It's one of the reasons why I find the concept of dark skinned or black Kryptonians from that Island or whatever it was to be extremely ridiculous. Seeing as they try to give semi logical explanation to everything.
It's ironic that it could just be construed as "alien races work differently than human ones that look similar" but we all know it was actually because the author/editor wanted some race mixing in there. Sad!
