Anyone can create kino. It has never been cheaper to do it. Your cell phone can record in 4k and microphones are dirt cheap.

The budget of Talk To Me was $4.5 million. Yeah, anyone can do it!

The cost of producing the script or novel a movie is based on is essentially zero. Just pirate the software and write on the 10 year old laptop you already have.

If the writing is good enough the market will respond. Look at the IMDb top 250 and see how many started as stories in other mediums.

i didn't really like it. what was even the moral of the movie? it's one of those movies where things just happen but it has no deeper message, not even compelling visuals, people won't be talking about this or remember it exists next year

Anon, you’re really moronic if you didn’t get the metaphor of the hand. It’s about drugs. It’s an anti-drug movie basically. Kids get together and play with the hand and film their reactions like when teens get high on psychs, but shit gets too real when the younger brother does it and it fricks him up.

The moral is that drugs are bad, especially when you have trauma or underlying mental illness. You can bring others down with you.

that doesn't address what i said. it doesn't have a moral or any meaning, unless you're saying it's something as trite as
        >don't do drugs
it follows was also about venereal diseases, but that didn't make the movie any less pointless and dumb

i think you're the moron because you don't understand what a theme is
drugs might be a fine allegory, but it is not the theme of this movie and it doesn't really have a theme, it really is just wacky stuff happens and then it ends

Loss and how it can end up devouring you. Now move the goalposts a little more again, homosexual.

Come on it has some neat visuals when it comes to the dead people and the gory moments where shocking enough.

If you want a message its pretty clearly some allegory for valuing what you have and not obsessing about the past.

        >neat visuals
That scene where they show the brother in hell or whatever, that was freaky. It was the best representation of Hell in a movie tbh

it has decent visuals, i never said it was a bad movie
but it's definitely not something i can see myself thinking back to or mentioning fondly in a few years like i do
the characters are just boring and it feels soulless like some netflix slop
but, obviously, it's much better than actual garbage like the nu hellraiser

Yeah its no VVitch but its a good example of contemporary horror, like It follows or the black phone.

I dont think anyone claims its some sort of masterpiece just that its surprisingly good given its budget and inexperienced directors.

Don't do drugs. Don't let the trauma of losing loved ones drag you down and influence you to make bad decisions.

It wasn't even good, much less great.

It's histrionic garbage that tried too hard to be intense and topical. It was clearly made by a couple of young millennial doofuses with Internet Brain.

          >that tried too hard to be intense and topical
i agree that the metaphors all fall flat on their faces but the scenes with the younger brother stuck in hell are great, they reminded me a lot of the first hellraiser kino. we need more sicko shit like that in modern horror

The scene that sticks out to me is the one towards the end when the girl in the wheelchair is about to be pushed into traffic. It was really well shot, and subtly disturbing.

Two extroverts that feed into each other's energy loops. If they both can focus on the project they can do anything of a realistic scope. Movie/comic/book/TINYbusiness

The problem is that usually one person quits because they are an enormous homosexual with no sense of follow through

Yes I have experience watching homosexuals drop off projects and I see them never try again while I keep improooooooving
