I've met several people now that are publicly open about their anime love and they're all total frickin weirdos and absolute freaks of nature. This shit speaks to the abject freaks of the world and in the worst most obsessive way. I've never met anyone I'd even want to spend a second around that "really loves anime".
Yeah, I remember during my early college years there's these students of animation course who'd often work with us in english class, and there's one particular student who's an absolute weeb. All the animation students loves anime, but they abhor this one weeb because he just could not shut up about anime.
I’ve watched more anime than about 99.99% of people in the United States. I’ve read more manga than 100% of people in the United States. People irl are surprised by my encyclopedic knowledge of their favorite series (and of the reasons why it’s actually shit). They never would have suspected I watched anime.
I own no anime shirts and my phone wallpaper is a picture of my dog. I don’t ever talk about anime unless the conversation drifts to a specific show or book.
I don’t understand how people make a media type into their personality. It makes no sense.
This series flopped and everyone knows this. Max 145M hours viewed and massive drop in following week, you have to be absolutely clueless to think it was hit.
Growing up in the 90s/2000s CN would do occasional special events with them and only girls cared. The movies are very slowly paced and star little girls and only 2 of them have boys as major characters or any violence so most boys didn't give a frick.
And also Dragonball Z, pokemon, Naruto, Yugioh.
There are more people who have read a chapter of my hero academia than there are who have read a chapter of Harry Potter.
>universally appealing themes of trying as hard as possible to fulfill your dreams and going on an adventure >the cast is all le wacky, but the actors are good enough to sell it >no "modern" themes, such as gay romance or troony rights - the only character who goes on muh slavery rant is the bad guy
It really was enough
And yet, there’s still no metric in which it has paid for its enormous production and marketing budgets.
They can’t afford to adapt another anime on this scale, and the other streaming companies are sensible enough not to.
Amazon being maybe the only exception.
> In the first few days of its release, One Piece has risen to become the No 1 ranked Netflix TV series in 84 different countries around the world. This surpasses a milestone set by season one of the streamer’s Addams Family adaptation Wednesday and season four of the sci-fi series Stranger Things. Both shows ranked No 1 in 83 territories over their first weekends of release.
Oh, so it was Netflix's top show -- in exactly one additional country. Glad to see the Ivory Coast has embraced Animu.
yeah but the 4kids dub meant it flopped in the states for years. It only got really big in america during the pandemic, and way more so with the netflix series. People's moms know who luffy and buggy are now
They don't adapt even half of it unless the story is extremely condensed. The amount of money they'll need for CGI in the later arcs would be too much.
Reminder: don't watch Netflixs adaptation, they're woke trash who hate fanservice and don't have the balls to sexualize female characters, theyll censor every Nami outfit, theyll censor every Robin outfit, theyll remove any and all lewd fanservice scenes, don't support woke trash or theyll keep making trash without female nudity nor female lewdness
>doesn't even say what record is being broken
"highest viewed first ten minutes of an anime adaptation that has a two-word title and features a straw hat, released in the fall on netflix" must have been pushing it just a bit too far for casual readers of.. whatever shitrag this headline is from
man, weird how the most successful Netflix show ever that broke record after record, was promptly knocked off the leader boards by a stand up special and now it only gets 1 thread every other day. Almost like all the buzz was bought and paid for.
It don't matter though. No reason to even waste time hating it. The original series exists and can you can watch it right now. No need to wait 3 years and hope Netflix doesn't screw up Alabasta. You can just watch/read Alabasta right now. It's 30 seconds away and will be universally better than the Netflix version
>enjoy series >there's more episodes? >somehow this is a bad thing
Media isn't a race, and there's no completion trophy for finishing a TV show. Plenty of people watched One Piece through Alabasta, had a great time, then bailed at Sky Island. Hell, I know a dude that started at Wano in the 900's. No one said that to enjoy a show you need to watch every single second of every single episode.
Regardless, the pacing of Alabasta in the anime is totally fine and doesn't need to be streamlined. It's still 2 chapters an episode, so runs at a solid pace.

was it a work?
>anime going mainstream
It already was mainstream for years. Go to any college campus now and you'll find tons of people with some kind of anime sticker, merch, or wallpaper on their person or laptop/phone
boy luffy is insanely cute shota hot
I prefer Koby.
gay
low t
i think biologically coby might be high t

I'd honestly impact "their" non-binary pussy. If you know what I mean.
That's a woman.

she girl tho
Cute Coby
homosexual
I'd suck a fart outta his ass

Anime has been mainstream for a long time. Just like video games.
and quality dropped for that reason
Imagine they shitcans the last season of Stranger Things for this show
Fricking nice.

Who still watches netflix
I do. Live-action One Piece and Heartstopper are kino. I also loved live-action Death Note and Cowboy Bebop. Netflix had lots of original kino.
This series flopped and everyone knows this. Max 145M hours viewed and massive drop in following week, you have to be absolutely clueless to think it was hit.
lol Your blatant lies will not work. I suggest you be more subtle and creative in your lies.
Where is the Brazilian spammer monkey with his stupid images?
>anime going mainstream
That happened with ghibli decades ago, moron.
Only women like or care about Ghibli that much.
My mom likes Ghibli's movies, so it could be true.
Growing up in the 90s/2000s CN would do occasional special events with them and only girls cared. The movies are very slowly paced and star little girls and only 2 of them have boys as major characters or any violence so most boys didn't give a frick.

Sorry, I forgot to sage when i made this post. I know it’s a Netflix shill thread orchestrated by trannies.
they sold totoro plushies at hot topic but thats as mainstream as it got
I've seen multiple clips of this and it still looks like cheap cosplay trash. I don't understand the praise.
you can see an effort from the actors, that's it, that's all
it's too campy for white people
asians like it
>universally appealing themes of trying as hard as possible to fulfill your dreams and going on an adventure

Bullshit, there was male nudity yet no female nudity, it's woke trash
And yet, there’s still no metric in which it has paid for its enormous production and marketing budgets.

Bulshit anime dialog without the charming animation.
What record did it break?

so it still broke the record? shut the frick up lmao
> S-shut up! T-that one additional c-country m-matters!
What's really sad is no one doubts your absolute sincerity.
Note: More Viewers > More Countries
One Piece already was one of the most popular works of fiction ever
yeah but the 4kids dub meant it flopped in the states for years. It only got really big in america during the pandemic, and way more so with the netflix series. People's moms know who luffy and buggy are now
USA is just one country
yeah but its kind of a big one. Plus I dont think it was huge in many other english speaking countries like canada or the UK either before this
>Sell Netflix in the Philippines for 1 dollar
>10 trillion jungle monkeys tune in
>Lazy hedge funds just assume this is value for money
Checks out
why? that shit looks incredibly cheap..
Welcome to capitalism homosexual
Fishman Island worst arc by the way

Once again American netflix does it better than the japs.
It has been only a month and it's already out of top 10. This is just pathetic
