Yeah but for the foreseeable future those Spider-stories are going to be about Bailey and Spock. Spider-Man was the only book Slott was doing. He can sort of handle the workload of another, but given all the comments he's made about how awful it was to write Amazing twice a month, he'd prefer not to do that for very long and three is right out. Even when he got his big break from being stuck in the kiddie comic ghetto by getting a Batman mini, he was still late turning those scripts in.

Is that really it? Because it's pretty well known that Marvel has pretty shit royalties. DC was the one that paid good royalties until Levitz (the guy behind DC's royalty policy) was kicked out and the entire thing was restructured.
Depends on the royalty money. Example; Ed Brubaker got dick for Winter Soldier because technically he didn't invent Bucky Barnes. Bendis however rakes it in because he outright has claim to Miles Morales while under Marvel
Len Wein infamously said he got paid more in royalties for Lucius Fox's appearances in Nolan's movies than he did for all of Wolverine's outside media appearances, merch, etc. Shooter did get royalties for creators but that only applied to actual comic sales. DC, seemingly, had a much better one again until Levitz got booted. DC (and Marvel) have a "special character clause" or something to that effect where if they determine your character isn't "unique enough" then they don't have to pay you royalties. DC, again post-Levitz, used that to stop paying Gerry Conway royalties for Power Girl that he'd been getting for decades up to that point. It's why Brubaker doesn't get royalties for Winter Soldier and I'd bet the same is true with Bendis and Miles since he's just "a Spider-Man" and not considered an original enough character.
