He’s the definition of handsome. Handsome doesn’t always mean extremely attractive. It’s a masculine male thing

that's why he was good at advertising he looked the part, he was charming and he had a way with words but he was an absolute shitshow underneath the persona that he put on. nobody likes dick whitman but everybody wanted to be don draper. if he looked like ginsberg he would have never gotten as far as he did.

    >>is somehow "depressed"
Depressed is a physiological state, not psychological. It's not merely a feeling that you can feel better by telling one to "just be happy bro", imagine someone in a wheelchair, you can't just tell them to "walk it off bro".

There this is entire genre of "feel sorry for this despondent privileged white male" during the 2010s for some reason. Like mad men, walter mitty, scott pilgrim, etc. It's weird and cringe.

scott pilgrim is about a total douche that manages to play a role of pathetic nice guy.

Reality is actually terrible and the smarter you are the more miserable you will be. Does not matter if your life is better than 99% of the rest of the planet, if you are smart you will still realize how bad things are for everyone and everything.

Stupid people will never get it.

        Anonymous

It really is terrible, and I'd probably come to the same conclusions even if I were rich. Think about it
        >you're born rich
        >you could have easily been born poor
        >you had no choice in this whatsoever
So, a rich person would feel guilt and a poor person would just suffer all their lives over something they didn't choose. It's pretty good.

          Anonymous

That is assuming you have the intelligence required to realize any of that. There are very stupid people who are born rich and thus manage to be happy, and there are very smart people who are born poor, who suffer more than even their fellow poorgays who are too stupid to realize how fricked they are. All in all, being stupid and moronic makes you happier, and also makes you into a piece of shit. The kindest people are the most miserable. morons will disagree and say it's the opposite though because they're stupid and don't understand how anything actually works.

You could argue someone is intelligent enough but lacks the emotional response to sympathize with others. Different beasts entirely. Wealthy tech autismos may not give a shit about the common plight, which is why all giant tech companies probably have quantum computers in their basements fighting 4D chess with one another in the shadow realm.

But I'm 110 IQ midwit who never learnt about higher things on his own until lately. Should I be depressed or just melancholic? I'm not kidding here. I read your posts and it makes sense. But I'm just step above being a dumbo. Why aren't I happy?

The concept of midwits is unironically a midwit meme. It doesn't matter whether you have an IQ of 100 or 160, if you get it, you get it, if you don't get it, you don't get it. It's also possible that your life is currently bad in a way which goes beyond the normal abstract realization that reality itself is bad. While life is full of suffering, if you aren't currently being fricked with by the people around you or you are starving of some nutrient or sick or diseased in some way then even a normally happy go lucky moron might have a lapse into seeing things clearly. The breakdown of the human body is one of the most powerful teachers, it's why on average old people are wiser than young people. It has nothing to do with old people having read more books, because most of them haven't, but actually experiencing one's own internal organs and limbs failing them in ways that they never did before, and for which there is no remedy, that is the most astonishing life lesson.
