        to boomers/gen x and the generations before them, yes it was considered funny. its just kind of cringey and awkward now. i'm 31 and the only instance i can think of where it made me laugh was jim carrey on in living color.

      Both movies are surprisingly welcomed by the trans community. I suppose Doubtfire showcases the "hardship" of being a trans woman even if it mostly jokes about it and has nothing to do with gender.
      Some Like It Hot is another i'm surprised hasn't been "cancelled" since it's about a man gaslighting a woman into loving him by pretending to be both her woman best friend and a fake rich man. But again thw movie ends with the message that even a man dressed as a woman can find someone who loves them as they are.

      These were considered funny in a time when men dressing as women was a joke on its face, they weren't demanding to be taken seriously and governments weren't backing them up to normalize it.
