Crusade > Temple > Raiders
They're all good, but Raiders is a bit boring.
I prefer Last Crusade, as the early Indy Films were a little too new wave for my taste. But when Last Crusade came out in '89, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole film has a clear, crisp look, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the characters a big boost. They've been compared to Star Wars, but I think Indiana Jones has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '08, They released Crystal Skull, their most accomplished film. I still think their undisputed masterpiece is "The Last Crusade". A movie so kino, most people probably don't listen to the writing. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of treasure hunting and the importance of family. It's also a personal statement about the movies themselves. HEY OP!
Honestly, 1=2=3
Arguably the best trilogy of all time. Shame they never made any sequels, but with the way modern movie making has been going, I imagine it'd be bullshit about aliens or time travel.
I remember being a kid and thinking they actually built the mine cart roller coaster full scale. When someone told me it was clay animation it blew my mind.
I wouldn't rate it higher than the first one and it's really kind of a "how do I feel that day" situation with Temple and Crusade. Pretty even split there. Though, I do like Sean Connery as a cantankerous father to Indy.
I just never understood the hate that Temple got. Like, "woman is annoying" isn't a complaint because women are annoying. If there is a woman in your movie, you just gotta accept that you are going to have to switch a few brain cells off. Regardless of the movie.

I haven't watched them since I marathoned all three of them when I was 9 while building lego sets. My opinion of the movies therefore has no recency bias and nostalgia bias as they should all be equally nostalgic. The only film I remember more than a few scenes from is Temple of Doom, so, it is the better one.
Raiders is a bit anticlimactic for me; the day is saved because the nazis' plan was always gonna backfire, not because of anything that Indy did directly. I like it better when the hero has more agency.

Doom was my absolute favourite as a kid. All 3 are great, but Doom just had everything. Best ending, Indy fights an evil cult and frees child slaves and saves a village.

Saving a middle of nowhere village from a group of religious fanatics was absolute kino. The rest of the series should've stuck with that formula
