Started watching He-man. At first I thought it would be silly, goofy, corny and it does have that quality but surprisingly it was unironically entertaining. The first 14 episodes were ok but "Prince Adam No More" was actually really good in my opinion. I don't know I guess I was coming in cynical and was surprised that this wasn't some rose-tinted glasses phenomenon where only people that grew up with it loved it.

Kind of feels like you should form your own opinions and not just spout those of other's on the internet.
Its a kids show for kids, with m o r a l s
shows like masters of the universe and gi joe had no right to have such authentic moral teaching cores that hold up to this day
Amazing what a group of white men can achieve when they follow their passion, and they are not stifled by israeli commissions and DEI guidelines
The moral in each episode WAS forced on them by guidelines, the only way they could get away with producing toy advertisement cartoons like that was if they included obligatory moral lessons so parents couldn't complain there was no value to watching it outside of shilling their product.
It's a genuinely soulful show and it's sad a lot of people can't look past the production values. Very unique setting with lovable characters and timeless morals.
He-Man is earnest show, where Thundercats is pure soulless shit
>Pure soulless shit
How so?
Still the only good MOTU show
Always thought it was weird how this show had so many side characters that looked like they did not come from this series at all. They would randomly have a village of gnomes or squirrel people that looked like they stepped right out of some Happy Forest Friends cutesy show and did not match all the barbarian dudes in loincloths. Loads of poorly drawn monster people that looked like something from 60s Hanna Barbera Yogi shorts.
Just whenever a character was not a ripped muscley guy or hot woman, they looked like they did not belong in the same setting.
You mean like these guys? I think if you changed the eyes they might fit, like some gnomes in an eternian forest somewhere.
Am I misremembering or did the one on the right show up a lot? Had forgotten about this little fricker.
There's a series bible where the Widgets were Dwarves. In the years between 1974 and 1982, Dungeons & Dragons-style fantasy had become very popular and the December 1982 series bible name-checked a whole bunch of races that didn't end up getting used in stock form.
For example, the name "goblin" ended up being applied to a 6-foot-tall race with jetpacks and tame sauropods.
Isn't this the episode where Skeletor meets up with his good friend the evil overlord guy and they have coffee together and share stories like two old friends?
It's "Arena". Skeletor meets up with the goblin overlord guy, Tartaran, then an alien made out of energy makes them stop fighting King Randor and He-Man.
There's also "Castle of Heroes", where Skeletor meets up with his old evil overlord friend Monteeg, who's magically collected tough guys from Earth history.
There were some gopher people that used crystals to turn invisible, that one seemed the most out of place to me.
It was written as a generic heroic fantasy, not Conan for kids and smol fairytale creatures are perfect for bullying. It did come off more like a weird hybrid between their action shows and their comedy shows though.
The rest is Filmation not changing a lot stylistically since that same 60's period.
These old cartoons were written by professional who wanted to make shows that kids would find entertaining enough so they’d want to buy the toys but not so offensive that their parents would ban them from watching
Modern cartoons are written by childish adults working out their psychological issues
