I've started and quit Moore's Supreme like twice now. I just can't get over the oh-so-clever metacommentary regarding retcons and different runs. I just can't get into stuff that throws it right at you out at the gate.
I mean in an actual fight, Homelander, but Alexandria is a far more competent person on an organizational level. Homelander's team is a bunch of corporate sponsored frickwits, Alexandria's is doing more good AND more evil than his idiots.
>I mean in an actual fight, Homelander
Are you fricking stupid? Homelander has fought, maybe, two actual hero-fights, ever. He's a celebrity who occasionally murders civilians with his powers. Alexandria fights unkillable kaiju hand-to-hand every three months. He wouldn't land a single hit, she'd rip out his fricking intestines.
Same applies. He's maybe slightly more durable, but he's still fricking moronic, for one- he's got no idea how to fight, and even besides that, Alexandria's invulnerability is on another level entirely. He's 'extremely durable,' she's 'physically inviolable.' The only people in her setting capable of harming her are ones with weird physics-breaking effects like Foil or the Siberian. Homelander couldn't break her skin- the only conceivable way he could even harm her would be to deprive her of oxygen with heat vision, which would require her to stand in place for several minutes while he did that.

Fanfiction is relevant here because the first time I came across The Sentry was in a BTVS/Avengers crossover where Xander ended up in Marvel during the civil war but he was in the body of Power Girl.

Huh, I've heard of that but don't really know anything about it.
Characters from the webnovel Worm which is a pretty fun superhero deconstruction and reconstruction
One thing I always liked about it was how it didn’t use straight hero stand ins and instead created multiple heroes each representing one trait
For example Spider-Man became >Skitter with the spider theme, glasses, and bullied background, and guilt complex >Kid Win with the gadgets and nerdy side of Peter Parker >Clockblocker with the Spider-Man personality and Uncle Ben with great power comes great responsibility
That's a really interesting way of going about superhero parodies/references.

Same here. Honestly I think the issue is that the E88 and ABB are groups of evil hooligans who are led by what feel like traditional supervillains.
Like Lung always struck me as super evil not because of those things but because of his apathy. He wanted to create a place where people of mixed races like himself could avoid pain, but he didn’t care who suffered in order to gain that power. Because of that, I think he wasn’t personally responsible for the slavery but did nothing to stop it. As long as he got money, he didn’t care who paid the price. Just like a traditional dragon

Nomar Garciaparra knocks it outta the frickin park!
I think the most realiatic representation of Superman was John Hanwiener. It made sense because the world he lived in wasn't built for his powers. Everything was like card board to him but he didn't want to hurt anyone.
[...]
Apollo is frustrating because his Ellis personality is way better than what came after, but since Midnighter was more bombastic and masculine looking, writers reduced him to just Midnighter’s wife and gay Superman. Ellis' Apollo was oddly detached and unemotional and honestly wasn’t very open/nice to people who weren’t his friends/family. Much closer personality wise to pre batgod Batman than Superman. Didn’t have qualms about killing but didn’t relish in it like Midnighter.
Midnighter was the more emotional one, obviously being very angry and relishing in violence, but he also cried in front of the whole Stormwatch team when Bendix was finally out of the picture (until he wasn’t). He also was bothered by the idea of being “made” by Bendix instead of being a normal human whereas Apollo didn’t really care about that. And IIRC according to Jenny Fractal and Bendix, Midnighter was engineered to like violence but Bendix didn't do that to Apollo which raises some questions.
did not do wonders to his character but at least it was hot

I just wonder who would be the brace soul standing up to the Authority's, well, authority in his book. Because you know he'd have them go full Injustice.
I actually really like the idea behind Sentry, but I dunno if many good stories have actually been written about him. I sorta think he would have been better off as something unique and not part of the marvel universe.
And DC fricked it up by making him blond with a buzzcut. His long white hair was his thing and the halo looks better when his hair is white and not yellow.
I agree. He's not really much besides Midnighter's sidekick and by extension, one of Jenny's gay dads.

not an expy even though superman predates him modern superman owes a lot to Captain Marvel such as >flight >a "family" of characters >bald scientist villain >the wackiness of silver age superman
and lets not act like golden age superman didn't steal things from other characters too like hugo danner
did the creator ever confirm he was directly based on him source? and if so does that make superman a doc savage expy? even without getting into that gladiator book
Same here. Well, I care about him, Shinso, Mei, Toga and Twice.
Manga would’ve been much better if Shinso was the main character and Toga and Twice were the villains. Showing a Superman like character forced to confront how society looks down upon “ugly” powers while training a young man who is demonized by his peers
That's fair. >What if a Superman expy lost his powers but had to move on with his life

What's wrong with supporting independent art? Are you a corpo shill?
Not Cinemaphile
Never Cinemaphile
Bot
Hmm... I hope my more straight up expies can work still in my capeshit universe idea.
poor Alexandria, went nuts because her sexy tinker bf (or bff) died
>Adam Warlock
What
If you ask Zack Snyder they are both Jesus expies
Your mind on abrahamism.
Suppaman isn't evil, he's just an idiot.
>Japanese symbol for su
Funny.
Who the frick is that to the right of Nolan?
I consider what he did evil
Tighten is evil jimmy olsen
Captain Pollution is Evil Captain Planet though.
I was going to roll my eyes on this picture, but who is this guy. Of all bad Superman this guy stand out for me, mainly he look very old timey.
He's captain atom. The original one from charlton comics, not the rebooted dc one.
Omni-man isn't "What if Superman was evil"
He's "What if General Zodd wad subtle"
Suppaman is the best among all those.
What if you add some other Japanese Superman clones like Goku, All Might, etc?
>the character Moore wanted you to hate
>the character Moore successfully made me hate
Rorschach is a hypocrite
Well yeah, you're a fart-huffing navel-gazer, the intended audience.
What if they make a Superman who isn't as strong as he makes himself out to be?
I think the most realiatic representation of Superman was John Hanwiener. It made sense because the world he lived in wasn't built for his powers. Everything was like card board to him but he didn't want to hurt anyone.
The one I just made p who is also conventiently the only male super hero in the setting and I am now going to write erotic fiction about. Goodbye.
Really wish he didn’t get molested
Same that and
did not do wonders to his character but at least it was hot
Just disregard Millar.
Was it Frank or Mark
Mark, Frank is Miller. Frank would have been weird but I think more fun.
Oh, man. Frank Miller's Authority would be nuts.
And a lot less fedora atheism, exploded babies and rape.
I just wonder who would be the brace soul standing up to the Authority's, well, authority in his book. Because you know he'd have them go full Injustice.
Miller, Millar. Tomato. Potato.
Ellis. Ennis. Moore. Morrison. Hergé. Hitler.
Probably The Sentry, as controversial as that is. I like the idea of "Superman but mentally ill"
I actually really like the idea behind Sentry, but I dunno if many good stories have actually been written about him. I sorta think he would have been better off as something unique and not part of the marvel universe.
>I like the idea of "Superman but mentally ill"
Ah, so you like what they've been doing with Jon Kent.
I refuse to believe Apollo is anybody's favorite anything.
The dude has like 3 different personalities that are all very different from each other and only has like maybe 4 impressive feats.
I like Apollo solely because of his appearance.
And DC fricked it up by making him blond with a buzzcut. His long white hair was his thing and the halo looks better when his hair is white and not yellow.
I agree. He's not really much besides Midnighter's sidekick and by extension, one of Jenny's gay dads.
>What if Superman fricked
>Like, a lot
Like, at least 5 times.
6 times actually
How strong was Dynamo? I saw this one comic cover with him, Supreme, and Omni Man on it.
Do they count?
Are you genuinely moronic?
not an expy even though superman predates him modern superman owes a lot to Captain Marvel such as
>flight
>a "family" of characters
>bald scientist villain
>the wackiness of silver age superman
and lets not act like golden age superman didn't steal things from other characters too like hugo danner
He was directly inspired by superman. Sure, he has powers that superman either didn't have or got later but he is a superman expy.
did the creator ever confirm he was directly based on him source? and if so does that make superman a doc savage expy? even without getting into that gladiator book
Yeah it's pretty much confirmed.
DC has sent you a letter, they'll see you in court anon
These expies are now in the power of stardust
>what if Superman was a highly competent vengeful god who dealt out old testament style punishment on the wicked
Stardust is forever based
For me, it's Mr Majestic.
Good choice, my man. Alan Moore wrote him well.
What is going on
Unironically All Might.
He's really the only character I care about in that series though.
>What if a Superman expy lost his powers but had to move on with his life
Is much more refreshing than
>What if a Superman expy let his power go to his head
I don't care much for Zero Macadamia, but his fight with All-For-One is the best "Superman's Last Fight" I've read in years.
One of these two
Whose that on the left
Scion. Basically Doctor Manhattan as an alien with the intelligence of a hamster
Oh I hadn't seen that picture of him before. Though I usually don't go looking for Scion art.
"What if Superman had a truly alien mind" (as opposed to the Sentry, who's all too human).
I like the entities, I just wish we could have seen another alien
Gladiator sweeps, he has no upper limit.
That's good guy hyperion. His upper limit was beyonders: the race.
Sentry as presented will probably win, as Merged it looks like a mismatch, or the rest could team up.
Where should I start with Supreme?
I hate what they did to him when they ended Wildstorm.
>during he generic insane warlord now hurr
It's one of the most bog standard whatif superman gone bad stories but it got so wacky and off the rails by the end that it was kind of compelling.
UGHHHH YOU LEARNED MY SECRET IDENTITY, REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Is the Statesman a Superman expy?
I miss City of Heroes, man.
>Which one is your favorite?
?feature=shared
If nothing else, he has a baller supersuit
Gladiator easily. It's just a shame that Marvel is jobbing Gladiator in favor of wanking off the mutants.
I can't stand the mohawk at all, otherwise he is a good one
Vulcan was the most interesting character in that book
