Superman looks weird when he hovers

Look at his feet, they're pointed straight down. It's completely unnatural. Is this ever explained in canon?

Super wants to keep his kino look. Hovering is the perfect time for plantar flexion work

Because it lets the reader know the legs are mostly just dangling. If you’re sitting on tall barstools your feet don’t just dangle flat the toes dip down.

It’s actually not easier at all, it usually makes the angle more difficult. Flat just doesn’t look aesthetically appealing, it’s less streamlined and doesn’t give the look of the legs being unflexed.

he's actually paralysed from the ankles down

When Superman flies, he usually points his body where he wants to go which involves pointing his toes away and his arms forwards. He's directing the force of his hover with his feet. That's my no-prize answer.

He has heavy toes that act as a ballast to keep himself upright, as he levitates by a slow-release superfart. He positions his colon and puckers his anus so that it points straight down.

Well, what would the most natural pose for a human(oid) floating unaided?
The closest reference we have to that in real life is people swimming in water, which is what Superman's flight poses loosely imitate.

Sit on the edge of a chair with your feet dangling. That's what it should look like. The pose in the picture is him actively pointing his feet down.

What about when he flies backwards?

His toes still point away, but less precisely. Also, "sitting on an invisible chair" is also a weird hover pose. Standing with feet slightly pointed downwards would look better than OP and your idea.

He's not saying Superman should fly in a sitting pose you dumbass.

Feet pointing down is natural when you're relaxed anon. It's why there are boots to put on your feet/legs to force your feet to make a perpendicular line with your leg when you're sleeping to prevent/help with plantar fasciitis.

It’s as natural as it gets. Have you never dangled your feet from a ledge? What a dumb thread.

It just looks better. If his feet were pointing forward it would look too much like he's standing on an invisible box.
