It was bizarre. They wanted to make it seem like women were downtrodden but couldn't bring themselves to actually depict it: The construction workers catchall, but in a hokey almost apologetic way. The mother says women have it so hard but she comoletley dominates her husband, who is totally supportive and noncombative.
