Can only speak for myself but that's the appeal for me. I found the pilot to be a mixed bag overall (a concerning number of the jokes fell flat imo), but the premise strikes a definite chord with me personally. From what I gather I seem to have grown up around the same time and in a similar environment to Goose, so go figure.
Yeah, it's unfortunate how many of the jokes are eye-rolly, but there are a few that are genuinely funny, like the Moon

Checking out her catalogue after having this as my point of entry, I definitely agree. Little Runmo was great and constantly subverted expectations in amusing ways, just mostly through choreography. Some other stuff like Ghost of the Year and Darly Boxman has dialogue but it's mostly a vehicle for general momentum rather than wordplay, and most of the dialogue is written to be spoken by some sort of weird vaguely-but-not-quite human thing. I haven't seen her whole portfolio but it seems like TADC is her first foray into writing dialogue for ostensibly human characters, so outside of Caine it seems like this is probably fairly new ground.

Gooseworx seems like they'd be better as an ideas-person, who gets the point of a scene, interaction or joke across and lets other writers handle the specifics, while still interjecting some specific wording or beats that are necessary. I don't know if she can compartmentalize her creative process enough to do that but it seems like the ideal scenario.
It's not like the writing in the pilot was bad, either. It had genuinely funny moments and the characterization was consistent and expressive. It was just a little over-expositiony (maybe an unavoidable issue for a pilot) and the joke delivery could feel overdone.

Agreed. My problem wasn't even really with the jokes themselves for the most part, just the phrasing being kind of awkward sometimes. Even just an editor let alone writers would probably go a considerable ways.
Liam Vickers is the sole writer for Murder Drones (Glitch's other show with an outside showrunner) and Goose has apparently already written the scripts for the rest of the show.
Writing outlines doesn't necessarily mean writing dialogue and interactions. Liam probably had the general idea of what he wanted MD to be going into it, but tonally the first handful of episodes are frickin' all over the place and that shows if he wasn't getting help directly after the pilot. I think that's a pretty common complaint about the show. I would hope everyone learned from the lessons and got better.
I don't know if Glitch is any different, but it's a common practice in the TV industry to have the creator write the pilot exclusively and then hire more people to write succeeding episodes.
I disagree, the dialogue and jokes are straight up better than the average tv animation, there is no way you think Owl House, Steven Universe, Big City Greens Craig of the Creek or Kiff had funnier jokes or more memorable quotes
Just from the pilot I can already point out several jokes most people loved, XDDCC, Kinger being scared by Gangle, Kinger failing to save Zooble, Caine being mad at Bubble. Can you even name 3 Big City Greens or Kiff jokes as good as any of those?
I didn't compare it to TV animation, because I don't normally watch TV animation. I'd say the humor and writing was about on par with a good episode of Steven Universe though.

This seems weird to me. I never expected the show to have a focus on romance. But when it's an exploration of characters trapped in an existential horror situation, you'd think romance would come up, either as something they do to comfort each other, or something that makes the situation worse like Kinger losing Queenie. Does Goose just not like stories involving romance?
I don't know, if I were in a situation where I'm stuck in a world with only 5 or so other people, I would do whatever I could not to catch any feelings because if something went wrong, it would make the rest of my life a living hell being unable to escape them. Like being stuck with the same coworkers every day. I would never dream of dating a coworker.

A lot of people make a lot of mistakes in general, but it's a pretty normal rule passed around that you don't date people you work with.
I'm not saying you should, I'm saying it's realistic that people would, and generally realistic that they might not make completely rational choices where romance is involved
It seems fairly clear she doesn't want the show to get bogged down in shipping wars and that it's supposed to be a dark comedy, not some serious interpretation of what would happen to people in isolation. Romance isn't something that fits into the tone of the show in her mind and that's fine? You don't gotta' have romance in everything, especially a limited series.
She's implied it's meant to be a character exploration, not just a comedy, and my point is that it's odd to completely exclude romance from that. Also, not wanting the fandom to do something (shipping wars) is a moronic reason for any artistic choice.
She stated that she wouldn't step on any shipping stuff, but that's not the same as fueling any one particular ship. And not everyone is defined by romance, especially when thrown into an otherwise otherworldly place. There's the possibility of Kinger//Queenie maybe touching on the concept, but otherwise it seems fine to have all the distinct personalities bounce off of each other in different combos plus jokes and the slight tinge of mystery to be more than enough to fill 8 episodes. Again, Goose is pretty adamant about this only being 8 episodes, so it's not like there needs to be groundwork for a potential second season or whatever where the characters have to do more, such as potentially leaning into romance.

It's become an industry standard to just run longer episodes and less of them. I couldn't tell you why, but it's not some new thing. Hell, the BBC has almost always only commissioned things in blocks of 6 episodes. I'm sure there's some kind of numbers thing behind it, not necessarily just a personal touch.
Yeah, I'm used to miniseries having 10ish episodes like Band of Brothers and American Horror Story. Seems like that number strikes the perfect balance between feeling rushed and overstaying its welcome. I suppose if Goose makes the finale an hour length, that would almost make up for the constricted episode count

I've seen people that just have a hatred for generic romance in stories because it usually takes away from the core idea of a story while also never being given enough time to be fully realized. It's less of a problem in TV shows since the larger episode count means that more attention can be given to it, but ADC also only has eight episodes, so it's roughly as long as a movie anyway. (A long movie, of course.)
Goose might be in that headspace.
