You do realize that the big bang theory doesn't actually posit how the universe began right? Its just the earliest event in the universe that we are able to detect. There are theories about what all the matter in the universe was doing before the big bang, but that stuff is basically just conjecture. It seems like religious and a lot of non religious people mistake the big bang theory for explaining the genesis of the universe.

Not what I'm claiming. We don't know if the universe always existed. Its possible it always existed, its also possible it started existing moments before the big bang, but its not really possible to know. But if I did say it has always existed, I imagine you'd have some sort of problem with that concept and so I'd ask you to simply take what ever logic you have in your head for how god has always existed and just apply it to a physical universe.

I don't get this desire for progress that comes from most atheists. Most atheists are multiculturalists and multiculturalism involves importing the lowest IQ populations into your society and prioritizing their interests. Some of these immigrants were literally still practicing cannibalism before they moved into first world countries. What could be more catastrophic to the continued cultural, technological and philosophical advancement of a civilization than that? It's deliberately anti-progressive, it's barbarism

    >Malick is "Christian"
    >puts shit like this in his film
I understand it's an adult trying to explain an extremely complicated and abstract concept like God to a child, but I have found children much like it and prefer to be treated like rational beings well before you think they are ready for it. I explained to my niece (who is 6 years old) that God is not in the clouds but literally everywhere around us, at all times, that we are, for all intents and purposes, "inside" of God. That God 'is' creation, and she had no problems understanding my meaning and the implications that has for us humans.

As an aside, Malick is obviously a talented filmmaker, and he has some good story idea's, but he is not a good writer. It's similar to Paul Thomas Anderson. Their ego's prohibit them from giving the screenplay to someone else, even if they would work closely with them. Same with Eggers, who thinks he is a much better writer than he is. Honestly that's one of the saddest things to see, a talented filmmaker not realizing their potential because they refuse to pass off the screenplay to someone else, especially since most screenplays change all the time up until the moment of shooting. I performed at an equity theater with an actor who was the hairdresser in Birdman (the guy who put Riggans wig on and said 'you're amazing!', lol), and he said Iñárritu, Bo, Giacobone, and Dinelaris were constantly changing the script on set, shooting a scene, then re-shooting with slight additions and alterations to the script each time. He said it was an extremely creative set to be on. I imagine that is really the most organic way to work on a film anyway: The screenplay is a 'home base' of sorts but can easily be changed if you find a better moment.

Giving the screenplay to someone else would also allow the director to work more closely on the actual aspects of directing. It's really surprising these people can't let go of their ego's for the betterment of their art.

Isn't he protestant? He obviously hasn't had kids because if he did, he would know that isn't something you tell kids. You tell them God is the master and ruler of the universe and loves us more than anything in it, so we obey Him and love Him in return, since all Good comes from Him exclusively. This is also something a 50's housewife would have told their kids. So it's still bad writing. Malick is great with visuals, 2nd to none in that regard, but he is horid when it comes to crafting characters and directing/portraying them in believable ways.

I am excited for his next movie, only because I want to see what his understanding of Christian theology really is.

That scene is ok in a vacuum. But the way the movie shows certain other moments in the movie including Jessica Chastain's character floating about, dinosaurs and (admittedly gorgeous) montages of outer space while Lacrimosa plays on the background makes me think Terrence just wants to show simple & straightforward interpretations in a beautiful manner.
It's like painting something bland in a masterful way. Why not make it more interesting?

Do anons itt not understand what evolution is? All evolution is, is a theory about changes, not a fact about 'improvements', improvements which, by the way, are highly arbitrary and based on what certain humans, in their opinion, find unique or interesting. The rule in evolution is actually DE-evolution, it is creatures losing features. 9 times out of 10, evolutino has proven that creatures, like say, a mammal, that once had wings came to lose them, by small variations operating on it in an environment. But those who use evolution to justify their atheistic model ignore the 9 out of 10, take the one except where a creature maybe came to grow a bit bigger, or gain a dorsal fin, and claim this is the rule.

And this is to speak nothing of the fact that evolution cannot prove we came from monkey's or apes. That is insane, and no possible proof exists for that suposition. It's really a sad state of affairs when one of the more interesting sciences has been corrupted by atheists.

Imagine going trough life and believing there is Logos behind the universe, no moral law and everything is just random and pointless. You need to be stupid enough ignore / misinterpret the entirety of recorded human civilization. Not to mention it would be an utterly miserable existence

      >he hasn't studied the eccumenical councils
If you don't want to be Christian, that's fine, but at least study what our doctrines of Christ's nature actually are, because what you have just described is not that.

Why should I bother to study something I don't like when I can just make up a strawman I can easily topple?

        No. I don't think I will

What I'm saying is, that your strawman regarding Christ now, was a strawman regard Christ then. So, Holy men go together to define their doctrines exactly, using the Gospel, Epistle's, and Holy Tradition. You may think you are creating a clever criticism of Christianity and Christs nature, but you are 1,700 years late.

Again, you don't have to be Christian (though I highly encourage you to be one). But you should at least understand what Christian theology is, before you decide to believe in it or not. That would be like refusing to believe in the concept of mathematics, before anyone showed you arithmetic or multiplication.

The real God is based, with an interesting lore and an almost otherworldly being. The American Film & Television God that Hollywood talks about, usually for Christians, is cringe. He's unironically a big white bearded man that lives in the clouds and directly intervenes in your puny boring mortal life whenever you ask him to like he's your slave. Yawn. The real God doesn't care if you die, but he cares how you die. You're a mortal, you are going to suffer, but you don't need to anguish in your suffering. He lives outside of time and space, and his motivations are unknowable to us. He doesn't exist, but He also does exist. He is everything and He is nothing. When you die, you'll sit in the Earth as a rotten corpse, then a decaying skeleton, and finally a collection of dust, all for 7.5 billion years until the Sun eventually engulfs the Earth and totally destroys the planet, at which time you'll float through the galaxy as star dust for a quadrillion more years, and more, until the very fabric of our Universe collapses and you awaken in another realm, but it will all be as if you just fell asleep and woke up.

Churches everywhere, theologians dedicated to studying God, makes Him not an alien to us. We can conceive of Him somewhat, even if we'll never truly understand Him.

God is not of this world, he created this world. He is, by definition, otherworldly.

Perhaps, but if we are of God, then He isn't totally otherworldy. There's a connection between us, and He made us in His image, after all. Unless you're a Deist and believe God just sort of sneezed us out on accident and turned His gaze from us entirely.

in some ways yes but were apparently made in his image and he already put effort in the try to connect with us

I think you're confusing "otherworldly" with "incomprehensible." Something from another world is otherworldly even if you fully understand everything about it.

The tree of life is not great cause the "nature vs grace" theme is too explicit

The same theme is in all other malick kinos, but it's more subtle and beautiful.

A*heists are the most cringe people on the planet. Nobody likes them, they can't help but bring their "beliefs" or lack of into every single subject. Religious people mostly don't want to talk or interact with these people.
