Maybe they didn't grant her anything. Perhaps she took control over something. Maybe she waited until a bunch of the top people were frozen and pulled one out to switch places. She's definitely not a ghoul

yes. its pretty obvious if you arent one of the morons in this thread who act as if every unanswered question = bad writing.

we are shown that vault 4 and 32 were both compromised by surface dwellers "long before". vault 4 is full of refugees from shady sands. where she was a member of the community. could have been vault 4. could have been another vault. but the implication is there that she brought vault-tech technology to share with surface dwellers.

        >she was a commie why would any company grant her a spot in one of the vaults? and not every vault had cryo chambers.
she was a "scientist" who developed the cold fusion infinite energy mcguffin. she got kicked out/left when her infinite energy research was shelved because it "wasnt profitable to provide infinite energy". she obviously spent time in a cryo chamber to be alive that long, as that is implied how the "managers" would all run their vaults over time - by taking turns taking cryo naps.

She was rich and had access to the same cryogenics Vault 31 had. Pre war she probably had access to the Vault 31/32/33 complex at some point and that's how she knew how to get inside so easily. She'd only been thawed and on the surface long enough to get a reputation as a brutal gang leader, not for the whole 200 years.

      Anonymous

also she wasn't a brutal gang leader from the getgo she started rebuilding civilization with rose and they got nuked. she probably still got some clout and some men behind her after so she started her own little faction

        Anonymous

        >she started rebuilding civilization with rose
Anon SS has been on that map for hundreds of years at this point. And if the implication is that she just recently woke up then she shouldnt be anything more than a civilian scientist.

        >they got nuked

          Anonymous

You're right that she probably didn't start it but she seems to be a big part of it. She probably fricked off to SS as soon as she was thawed from 31 or from another cryo vault as she seems to be have been there before rose. Hank probably have never met her which is why he didn't recognize her in ep1

            Anonymous

Hank did meet her because he goes to SS to convince them to come back to the vault but they refuse. He doesnt just NUKE SS because its some city that his vault has no knowledge about, he obviously should have seen her

          Anonymous

          >shouldnt be anything more than a civilian scientist
          Yeah pretty much.
The NCR had a university with a fully fledged theoretical physics department. At best she would have moved their fusion research ahead by a decade or two.
That is something the show doesn't take into account; just the sheer scale of industrialization and modernization occurring within the NCR. Before SS got nuked the nation had a fully functioning rail network and was probably a few years away from a space program. Nuking one city isn't going to throw society back into the stone-ages all over again (as depicted in the show).
Though tbh the more far fetched thing is expecting some random pre-war scientist to have the wherewithal to become a gang leader in the wasteland.

Here we go again. Assuming The Mr. House ending of New Vegas is canon here's the ending text:

    "
Mr. House's Securitron army took control of Hoover Dam and the Strip, pushing both the Legion and the exhausted NCR out of New Vegas. Mr. House continued to run New Vegas his way, a despotic vision of pre-War glory. The streets were orderly, efficient, cold. New Vegas continued to be the sole place in the wasteland where fortunes were won and lost in the blink of an eye

    Captcha: KYS. Fricking rude, man.

the enclave are the people in the shadows on the balcony above the boardroom meeting between vaulttech, robco, etc.

the obvious implication is that the enclave manipulated the corporations to fight amongst each other in some type of darwinist survival of the fittest competition.

cryyo tubes were shown, obvious implication was she used one.
became head of NCR because she woke up when the vaults nuked sandy shades and she disagreed and decided to leave and fight the corporations/enclave/etc. took over NCR using promises of her cold fusion energy. got them to go on a raid with her to a vault to get the man who can activate it.

all of that doesnt change my opinion that you are moronic if you cant infer where the plotlines in this show are going. whether or not the show is good, you are moronic if you are one of the people asking any of these basic b***h questions ITT.

she woke up around the time of shady sands. she obviously hasnt been around that long or they would have aged her up with makeup. the implication is that she was only awakened recently(around shady sand's time) and that it's nuking was the catalyst for her to go after the vaults.

they show that she developed the cold-fusion infinite energy tech BEFORE the war and vault-tech shelved it as "not-profitable" versus their plan to have nuclear wars "for profit".

the enclave would rather keep re-nuking the world over and over for profit than use infinite energy to rebuild it.

having a cult of people from one of those nuked cities worship her as savior because she exposes that plot and tells them she can give them infinite energy to rebuild is 100% in line with kooky cults in fallout. or do you forget people worshiping dud bombs, irritated tree people, etc?

They literally don't even mention it in the show lmao, it's just like she's there before the war and she's there after the war and nobody even thought to drop in one line to reference cryo-stasis or anything.

Sure there's plausible explanations to choose from but they intentionally make sure the explanation is there for every other character, so it sticks out for her. It's not exactly a "plot hole", just kind of an unsatisfying unresolved thread.

This and a few of the contrived coincidences (like seemingly every character sharing some connection in the pre war) are basically the only issues I had with the writing of this show. It's imperfect but it's of a higher quality than 90% of the shit out there right now.

it is shown that vault overseers communicated via text messages. lucy's littler brother pretends to be the new overseer and sneaks into vault 31. he was talking to a brain in a vat and thought it was a person. there was no voice for hank to recognize.

Good point but that still doesnt resolve my initial question; also doesnt solve why none of the other vault dwellers noticed or cared that Lucy her dad and her brother were on the uninhabitable surface for an undisclosed amount of time and being perfectly fine afterwards coming back into the vault. There should have been a couple people Hanks age that might have seen that incident and started inquiring. I mean they cant all be passive dull sheep right?

there are hints. the next overseer, Betty, is obviously lying and hiding and keeping shit from the younger people. other people from "vault 32" also seem to be lying/hiding something. Betty then seperates the only the two people aware something is going on(lucy's bro and his friend). to me, this implied that anytime anyone became trouble/asked too many questions they were then "transferred" to the other vault - and either actually transferred, or gotten rid of.

maybe lucy's mom lied when she left and said she was going to the other vault and no one noticed except hank/management. maybe after he brought her back and had to nuke shady sands they did another switch-around and split people up again. they dont give us straight up answers on purpose. they hint at all these potentialities instead to keep people curious and watching. because thats what tv shows do, bro.

love it or hate it, the concept of a mysterious box in tv/film isnt new and shouldnt be surprising/dumbfounding to you, but here we are.

The whole Moldaver character seems to be there as a set-up for Goggster's character arc more than as an important character in her own right. She's dead in the present day but the important stuff still to be shown was what role she played in the past.

We know he divorces his wife and seems likely he "defects" over to her anti-corpo faction before the bombs drop, maybe even a romance subplot, but then she probably throws him under the bus for some reason or other, and that's part of the backstory to make his present day jaded amorality more relatable or whatever.

              evidence that supports my theory

they had regular hot fusion/nuclear power. traditional nuclear power requires input energy to heat up a catalyst to start the fusion reaction where as cold fusion(as a concept that has never been achieved IRL) is a potential method of fusion that doesnt require input energy to heat up a catalyst so can be done at room temperature with zero input energy.
