I must confess, I was put off the original SU because of all the singing and it wasn't until I became a Tamers fan that I actually watched the show. The animation's definitely wonky in several episodes, and some of the episodes really didn't need interrupted by a musical number, but it's otherwise a genuinely good show. It's not only comfy, but there's all sorts of callbacks between episodes that make the world feel lived in.

Also fun fact about the original Narnia books: C.S Lewis was an athiest as a young man. When he became friends (possibly best buds) with Tolkien, who was VERY Catholic, he got converted to Christianity. Except, because Tolkien was so unrelentingly, obviously, possibly even a little obnoxiously CATHOLIC, Lewis got a little annoyed by it and became Protestant (albeit also keeping some Catholic practices).
Yeah, they'll always be the highlight of my day, but they've definitely helped me get through some rough patches. Sleet genuinely inspired me to start talking about liking dudes, at least anonymously online. Tamers also inspires me to be less lazy, since he works so hard to create these videos.
They're both fascinating guys, and between them basically founded the modern fantasy genre across all ages. I really like that they remained close friends despite their religious differences, which was a huge thing back then. Lewis' conversion and approach to belief is some fascinating stuff, he argues his faith from an almost scientific point of view. Highly recommend The Screwtape Letters if you're into that sort of thing.

Yeah, that's the order I read them in too. Always thought it was a bit weird in how it seemed to assume you knew about what happened in the second book. It wasn't until much later I found out that it was supposed to be a prequel. I couldn't imagine Tamers adapting The Magician's Nephew, the amount of lore in that book combined with the lore of the Tamersverse would require it to be hundreds of hours long.
As a kid I remember Magician being way too high concept and super incorporeal in subject matter for me to envision. Maybe the things I didn't understand were just callbacks to the other books and I had no way of knowing, but I struggle to see anyone adapting anything out of that book.
