In the first episode Jax seemed more lax, whereas here he's straight-up violent and bloody-thirsty.
Well for his perspective he's probably just wanting to let loose instead of playing "inside the rules" since there aren't any consequences. Compared to the others, he is a lot more in control of his interactions with the world with pulling weapons out of nowhere, ignoring gravity, and inexplicably stealing keys. So maybe he is trying to embrace the absurd since there's no way out and the others just feel like party poopers for him.

Because Caine wouldn't be able to differentiate between NPCs and PCs. The only thing he can't control are minds and presumably existence, but he can do all sorts of other things to PCs. Imagine what he'd try if he thinks he's dealing with an NPC that isn't responding to the usual console command stuff.
Though I admit this part took me out of the episode since it was a straightforward edgy gut-punch... until the funeral brought me immediately back in. Not a great standalone episode but it did a lot to flesh out the cast, with the funeral really humanizing them. Hopefully things get more eventful in the next one.

I liked the funeral service. It really shows how you can say a lot with no dialogue
It stands out. It accomplished a lot in only a minute: it showed that the supporting cast still have very human needs outside of their personality extremes (except Jax, who is a confirmed c**t), including that they all still care about each other despite their personality issues. The hand-grabbing part was a bit on the nose and the visual metaphor probably wasn't necessary given that you could tell that was what Pomni was thinking just by looking at her reaction to the funeral, but eh.
It's fine since it reincorporates an earlier scene. Yes, it would work without it, but having it start and end the same way in a bookending manner feels right.

The funeral part saved this episode for me. The episode itself was fine overall, but I wasn’t really super into most of it for some reason until the funeral.
I think it’s because the funeral scene contains a lot of what I liked about the pilot, which is the characters acting human in an artificial world. It was easy to forget that when a lot of this episode was wacky cartoon shenanigans.
I feel the same way. I liked the funeral because it reminded us these silly characters are still human, and they're not really here by choice. So they still have to do things that humans would do, so they don't forget themselves, and still have emotions and be grounded in reality.
The episode's overall thoughts for me depended on it hitting the ending right, and I'd say the funeral did a good job of that.

I think it was a big improvement over the pilot, the jokes were more funny (pizza tower taunt, arms gag, etc.) and having a less-freaked-out Pomni is nice. The major problem I had with it is that sometimes the scene would just cut or move too fast for you to actually take it in like when Kinger put the bucket on Ragatha's head, it happens so fast if you aren't already looking at her head you may not even see what actually happens. also i wish gangle would tie me up with her ribbons and use me like a meat endoskeleton

alright I'm gonna wall of text my thoughts here. at the start of the episode is pomni fearing 'death' BUT on top of that, she has a fear (or belief) that everyone else is being fake and treating her as disposable/not worth caring about. this is a projection. she thinks the circus is 'fake' and not worth caring about. she's terrified of being treated as not real.
these theme is carried through the rest of the episode with her pouty b***hing. she doesn't see any value in doing 'fake' stuff with 'fake' people, and even treats the people who are 'real' like they're not worth caring about because it's all just a big hallucination or whatever. eventually she gets thrown under the map and she starts to care about the mental well being of an NPC, who by definition isn't real. she sees value in that relationship despite it's transparent fakeness (literally taking place in a video game asset room full of fake models)
the NPC dying followed immediately by kaufmo's funeral is an intentionally set up as a parallel. kaufmo didn't even exist to pomni, they never met. NONE OF US know who kaufmo was, he didn't even exist on the show! But the final message isn't about what is and isn't real or fake. We didn't see kaufmo but we could see the relationships because the relationships are real even if the context around them isn't. jax is deliberately shown in opposition to this- he views (or acts like he does) everything as fake and nothing has value to him beyond what it can do to keep him amused.
anyway the death of the NPC is necessary to have the kaufmo funeral make sense. the show is saying 'you can care for things that aren't real and that's a healthy and not childish thing to do and good for your mental health'. Jax is a manchild and shown as suffering for it. Pomni and the gang are sad (because attachment will, by definition, cause you pain when you lose it) but are ultimately better off. Jax gets a couple fleeting moments of joy but is ultimately the loser.
i like that pomni is now having an actual character, one of my main gripes with the pilot is that she was being treated as the "Audience Surrogate", someone for everyone else in the cast to spout exposition to the audience can understand

but also I think his character is intentionally not participating in the violence. he likes it when other people/things cause the violence and hurt people (kaufmo in the first episode and the fudge in the second), and he actively likes putting people in harms way (throwing pomni and pushing gangle around), but he has PLENTY of time to do things himself but chose not to. He ordered gangle to ram the truck (he could have done it himself), he had the gun but didn't fire it (despite having ample opportunity), even kinger was causing more harm than him by accident.
so I think jax is actually a coward despite all his bluster. he wants to see and cause suffering but doesn't want to do it himself.

probably not this long. They need to finish Murder Drones's finale but that was supposed to come out in April (and ended up being delayed) so it's probably relatively close to being finished. And Murder Drones episodes were pumped out every 2-3 months when that was all they were working on

After Murder Drones Episode 8 releases, likely every 2 months or so. Prior to working on TADC episodes, Glitch would release an episode of Murder Drones around every 2 months, but Ep 7 and 8 of MD are bigger and more demanding than usual + TADC episodes are being produced at the same time, so the pipeline for both shows is extended.
Once the Murder Drones season / series finale is done, TADC will be freed up. And TADC seems like it's a little bit simpler to make than Murder Drones, so an episode every 2 months or less is likely.
The current idea is that Episode 8 of MD will probably arrive sometime in the summer.

if they don't chicken out on going really dark with the story, it could be a really unique take on getting isekaid into a world where you lose your identity and essentially become a toy controlled by someone, ie for tadc caine, in terms of mind breaking, alienation, loss of self, escapism, etc..., like it would be interesting if we were to meet a character that actually enjoys to be trapped there, and never tried to leave

I agree honestly. I think they could have shortened the first half of the episode a lot and lost nothing. Waiting 20+ minutes to drop the "bomb" that the croc dies didn't really hit hard when it was obvious from the start. I actually watched this in one sitting, whereas watching the pilot took me a solid hour because I had to pause every few minutes and walk around because I thought the dialogue and humor were too cringy.
After watching the pilot I felt the show had potential and had an intriguing premise but I didn't really like it, after watching episode 2 I can say with confidence that I actually do like this show and look forward to it.

It could be neat having a AI deal with actual human beans and vice-versa, but the problem would be that the main cast is already frick huge and the series is still having difficulties in juggling them all effectively

I'd still think this episode wasn't as good as the first because they spent too long on candyland (a place not even the characters seemed to care about) and then they really dragged the whole existential crisis thing on with the croc only to delete him in the same episode. I understand that was kind of the point but there's no reason that couldn't have been done with less time. I guess I'm just more sensitive to wasted time considering we have to wait months in between episodes so any wasted time feels unnecessary. I think this show is at its best when exploring the secrets of the computer world they're in or when showcasing the psychological effects of the situation pomni's in. Anything other than those things kind of falls flat for me but I do realize we need some comic relief and other stuff in between. I just don't see why it has to take up more time than the interesting stuff.

I rushed home to try and get to the thread while i watched but Cinemaphile was down for me. It was much better than episode 1, I'm glad with Jax becoming a fan favorite they're still making him an butthole and basically an antagonist in each episode.
It's really funny how many shipping wars there were and Pomni didn't even start to actually consider anyone a friend until the end of this episode. So glad Gooseworx is sticking to her initial ideas for the series and isn't changing anything due to the hype around it.

Feels like ep 2 suffered from its massive popularity. Something feels kinda off at some points of the episode, that doesn't have the same vibe as episode 1.
It feels too tedious amd as of too many cooks ruined the soup or something.
I take it that they wanted to go all-out on the first episode to sell the concept. They can't just go hard in on the darker elements all the time, which unfortunately means this episode might have been seen as a necessary bump to set up some precedent of normalcy.

Considering how her body reacted to Kaufmo trampling her, I thought the program didn't normally track or render damage to players. I'm morbidly intrigued to see I was wrong
My guess is that this is "normal" damage, something allowed within the limits of the simulation. It seems to surprise and perhaps discomfort her, but she's reacting as if she's in serious pain either and the hole is gone later.
The glitch damage caused by Kaufmo is clearly something which if anything gets worse over time and she explicitly says is excruciatingly painful, and only Caine can repair it possibly by reverting her body to a state prior to the damage (?)
There's probably some upper limit imposed by the rules of the simulation on how uncomfortable anything can be. Since abstractions can break the rules and structure of the simulation, that feedback protection doesn't work and the user is "feeling" whatever having your limbs grotesquely twist and change shape and partially vanish feels like.
I can't remember if it was on Tumblr or via livestream, but Goose did confirm everyone can feel pain as normal. They just don't die.

Fine episode but again, Existential Dread does not a good show make. I only laughed a couple of times... Well, smirked. First was Pomni being stretched and King throwing the floating device on her and the knives bit. Also the 'they know what they're doing' scene with the spikes appearing under Pomni with her back to the camera. Oh and the 'submissive and agreeable' one.
