that jokey, half serious MCU type dialogue everyone hates is a direct consequence of the internet and pop culture as a whole constantly mocking characters for being edgy
writers doing their best to avoid overt angst and sadness end up making everyone a wienery show off winking at the camera making jokes and as awful as it is, its a lose lose because the alternative they have to look forward to is a million "ow! the edge! So cringe!" comments

Humans always over correct in a decade or two we'll see some sort of moronic over correction from MCU type shit

I feel like MCU quippyness was an overcorrection from the grounded, serious Nolan-style trend, which Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine 2 and others were trying to model themselves after. Guardians hitting big made it the template, but Marvel were already seen as the brighter, funnier alternative to flicks like Dark Knight Rises.

QuipCU was a direct result of Guardians making A-listers out of Literally Who characters. As far as they knew, that was what the people wanted, so they piled in on by the truckload.

Now that it's apparent that's over, you'll see a pivot. Guarantee they threw out Captain America 4 and restarted from scratch specifically to make it not a shitty comedy.

The sudden wave of support for shadow after the last sonic movie announcement made me ponder if some people should have been bullied harder

Anon, Shadow the Hedgehog IS cool. The hate for it was never anything but gaming journalists and Youtubers being biased against the Sonic franchise for not being as infantile as Mario. Embrace edge and engage with it on an intellectually honest level instead of whining that anything that's not sanitized is "cringe" or whatever zoomers call it.

Knuckles recovered his image after being played off as an absolute dumbass for years.
If he can do it, so can Shadow.

Was sonic kissing a princess cool too in your deranged mind?
In both cases They had run out of ideas and starting putting things that clashed with the themes that make sonic fun to begin with.

They are both different aspects of the same mentality. It's the "I'm not like those other girls" syndrome.
They are both moronic ways of trying to hide their insecurities in the thing they made by showing it off as special or different to the norm.

Two roads open up then. The attention prostitute schizo road in which you shill it constantly and act like a paranoid schizo when people tell you they think it's shit and make up conspiracies and shit to explain why no one cares and the based autist road in which you retreat into a shell and start getting deeper and deeper into it not caring who is watching or what they think about usually resulting in something that is either good from the sheer amount of work and polished put into it or something terrible but interesting. Sadly the former is the only one you will likely find in Cinemaphile

There are might be people that genuinely think sonic with a gun is an interesting concept but the ones making this posts are just schizos that won't accept that the broad majority rightly thinks it just dumb. The ones that are sincere are somewhere far far away making fanfics or webcomics or romhacks or sculptures out the dirt they find under they finggernails

cloud has been constantly mocked for being an emo teen with a giant sword thanks to kingdom hearts and advent children
and at least in vincents case, he isnt a cartoon character wielding a gun like its conkers bad fur day without a hint of self-awareness, he is known for using a gun and turning into pastiches of horror movie monsters

one of the biggest worries of FF7re was specifically that they would remove the goofy elements and double down on the advent children melodrama
and while there were a million complaints about the metatextual elements like the whispers and the time travel, the thing people do agree was a godsend was not just keeping the goofy elements but making them even campier and sillier than they used to be
