I've started and quit Moore's Supreme like twice now. I just can't get over the oh-so-clever metacommentary regarding retcons and different runs. I just can't get into stuff that throws it right at you out at the gate.

I mean in an actual fight, Homelander, but Alexandria is a far more competent person on an organizational level. Homelander's team is a bunch of corporate sponsored frickwits, Alexandria's is doing more good AND more evil than his idiots.

            >I mean in an actual fight, Homelander
Are you fricking stupid? Homelander has fought, maybe, two actual hero-fights, ever. He's a celebrity who occasionally murders civilians with his powers. Alexandria fights unkillable kaiju hand-to-hand every three months. He wouldn't land a single hit, she'd rip out his fricking intestines.

Same applies. He's maybe slightly more durable, but he's still fricking moronic, for one- he's got no idea how to fight, and even besides that, Alexandria's invulnerability is on another level entirely. He's 'extremely durable,' she's 'physically inviolable.' The only people in her setting capable of harming her are ones with weird physics-breaking effects like Foil or the Siberian. Homelander couldn't break her skin- the only conceivable way he could even harm her would be to deprive her of oxygen with heat vision, which would require her to stand in place for several minutes while he did that.

Not to mention Alexandria is far faster. IIRC she can fly around Earth in 6 minutes.

Now I'm picturing Alexandria standing still as Homelander hammers her with his fists as It Has to Be This Way plays in the background.

I’d like to imagine Homelander’s reaction to finding out Skitter defeated the hero he couldn’t even scratch.
also Vought would totally cut a deal with the Undersiders and leave them alone in exchange for spidersilk products and the ability to use them as a Thanos style threat in the VCU movies

Probably The Sentry, as controversial as that is. I like the idea of "Superman but mentally ill"

Fanfiction is relevant here because the first time I came across The Sentry was in a BTVS/Avengers crossover where Xander ended up in Marvel during the civil war but he was in the body of Power Girl.

Eidolon stared at her for a moment. As the seconds ticked by, so did their project. Ashley despaired. If she couldn't get Eidolon through an easy sell like this, then how would she get him anywhere else? He wasn't even ready for the Bidet sponsorship she'd fought tooth and nail to line up.

"I don't want to," he said at last.

                "What?"

"I don't want to! I have better things to do with my time. Like saving lives. Selling toilet paper with a CGI bear is humiliating."

Ashley stomped forward until her legs were on either side of Eidolon's, and jammed her finger in his face.

"Selling toilet paper is the easiest thing in the world! People are never not going to have to shit! And yet you seem to struggle with even this. And by the way. That CGI bear has a higher approval rating than you in four continents, so watch your fricking tone."

Huh, I've heard of that but don't really know anything about it.

Characters from the webnovel Worm which is a pretty fun superhero deconstruction and reconstruction
One thing I always liked about it was how it didn’t use straight hero stand ins and instead created multiple heroes each representing one trait
            For example Spider-Man became
            >Skitter with the spider theme, glasses, and bullied background, and guilt complex
            >Kid Win with the gadgets and nerdy side of Peter Parker
            >Clockblocker with the Spider-Man personality and Uncle Ben with great power comes great responsibility

That's a really interesting way of going about superhero parodies/references.

Honestly what always interested me about the Empire is how the strongest members didn’t actually buy into Nazi ideology too much.
Kaiser doesn’t buy it but sees it as a user tool for control and thus encourages it, and Hookwolf believes is might makes right which means he is normally racially biased but he is willing to admit when he’s wrong and accept when another person is stronger. The only exception being Shatterbird because he thought she was crazy.

The pure Nazis of the group, Night, Fog, Alabaster, Purity, they’re all dumb fodder who just follow the others, and I find that interesting

Same here. Honestly I think the issue is that the E88 and ABB are groups of evil hooligans who are led by what feel like traditional supervillains.

Like Lung always struck me as super evil not because of those things but because of his apathy. He wanted to create a place where people of mixed races like himself could avoid pain, but he didn’t care who suffered in order to gain that power. Because of that, I think he wasn’t personally responsible for the slavery but did nothing to stop it. As long as he got money, he didn’t care who paid the price. Just like a traditional dragon

Apollo is frustrating because his Ellis personality is way better than what came after, but since Midnighter was more bombastic and masculine looking, writers reduced him to just Midnighter’s wife and gay Superman. Ellis' Apollo was oddly detached and unemotional and honestly wasn’t very open/nice to people who weren’t his friends/family. Much closer personality wise to pre batgod Batman than Superman. Didn’t have qualms about killing but didn’t relish in it like Midnighter.

Midnighter was the more emotional one, obviously being very angry and relishing in violence, but he also cried in front of the whole Stormwatch team when Bendix was finally out of the picture (until he wasn’t). He also was bothered by the idea of being “made” by Bendix instead of being a normal human whereas Apollo didn’t really care about that. And IIRC according to Jenny Fractal and Bendix, Midnighter was engineered to like violence but Bendix didn't do that to Apollo which raises some questions.

did not do wonders to his character but at least it was hot
