going to finish at 700mil. If this was 2019 it wouldn't even make the top 10. See how bad this is? This summers biggest hit wouldn't even be noteworthy in the pre pandemic years.
So why are you comparing their totals when you actively acknowledge the route cause of it?
The movies in 2019 blockbusters weren't any better, they weren't any less woke, but people hadn't been broken of theater conditioning that COVID casued.
The industry is shoveling the same shit and hasn't adapted their practices to how people actually consume media.
yes the industry is in decline, no its not because people have decided watching movies on their laptop on disney+ or 123movies is superior to the theater.

More than it being superior it may be that it's not worth the trouble.

It isn't because the quality of blockbusters has declined either or because they've become more woke.
Look up the fifty two billion dollar movies and you'll notice there are maybe three great movies on the whole list.
Not to mention TG Maverick or Avatar 2. Butt-groove couch gays want to think everyone is satisfied with the shitty home viewing experience they've resigned themselves to, but it's not true. Theatrical cinema experiences are still hugely in demand, but Hollywood is churning out 99% awful sludge in theaters and prioritizing their lame ass streaming services.
This. They get expensive fast. If you're a virgin incel neet loser you can do quicky sessions with some escorts and it's cheap but really a chad alpha wants at least an hour. And an hour isn't enough. So it quickly gets very very expensive. You can guarantee this is where all the money is going. High class escort agencies also operate under front organisations like charities and vague service industries etc so it likely appears on the books as something innocuous.
Elemental is probably the one where it's obvious where the budget went tho.
The art design is odd but it's probably one of Pixar's most complex animations. Everything is dynamic, water is constantly flowing, fire moving. Not a single shot in the movie can be static, there's animation every second, and not only that, but the elemental character's are interacting with the environment constantly in complex ways. Particularly water.
The animation on display is obviously expensive. The writers room sadly lacks the talent of the animators, and the movie is still a mediocre remake of Look Who's Coming For Dinner.
This. Compare it to Mario and you can see what Pixar spends their money on. Mario was all the animation prowess anyone asked for. Pixar used to push the envelope as part of their brand, but it's far past the point of diminishing returns.
Haven't watched it, nor am I going to. But from the trailer the backgrounds look so dull and lifeless. I get that everything is moving but surely it doesn't justify such an extreme budget for an animated flick.
fire animation in videogames is almost always literally an animated flat texture and water animation isn't nearly as dynamic
also AAA games are extremely expensive and often cost more than even the biggest Hollywood movies
the budget in The Flash is obvious inflation bullshit out of incompetency or money laundering or whatever
the budget in Elemental is clearly on screen, the movie is still bad, and the artstyle itself is not very appealing but the money is on screen
Fast X is a flop because it has a 340 million dollar budget. It could never fill enough Chinese theaters to make that up.
Lol it didn't, fast x's budget was 350. It still hasn't doubled that amount. I's argue TLM is less of a bomb than fast x.
Considering a big part of that is from China where studio's cut is shit the rest of the franchise is in serious trouble.
Wait 350 million? What the actual frick lol. I thought it was like 200. They really dumped this much cash into an FF movie.

Big part of the budget can be explained by the fact that there are just way too many big names in this movie: >jason momoa >vin diesel >john cena >gal gadot >bri larson >ludacris >cardie b
And a bunch of others
Now you are just speaking from ignorance. Elemental is a really really gorgeous movie, again you can atleast see where the money went on screen.
Wait until Jones comes out and we get to see a over the hill actor read bad dialogue well showing active contempt for the people watching him.
That is a worth wild thing to outright hate because the "who gives a frick" attitude shines through, Elemental has some obvious talent being dragged down by it's worse parts.

The animation isn't anything spectacular nor groundbreaking to justify the 200 million budget. Half of the probably went on diversity hires and bobba tea for the homosexual writers.

Want me to repeat myself for the third time?
I got it the movie is vaguely woke and so you can't acknowledge anything positive associated with it.
Do you seriously think that the movie having
an interracial relationship actually counts as woke? I'm going through Disney's movies and I'd say their first one was in the 67.

I didn't mention the words woke or interracial relationship. Nice job outing yourself you disingenuous shill. Now I know where that 200 m went.

Right you weren't talking about wokeness at all, and the movie is about an interracial relationship. I assumed you got that part of the movie.

DreamWorks aren't sending their best.
It's a dumb comparison to even make. "Video games do it all the time" ya, and red dead redemption 2 was said to cost 500m dollars. Like....no shit they do it all the time too.
Replacing a white lead with bipoc.
Intentionally changing a franchise which featured white characters in the majority cast to zero whites.
Replacing a white male lead with a female of any race.
Having troon or nb as a main cast member.
Promoting race mixing.
Featuring racing or muscle cars in an electric vehicle world.
Catering to female bipoc audiences who don't like sci-fi or superheroes, because you believe white males will show up for your goyslop no matter what.
Featuring gay or trans characters in g to pg13 movies for propaganda/esg purposes only.
hollywood seems to treat movies like a tv show now, where each new film in an ip is like a new season of the show
the walking dead was schlock that somehow had rising viewership over the first half a dozen seasons or so but hit the wall and that loyal audience lost all interest in the overall story
Third one is going to flop so hard. I can't even imagine how asshurt all the White people who saw that movie are. It's gonna be Rise of Skywalker all over again.
>I can't even imagine how asshurt all the White people who saw that movie are.
You poltards are so hilariously out of touch with reality. You're like the grinch standing on the mountain just knowing everyone is about to start crying.

It makes me so upset that Transformers has finally got some momentum going with a good but flawed movie but we're so cursed with the burden of Bay's mistakes that it's not able to carry that momentum forwards.
>Complaining about Bayformers >while current Transformers promotes they/them pronoun shit
If anything bring Bay back. At least there were hot chicks and the transformations looked good.
Bay was responsible for making the franchise relevant otherwise you would get nothing. Even with a reboot you're still coping and blaming Bay after 6 years, not because the reboot was straight-up garbage or woke.
I want an actual beast wars movie, none of this piggy backing days of future past shit. Also, how you gonna rip off days of future past without giving the maximals their own movie first?
The girl in Bumblebee was cute. Of course, they had to have a black guy thirsting after her, but joke was on him because she seemed more attracted to Bumblebee than him.
I will not pay money for diversity slop
I will not pay money that goes to Ezra Miller
I will not pay money that goes to Brie Larson
I will not pay money that goes to Kathleen Kennedy
Simple as
The Terminator had a budget of $6.4 million in 1984. Adjusted for inflation that's $18.7 million today.
Joker had a budget of $55 million and that was considered low budget.
Where is all this money going? Is it simply to make up for a decline in skills and productivity?
>mermaid
Black folk >fast and furious

Black folk, pete Davidson, and the franchise being human-focused garbage since the first movie. I just wanna see the robots I don’t care about the love stories and shit >flash
Entire DC cinematic universe is garbage and hilariously miscast, including Flash even though his is not as egregious as Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Batman, in that order >elementals

Literally no one wanted any more of this after crystal skull. Also we know it’s pro women pro Black folk pro communism bullshit made by Lucasfilm which women and Black folk have been running that studio into the ground for 8 years now
12 100 million dorrer movies
24 50 million dollar movies
48 25 million dollar movies

saw groundhog day the other day and it made me wonder why they stopped making genuinely good movies
surely those kinds of movies have a better return than the continual action slop that people obviously have gotten bored off
Big studio system is collapsing. Indie movies are also in trouble because American indie directors in USA are also overinflating their budgets (latest Ari Aster is prime example). There are a couple of good ones, Safdies, Sean Baker. Mainstream is dying. A24 decided to expand from distribution to being a full fledged studio because they have their hands on the pulse. I assume NEON is also going to do that, if they haven't already (NEON is the main competitor of A24, they focus a bit more on distributing foreign films, and their had a big get with Parasite).
Think what you want, but I think that's for the better.
A24 isn't doing too good either, sure their movies are cheap but an overwhelming majority of them were shit and never made back the investment and were quickly forgotten
A24 is still mainly distributing. Even Everything Everywhere All At Once - quite a hit - wasn't actually produced by them.
Ctrl+F "Also produced" here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_A24_films , and it's only 64 films. But you can see how the amount is increasing. Most upcoming movies are already co-produced by them.
Also "quickly forgotten" is not much of an argument when we talk about indie and how many of them actually flopped is an open question, I guess I can check it right now.

Quickly forgotten is also a very dishonest metric, a company isn't going to flood social media after a movie has come out and "organic" conversation about films sure as shit doesn't happen online.
>genuinely good movies
What does this even mean and why do you morons keep saying it like “good” isn’t a subjective claim. Groundhog Day sucked balls so I’m not even going to take what you say seriously.
Stop making franchise sequels, reboots, remakes, and comic book garbage. Chinese and Indian audiences would watch these movies because they clamor for anything American with explosions, but the majority of people outside of those countries don’t want this. The American film industry needs to rethink its priorities and start funding more mid-budget, smaller pictures. Hollywood learned a similar lesson with the musical and epic genres in the 60s. I see a second New Hollywood on the horizon.
This world is fricked because of greed
No actor should earn more than a doctor or something useful
It makes a lot of money, you say? Then the extra 100 million goes to the producer!, you say
Then why the frick doesn't a movie ticket it $1 or something like that
Why is "more money" always the goal?
You hate inflation in your country
This is literally inflation, but in movies
Actors demanding more millions inflates the industry cost, frick em
You're a pinko moron. Actors get paid for the relative value they bring to a project. It's not their fault the Federal Reserve has decimated the value of currency to where a $5m salary 20 years ago is now $15m-$20m. It's not because of your homosexualy nebulous "le greed". Actors have standard quotes that the industry has determined they're worth. The price has risen because the USD is increasingly becoming worthless.
People were never paid by "usefulness" but by how hard it is to replace them.
You can't really replace a movie star. Movie star can lose their star power, and another star can emerge, but it won't be a direct replacement, because by definition a star is a specific person.
And non-star actors don't get paid that much.
You are talking as if endorsements weren't a thing which is basically your angle here
But no real business is paying robert downey junior 100 mil to promote their product, even if it gives a %100 return (And movies don't)
This only happens in the movie industry
Stop defending false leverages, every fricking actor is replaceable wtf
YOU by being scared of recast is what gives the actors that made up leverage
YOU make it possible, because you are moronic
>made up leverage
You really think the studios would pay them tens of millions if they didn't have to? There are only a handful of actually talented actors who put asses in seats on the planet. But yeah bro, it's just made up leverage and all the lawyers and agents and execs just get continuously duped.
No one is paying a SINGLE actor 100 mil. But these movies are filled with big names. And together they might get a salary of 100+ million.
Also, I myself don't give a shit about stars. But normies do. It is a fact of life. Most people like recognizable faces. To go "yeah i like that guy, gonna watch the movie". This is essentially human nature. No amount of wishful thinking can change that. This has always been the case, from the very beginning of cinema.
Made up leverage by people like you
A little shit talk? Megan fox is out
Some allegations on rl? Make your pick and the next big star is out, most recently, the Kang dude

It's midafternoon on a thursday, either you have no responsibilities or you are currently ignoring them.
Also why did you bring up the world economy, we are talking blockbuster movies.
I'm self employed and am relaxing at the moment.
People have to pay to go to the movies. They can't watch 12 movies a year anymore. They probably watch 2-3 a year now. Less money swirling around. It's seriously that fricking simple.
>They probably watch 2-3 a year now
I haven't been to a movie theater since Alien: Covenant. The movies suck now. I literally fell asleep during TFA. Woke up just in time to see Finn butcher his character arc. Frick Hollywood. I only really watch old stuff right now. On a classic cartoon kick atm. Just finished Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry. I'm onto Scooby Doo Where Are You now. >mfw Shaggy calls a gypsy wagon a gypsy wagon
1. Stop with the bloated budgets, be smarter with your money
2. Focus on entertainment not culture war politics
3. Stop making every movie so long, anything over 2 hours has to be earned from now on
4. Give up on franchises and reboots and start doing original movies.
Cut budgets and force them to rely on good writing, original and interesting premises, and basic directing. And definitely put a grinding halt to reboots, remakes, and sequels.
I had never thought about anime budget before. Holy shit. Goddamn, no wonder these fricks hate anime.
How much does a western cartoon TV series cost compared to an anime TV series?
Tbf, I think most of it comes down to the West having fricking standards when it comes to respecting employees, and unions that go along with that. Of course, that leads to everything being outsourced to Korea and some backwater countries.
>stupid live action remake of an ok animated musical from the 19 fricking 80s. >Gorilionth sequel in a trite franchise that's been creatively dead since the 2nd installment >Transformers... ???????? why, no thank you I'd rather eat literal dog shit >capeshit >pixarshit >yet ANOTHER Indiana joneshit movie
Boomers need to kick the bucket for real.
You're an idiot. They're made by suits. Most suits are boomer cretins. Kill them all. The californian kids you're talking about are just the slave monkeys doing the grunt work. They've always been just a bunch of losers. Since time immemorial. You still had a non-moron on top tho. Now it's israeli fricks with business degrees pushing for slop.
live action remake of an ok animated musical from the 19 fricking 80s.
It's because they blackwashed another redhead. And cast one of the ugliest b***hes alive to play Ariel.
spider-man is a massive ip you are trolling
if it was a live action movie it would maybe be a point but it’s a cartoon so nobody thinks of it as the real spider-man
Get writers to write good scripts. Spider-Verse is very similar in many ways to many of those but it succeeded, being good, while the others flopped for being bad.
There are no good writers because they don't buy specs like they used to. No new Shane Blacks or Tarantinos, just the latest nepo/diversity hire from commie academia who will cram the producers' awful ideas into franchise IP without question.
Make good movies.
Something that connects with audiences while not being patronizing or agenda driven.
A movie that makes excited to see what's next should be the main drive here. None of these movies really do that.
This only happens with (1) or at most (2) writers who write a script away from the influence of moron execs and producers (on spec). 99% of everything made now is a moronic studio idea based on brand recognition that 5-10 different writers are then hired for. Development and rewrites go on for years and you end up with cobbled together Franken-slop that was soulless from the point of conception. It's like the difference between John Wick and the sequels.
I'm a feature screenwriter with 20 specs under my belt. Got a literary manager in 2021 but couldn't sell anything with the Covid BS still happening. Now it's the homosexual TV writer's strike ruining shit for everyone. I know I have at least 5 good movies already written, but the opportunity keeps getting kicked down the road. Wish I was born 20 years earlier.
Change your last name, but not legally, to some israeli like Schmidt or Goldstein at least as a pen name. I know it sounds memeish, but you're more likely to get results doing that.
Already working under a pen name lol, although it doesn't sound israeli. I have multiple scripts submitted to the biggest agencies and prodcos right now, but nothing can happen until the homosexualy strike ends.
No actually, some major bears were correct but it had everything about the bad guy and plot for them wrong. The ending is also different.
I can understand an ending reshoot, but no the entire film.
I'm starting to think cinema is actually dying. Even the usual franchise slop doesn't make money in movie theaters anymore. Thanks Hollywood for murdering any semblance of imagination and then killing theaters by dumping your garbage on streaming services.
Except Blumhouse has produced zero (0) classic movies because they're so autistic about micro budgets and shoot everything on digital. ROI isn't everything.
Hollywood only cares about business at this point, their model is profitable. Also they made Get Out and that's a pretty notable movie among critics at least
>They could make four 50M movies or eight 25M movies, if one of them is a hit they make all their money back plus profit
This was literally the old model. half a dozen modestly budgeted films. A few will break even, a few will flop, and a few will be hits and be the payoff for the batch. Rinse and repeat and you get variety, interesting original movies, everyone wins.
Those are just 6 movies that flopped this summer so far. It's not even accounting for prior failures like Dungeons and Dragons, Ant-Man and Renfield, nor does it account for future failures like Aquaman 2 and Blue Beatle and even the new Dreamworks.
Hollywood is just a bloodbath this year and I have no idea how they're gonna respond because most profitble movies are still franchise films (Guardians 3, Mario). They might just double down on the same shit and waste billions more next year.
the Kraken movie Dreamworks clearly doesn't care about
i assume they're banking on that Trolls sequel for the baby money
they also have a cartoon in development that is written by Charlie Kaufman, I assume they're banking on that one for the critical praise
>I have no idea how they're gonna respond
The same way they always do, by learning the wrong lesson. They'll say they need to be even MORE cautious and only make even more bland and derivative sequels and reboots. What they really need to do id make more lower budget films and focus on good storytelling and new ideas, while also getting away from the pants on head moronic practice of dumping films on streaming 7 minutes after they leave theaters. Make people feel like the only way to watch it for the first 8 months is in a theater.
They definitely need to wait several months before putting a movie on streaming at least. Nolan was right to break relations with Warner after they put Tenet on HBO the same day. Just such a dumb fricking decision, do that for smaller scale films, not the big blockbusters
The answer is largely different for each of these.
Take Transformers for example. Maybe try making a movie that is about the robots in the title for once. 'Bumblebee' went a little more in that direction, and audiences seemed to like that.
Whereas Indiana Jones fricking 5, the answer is just don't make that movie. Consider spinning it off into a new character before you dust off Harrison Ford and prop him up in front of a camera again.
>Take Transformers for example. Maybe try making a movie that is about the robots in the title for once.
This has been the problem with the TF for the past 20ys. They decided to turn them into robot pets for humans with half the cast being kids or just young noncombatants.
All of them are damaged brands. Pixar doesn't = quality anymore.
Little Mermaid would have probably made more money if it was a white girl though. White women might praise diversity on social media but quietly didn't show up for the film.
>It made its money back
It didn't. It needed more than $560M to break even, and it won't reach that number. Even the media finally gave up and admitted it. Spider-Verse 2 already surpassed it.
>My Ariel gets Disney plus factored in with it.
lmao
Streaming services never make enough revenue/profit. Ever. They're loss leaders. Disney lost over $1.5B on their streaming platform alone last year.
it would be nice if black females didn't have to show their cleavage in order to be considered beautiful, after all the true beauty of a human being is in its soul, liberals are right about beauty standards sadly they are wrong about 90% of the shit times
hollywood is going through yet another apocolyptic slump, the slow long death of the blockbuster era coupled with the entrenchment of the streaming era
similar to the death of the studio system in the 50's&60's
just pirate this shit until they get broke enough and hungry enough to start doing unique new things again
just looked up the new Flash movie out of all these as I'm seeing generally positive comments on the board >#1 on IMDB >just came out >already noted at 150M+
it will make the money back and some i guess
DC movies arent well liked beside Batman stuff
people are tired of capeshit, but even all that, it seems to do well, so I wouldn't call this a flop
Is there anything coming out this summer that's worth going to the theater for? I really liked Mario Bros. but that was a month ago. I kind of regret not going to Dungeons and Dragons because everything else coming out looks like trash.

Jurassic World 3 is an anomaly of nature. I think audiences were just extremely bored when it came out and they would have watched paint dry. Half the dinosaur scenes aren't even in the theatrical cut and its more about giant locusts than it is about dinosaurs. The only reason I can think of why it made so much money is because it wasn't woke and audiences are so desperate for anything that isn't pushing THE MESSAGE that they put up with a bad movie as long as there were a few dinosaurs in it.

Roody poo is the result of a censored racial slur on the world's most popular english image board. People now use it in jest instead of the real word.
Due to guidelines, I can't say what it is, but if you find this image board, you will very quickly know what it is, specially on the random board.
OP is a roody-poo candy ass
is funny how Spiderverse has already beaten little mermaid even with the 1 week of advantage but no one is talking about it, so much for ''record breaking live action''
Stop making so many 200m+ movies.
This, remember 2007? Just do that shit again
this. Its just a continual cycle of issues
>movie makes good box office returns
>meaning if they pump more money into it that it'll make more money
>every movie has bloated budgets
>only franchise movies get funded
>Hollywood unions continue to bloat as well
>returns diminish because of budget, so now they chase even higher box offices
>return to step 2 and repeat
the whole fricking thing needs to collapse. 200 million budgets being the norm for an action movie is fricking insane
no dumbass just make good ones that aren’t woke? like they used to?
What was the last non woke summer blockbuster movie? Instead of using the blanket term I'm curious what your meter counts as woke.
Was the first Avengers really "woke"? I mean there was female and black superheroes, the one scene of the Holocaust survivor, but that was really it. At the very least you could say the script was written by one straight white man instead of a herd of Black person women and gays.
It's as woke as any Whedon production was, which is to say for the time it was more progressive I guess but nothing extreme.
>like they used to?
Never?
All three LotR movies were cheaper than any of these individual movies.
actually by the time ROTK was released the total cost of the trilogy was $281 million. Peter Jackson was very sneaky and spent most of the planned budget on FOTR, knowing it would need to be a hit for him to get the remainder done properly.
I mean thats still in the ballpark for one of these shitheaps.
The flash is 2 hours and 40 mins
Make it 90 minutes
Don’t film extra stuff
Write a script that’s equal to 90 minutes
There . I fixed it
You can't film a movie with that tight of a length, smartass. There needs to be extra fat to allow for decent editing.
Fricking this. Best blockbusters I have ever seen, even adjusted for inflation, had 40m budgets AT MOST before making 10x their budget back
Yeah but you can make gay little clay props and puppets now because it's not immersive!
OK, so just imagine you save an extra 5 million just for "dressing up" the rough edges of props to hide mistakes. Boom. $45 million and no shitty look claymation.
The extra money isn't for making a better sequel. It's for giving everyone bigger paychecks and for making sure your fly-by-night tertiary studio gets signed on for something not needed that you source out to india to reduce the your own costs, creating even higher returns for yourself.
How very antisemitic of you.
all that money goes to klaus schwab and WEF
not happening
None of those movies cost 200+. The majority of work is done in green screen warehouses with minimum wage film crews and CGI by literal slave shop Indian production companies. Studios just like and inflate their budgets to scam taxes. It's an open secret that corporate Hollywood is a giant tax scheme.
they still keep paying "popular" actors a ridiculous amount of money.
also, most of those movies still look pretty cheap and have shitty CGI special effects for having such insanely high budgets.
practical special effects in older movies looked much better and were cheaper
lol not going to watch any of those
is not over yet
>Only good big budget movies coming out this year are Dune and Oppenheimer
LMAO
And Barbie, let's be honest Barbie will likely be Kino as well
>Dune
troony film
Remember when every year had multiple new blockbuster high quality classic movies that would be loved for generations? There used to be things worth watching.
Dead of studio system, New Hollywood 2.0 please.
Good morning, based sir.
Franchise and IP slop needs to fricking stop. Instead of one $200m sludge bucket, make 10 $20m filmmaker driven indie kinos, introduce new talent, build up new stars and reboot the whole industry. We're long overdue for another revolution.
Moon cost $5million to make and I liked that more than all the big budget shit over the last decade.
It's gonna get old
Make better movies.
>modern movies look like shit
>cost ten times more than movies from the 80s which look better even today
lol, what the frick happened with this shitty industry?
Maybe demonizing and getting rid of all the white people wasn't such a good idea bros...
Damn you people love whining and playing victim
Why is the left using 2016 boomer rehetoric
>snowflake!
>victim complex!
Did the faceboomers really mentally scar you guys that much?
They will never forgive boomers for giving birth to them.
diversity is our strength
james cameron made a big budget movie more than 10 years ago called "avatar" that became the biggest box office hit in modern times
you forgot to mention that most of the actors are now shit as well
i guess when cgi is what carries a film you dont need your actors to be particularly good
Fast X made it's budget back, plus around 200 m illion+ on top
other's flopped and Indy will surely flop
i mean these movies are shit, but Hollywood also needs to stop overinflating it's budgets
some of these would not flop if they cost half less, and for example The Flash has such terrible CGI you really wonder where the frick the money went
>WELL, Cinemaphile?
We've given you the reason time and time again, but you won't accept it. And every time some marginal summer hit comes around, you come back to gloat about how wrong we were.
>Six expensive turds
>Six expensive flops
Shocking, have they tried, maybe, making movies around stories, not effects and messages?
The industry is shoveling the same shit and hasn't adapted their practices to how people actually consume media.
but spiderman no way home, and mario prove your hypothesis wrong.
There were 9 movies that made more than a billion in 2019. A single movie has made the same this year and 3 in 2022.
The industry is obviously in decline.
yes the industry is in decline, no its not because people have decided watching movies on their laptop on disney+ or 123movies is superior to the theater.
More than it being superior it may be that it's not worth the trouble.
not worth the trouble because.....?
because actually tickets are expensive and sitting beside stranger for more than 2 hours is kind of tiring.
for you
For a lot of people. Hence all the flops.
yup. they will only show up for good movies. glad we are in agreement.
See
No one on earth saw Avatar 2, I believe tickets for it were bought moreso than Captain Marvel.
I saw it, but I didn't like it. I saw Maverick five times.
I think Covid snapped a lot of people out of their slop consumption, on top of the insane inflation. People are just finding other things to do.
hmm it's tough to know, only 5 out of those 6 movies are sequels or remakes, i don't see any kind of pattern at all, truly a mystery
Yea make a new IP summer movie so it only makes 50 million dollars tops
Every single one of those films looks like unwatchable dog shit made for morons. That doesn't help.
I will eventually watch all of these movies on a streaming service, in the next five years. Why see them now?
But why? Most of this modern shit is so bad it's not even worth watching for free.
You’re right, I’d rather be here
Still can't believe elemental has a 200 million budget. What did they blow all that money on?
Hookers
This. They get expensive fast. If you're a virgin incel neet loser you can do quicky sessions with some escorts and it's cheap but really a chad alpha wants at least an hour. And an hour isn't enough. So it quickly gets very very expensive. You can guarantee this is where all the money is going. High class escort agencies also operate under front organisations like charities and vague service industries etc so it likely appears on the books as something innocuous.
this is slop-flation.
they have to expend much more money to make movies that are much worse than in previous years.
Pixar used to push the envelope as part of their brand, but it's far past the point of diminishing returns.
>that pic
but why
The same reason Western AAA video games have been pushing this envelope for decades past the point of diminishing returns.
is there a nsfw joke in there?
I can't see it
Haven't watched it, nor am I going to. But from the trailer the backgrounds look so dull and lifeless. I get that everything is moving but surely it doesn't justify such an extreme budget for an animated flick.
>insane effort wasted on complete garbage
worst outcome
none of this should be expensive
water and fire animations have been in video games for decades
fire animation in videogames is almost always literally an animated flat texture and water animation isn't nearly as dynamic
also AAA games are extremely expensive and often cost more than even the biggest Hollywood movies
you’re talking like chat gpt
the budgets are bullshit and everybody’s known it for a half century
nothing in the film was visually impressive
the budget in The Flash is obvious inflation bullshit out of incompetency or money laundering or whatever
the budget in Elemental is clearly on screen, the movie is still bad, and the artstyle itself is not very appealing but the money is on screen
Wait 350 million? What the actual frick lol. I thought it was like 200. They really dumped this much cash into an FF movie.
>They really dumped this much cash into an FF movie.
Most of that was spent on Brie' s fungus cream.
Rent free
Big part of the budget can be explained by the fact that there are just way too many big names in this movie:
>jason momoa
>vin diesel
>john cena
>gal gadot
>bri larson
>ludacris
>cardie b
And a bunch of others
>nothing in the film was visually impressive
Now I know where that 200 m went.
>went on diversity hires and bobba tea for the homosexual writers.
Right you weren't talking about wokeness at all, and the movie is about an interracial relationship. I assumed you got that part of the movie.
If you want to be disingenuous you don't even have to reply.
>makes shit up in his head
>calls others disingenuous
DreamWorks aren't sending their best.
It's Pixar actually
have a nice day, slime.
have a nice day irl
It's a dumb comparison to even make. "Video games do it all the time" ya, and red dead redemption 2 was said to cost 500m dollars. Like....no shit they do it all the time too.
Adobe Premiere licence
Didn't Steven Spielberg warn us about this like a decade ago?
Replacing a white lead with bipoc.
Intentionally changing a franchise which featured white characters in the majority cast to zero whites.
Replacing a white male lead with a female of any race.
Having troon or nb as a main cast member.
Promoting race mixing.
Featuring racing or muscle cars in an electric vehicle world.
Catering to female bipoc audiences who don't like sci-fi or superheroes, because you believe white males will show up for your goyslop no matter what.
Featuring gay or trans characters in g to pg13 movies for propaganda/esg purposes only.
When the frick did F&F have white majority of characters?
Transformers
Shhh, it's ok Hollywood, it will be all over soon. The darkness on set will be coming.
I can't see fast flopping, too many mexicans love it.
It's already flopped
why won't watch peole out soulless green screen remake sequel goy slop?
Our new world order focus groups and marketing teams worked so hard on this
hollywood seems to treat movies like a tv show now, where each new film in an ip is like a new season of the show
the walking dead was schlock that somehow had rising viewership over the first half a dozen seasons or so but hit the wall and that loyal audience lost all interest in the overall story
Read that in traiñer voiceover voice.
>this summer...
>six multimillion movies...
Feels good to be a spider chad.
Third one is going to flop so hard. I can't even imagine how asshurt all the White people who saw that movie are. It's gonna be Rise of Skywalker all over again.
why can’t hollywood just make something good like they used to
throw us a fricking bone israelite idiots
>second one still in theaters and you already trying to flop talk the third
LMAO
>I can't even imagine how asshurt all the White people who saw that movie are.
You poltards are so hilariously out of touch with reality. You're like the grinch standing on the mountain just knowing everyone is about to start crying.
Sup /leftypol/ your bait sucks
The only whites who saw it are self-loathing soibois
The frick are you talking about? People are treating the 2nd movie like the coming of fricking jesus for some reason. Shits more annoying than when Arcane came out
brainwashed normalgays get the frick out of my board
Why the frick is indian producing so much kino in so short format
I've watched a million tiktok vids and the pajeets literally uplift the medium with their antics
Blessed
they are an innocent race of creatures
they still understand there's only two sexes and gender is a nonsense word
and that women are dumb
It makes me so upset that Transformers has finally got some momentum going with a good but flawed movie but we're so cursed with the burden of Bay's mistakes that it's not able to carry that momentum forwards.
>Complaining about Bayformers
>while current Transformers promotes they/them pronoun shit
If anything bring Bay back. At least there were hot chicks and the transformations looked good.
bayformers 1 is clearly as good as live action transformers movies was going to get.
>muh g1 designs
does not make a movie good
Bay was responsible for making the franchise relevant otherwise you would get nothing. Even with a reboot you're still coping and blaming Bay after 6 years, not because the reboot was straight-up garbage or woke.
I want an actual beast wars movie, none of this piggy backing days of future past shit. Also, how you gonna rip off days of future past without giving the maximals their own movie first?
Bay was far superior to what’s in the theatres now.
The girl in Bumblebee was cute. Of course, they had to have a black guy thirsting after her, but joke was on him because she seemed more attracted to Bumblebee than him.
Everyone in Hollywood is brain dead from the adnrenochrome shortage.
they could support political action that would lead to economic growth instead of stagnation giving people more money to spend on movie tickets?
I will not pay money for diversity slop
I will not pay money that goes to Ezra Miller
I will not pay money that goes to Brie Larson
I will not pay money that goes to Kathleen Kennedy
Simple as
>gas is expensive
>movie tickets are expensive
>snacks are expensive
>people are annoying
>I can watch literally anything I want at any time at home in the quality I choose for basically free
Gee, I dunno. The only reason to go out is to have night on the town with the girlfriend. and I have no girlfriend :'(
The Terminator had a budget of $6.4 million in 1984. Adjusted for inflation that's $18.7 million today.
Joker had a budget of $55 million and that was considered low budget.
Where is all this money going? Is it simply to make up for a decline in skills and productivity?
actors earn 10x as much today as they did in 1984
>movie with no stars and small cast vs movie with two stars and a large cast
Get Out (2017) cost $4.5 million and made $255 million. you pick your examples I'll pick mine.
imagine financing that flick.
god damn what a payout
>mermaid
Black folk
>fast and furious
No idea I watched the first one which sucked ass so I have no idea how or why they’re still going
>transformers
Black folk, pete Davidson, and the franchise being human-focused garbage since the first movie. I just wanna see the robots I don’t care about the love stories and shit
>flash
Entire DC cinematic universe is garbage and hilariously miscast, including Flash even though his is not as egregious as Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Batman, in that order
>elementals
homosexual woman story ab muh racism. Also normies have finally realized Disney is pure evil
>Indiana Jones
Literally no one wanted any more of this after crystal skull. Also we know it’s pro women pro Black folk pro communism bullshit made by Lucasfilm which women and Black folk have been running that studio into the ground for 8 years now
Frick women and frick Black folk
12 100 million dorrer movies
24 50 million dollar movies
48 25 million dollar movies
its a numbers game where you cannot predict the future, instead of playing the actual game studio continue to double down on large budgets for 'safe' bets that have a higher chance of failure
saw groundhog day the other day and it made me wonder why they stopped making genuinely good movies
surely those kinds of movies have a better return than the continual action slop that people obviously have gotten bored off
Big studio system is collapsing.
Streaming services killed cinema
surely if they reduced the cost of the film they'd make more money
Made up leverage by people like you
A little shit talk? Megan fox is out
Some allegations on rl? Make your pick and the next big star is out, most recently, the Kang dude
Made up leverage
Kang actor wasn't a star, it was all shilling by Yisney. Megan Fox ran her course, no one replaced her tho. There's no "new Megan Fox".
People were never paid by "usefulness" but by how hard it is to replace them.
You can't really replace a movie star. Movie star can lose their star power, and another star can emerge, but it won't be a direct replacement, because by definition a star is a specific person.
And non-star actors don't get paid that much.
>meanwhile european cinema keep churning out the same crap they've done since the 90s
Some of you guys are clearly underage or have zero responsibility since not one person said the entire world is in economic decline.
It's seriously that fricking simple.
and theyre choosing to do so because........?
THE MOVIES ARE FRICKING SHIT. but they still line up for top guy, avatar, and nolan kinos. glad we are in agrement
Henlo based department? You're gonna wanna sit down for this one.
normies are tired of the Social Justice trend and just want well written movies now
3/6 are Disney. 4/6 are Disney and DC. Only Kraven will save us
>kravens the Hunter
>doesn't hunt
Instant flop
IT'S KRAVEN' TIME!
>Kraves all over some fools
He hunts Russians
The fed have printed thousands of billions. Now $200 millions is pocket money.
Get woke go broke. Except for The Flash, this movie bombed because Ezra and brown Supergirl.
>what should studios do
Stop making shit movies?
good action shlock was never meant to cost this much to make
1. Stop with the bloated budgets, be smarter with your money
2. Focus on entertainment not culture war politics
3. Stop making every movie so long, anything over 2 hours has to be earned from now on
4. Give up on franchises and reboots and start doing original movies.
>2. Focus on entertainment not culture war politics
But their egs score will suffer, hurting their budget
>the higher the budget the shittier the film
>the goyim are sick of goyslop
Cut budgets and force them to rely on good writing, original and interesting premises, and basic directing. And definitely put a grinding halt to reboots, remakes, and sequels.
Stop racially attacking Whites
~~*(whites*~~))
Yeah Hollywood is really sticking it to the israelites
MAKE MORE! This is now the Golden Age of Flops ( :
Maybe stop making complete fricking garbage?
I had never thought about anime budget before. Holy shit. Goddamn, no wonder these fricks hate anime.
How much does a western cartoon TV series cost compared to an anime TV series?
Anime cost something like 2 millions for 12 episode of 20 minutes
TV wise anime is way more expensive, movie wise western animation is money laundering tier
Tbf, I think most of it comes down to the West having fricking standards when it comes to respecting employees, and unions that go along with that. Of course, that leads to everything being outsourced to Korea and some backwater countries.
>stupid live action remake of an ok animated musical from the 19 fricking 80s.
>Gorilionth sequel in a trite franchise that's been creatively dead since the 2nd installment
>Transformers... ???????? why, no thank you I'd rather eat literal dog shit
>capeshit
>pixarshit
>yet ANOTHER Indiana joneshit movie
Boomers need to kick the bucket for real.
Those movies are not made by boomers of for boomers. They are made by moronic spoiled californian kids of millionaires.
Remake, franchise, franchise, franchise, GLOBOHOMO, franchise
Get your shit together, Hollywood.
Go woke go broke also I don't watch any movies made post 2005 because I'm not moronic
>Go woke go broke
>Black Spider-Man is the king of blockbuster summer
Cope.
spider-man is a massive ip you are trolling
if it was a live action movie it would maybe be a point but it’s a cartoon so nobody thinks of it as the real spider-man
>DC, Marvel, Disney are not massive IPs and still flopped while Spider-Verse beat them
Sure, bud. Keep that copium going.
>Makes 1/3 of what the white homosexual Spiderman makes
Go back to your dirt field monkey
>3 Spider-Men did 3 times more than one Spider-Man
Makes sense, dumbass.
Look at this moron
>moving goalposts
Went woke, not broke. Cry more, homosexual.
>Won't even make 1 Billie
Broke Black person
Broker israelite.
>Black Spider-Man
He was buck broken at the same time by his troony love interest, so that anon is technically correct.
This will never be true, no matter how many times you parrot it, Chudgenda.
>Get in bed with progressives
>They make you into a homosexual
Stay mad
>some unofficial page with a docentes views
Wow, I'm convinced.
Stop making movies with +200m budgets
Get writers to write good scripts. Spider-Verse is very similar in many ways to many of those but it succeeded, being good, while the others flopped for being bad.
There are no good writers because they don't buy specs like they used to. No new Shane Blacks or Tarantinos, just the latest nepo/diversity hire from commie academia who will cram the producers' awful ideas into franchise IP without question.
Because they don't want to pay for work. They think you can just plug Michael Keaton saying the line and the monkeys will come to clap.
The Mario Movie proves them right on that point.
rofl the flash poster, i get he's meant to be running but he looks like a midge
All of them are Capeshit
Movies are for the israelites.
The israelite is evil and must be destroyed.
So we're not getting good movies then is what you're saying.
Sour movies.
Indy is out?
I wonder if maybe they should have paid their writers a better wage
Bad movies familia.
Chud.
so the uber woke indy script leak was legit i take it?
but all the producers and director said the leak was completely fake? they obviously wouldnt just shamelessly lie in self service like that
John Williams himself (accidentally) confirmed the reshoots they had to do because the reactions to the test screenings were so piss-poor.
It's needs a reset.
We're in a creative slump. Let some truly monumental war or disaster happen and the creative juices will get flowing again in its aftermath
Uhh did you miss the whole mass planet psychosis of medical tyranny that just happened? Also we're literally on the brink of nuclear war with Russia.
start making movies with white male action stars
not ugly or old israelites or ugly women/browns
They could make four 50M movies or eight 25M movies, if one of them is a hit they make all their money back plus profit
The only sensible producer in Hollywood is Jason Blum
Except Blumhouse has produced zero (0) classic movies because they're so autistic about micro budgets and shoot everything on digital. ROI isn't everything.
Insidious?
Hollywood only cares about business at this point, their model is profitable. Also they made Get Out and that's a pretty notable movie among critics at least
Have there been any recent Blumhouse movies that weren't profitable?
Nearly impossible given the budgets
>They could make four 50M movies or eight 25M movies, if one of them is a hit they make all their money back plus profit
This was literally the old model. half a dozen modestly budgeted films. A few will break even, a few will flop, and a few will be hits and be the payoff for the batch. Rinse and repeat and you get variety, interesting original movies, everyone wins.
Wasn't summer supposed to be the best season for movies?
Find something new.
Dial of Destiny will be joining them next week.
9/10. Could have been 10/10 if he did the Joker face when he walked away.
Harrison Ford was already too old when he made Indy 4, let alone 5.
>Take Transformers for example. Maybe try making a movie that is about the robots in the title for once.
This has been the problem with the TF for the past 20ys. They decided to turn them into robot pets for humans with half the cast being kids or just young noncombatants.
All of them are garbage
All of them are damaged brands. Pixar doesn't = quality anymore.
Little Mermaid would have probably made more money if it was a white girl though. White women might praise diversity on social media but quietly didn't show up for the film.
My Ariel didn't flop though. It made its money back even before Disney plus and renting revenue.
>It made its money back
It didn't. It needed more than $560M to break even, and it won't reach that number. Even the media finally gave up and admitted it. Spider-Verse 2 already surpassed it.
Nope. My Ariel gets Disney plus factored in with it. Plus the box office isn't over.
We won. Get over it.
>My Ariel gets Disney plus factored in with it.
lmao
Streaming services never make enough revenue/profit. Ever. They're loss leaders. Disney lost over $1.5B on their streaming platform alone last year.
You lost
it would be nice if black females didn't have to show their cleavage in order to be considered beautiful, after all the true beauty of a human being is in its soul, liberals are right about beauty standards sadly they are wrong about 90% of the shit times
>Black people suck at math
In other news, water is wet
CAPESHIT IS DEAD
FRICKING FINALLY
MAKE SOME FRICKING ORIGINAL CONTENT NOW YOU israeliteS
Kek
I love pajeets sometimes.
hollywood is going through yet another apocolyptic slump, the slow long death of the blockbuster era coupled with the entrenchment of the streaming era
similar to the death of the studio system in the 50's&60's
just pirate this shit until they get broke enough and hungry enough to start doing unique new things again
Fast X flopped? I have a hard time believing that.
It costed 400m to make
that's pathetic though.
Imagine being so fricking salty.
Toasty
Make them more woke.
just looked up the new Flash movie out of all these as I'm seeing generally positive comments on the board
>#1 on IMDB
>just came out
>already noted at 150M+
it will make the money back and some i guess
DC movies arent well liked beside Batman stuff
people are tired of capeshit, but even all that, it seems to do well, so I wouldn't call this a flop
#1 visited page is nothing.
"already" at 150? Spiderverse did 200 the weekend alone.
>spiderverse has a homie MC
>marvel
>and its basically a cartoon
no shit it did better
movies need to make triple their budget to be a moderate success
Theaters take half the profits, Anon.
So she dumped him then? Who in their right mind would dump that delicious thicc pajeeta?
Probably because she only has one outfit and probably doesn’t wash it regularly
>WELL, Cinemaphile?
stop remaking movies and gender and race bending them
>no joker face as he walks away
otherwise pretty solid
Based Chadjeet playfully messing around with his ex-girlfriend all the while supporting her business.
stopping making shit movies would be a good start
Is there anything coming out this summer that's worth going to the theater for? I really liked Mario Bros. but that was a month ago. I kind of regret not going to Dungeons and Dragons because everything else coming out looks like trash.
Oppenheimer
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Wick 4
Spider-Verse
in order of watchability. The rest is all barely worth catching on television.

2016 called, grandpa, they want their buzzwords back. The correct term is "woke".
im not using woke cause homosexuals like yourself overused that word
ill keep with the classics
Jurassic World 3 is an anomaly of nature. I think audiences were just extremely bored when it came out and they would have watched paint dry. Half the dinosaur scenes aren't even in the theatrical cut and its more about giant locusts than it is about dinosaurs. The only reason I can think of why it made so much money is because it wasn't woke and audiences are so desperate for anything that isn't pushing THE MESSAGE that they put up with a bad movie as long as there were a few dinosaurs in it.
Shit marketing. I didn't even know a new Transformers was in the making or that it came out
candy ass roody poo
Roody-Poos are offended
roody-poo
Roody poo is the result of a censored racial slur on the world's most popular english image board. People now use it in jest instead of the real word.
Due to guidelines, I can't say what it is, but if you find this image board, you will very quickly know what it is, specially on the random board.
OP is a roody-poo candy ass
Are you trolling or is it real. Please don’t be another forced meme
is funny how Spiderverse has already beaten little mermaid even with the 1 week of advantage but no one is talking about it, so much for ''record breaking live action''
