Maybe it's just me but I find the show mediocre. Interesting premise, characters and art direction but it isn't enough to save the boring writing.
If anything, it's the score that really sells the show and its emotional parts. The OST is top-tier, that entire music segment while Pomni and Gummigoo were launching themselves out of the test room was fantastic; really sold the scene.
The juxatposition in Pomni's attitude between Ragatha and Gummigoo is obviously intentional. She was probably a loser IRL with no real sense of purpose or self-importance going for her to begin with, hence her ability to empathize with the croc, yet disregard Ragatha's kindness as childish coddling (which it kind of is.)

Eh, she handles some of the psychological horror aspects quite well (the entire scene with Gummigoo discovering the test room, and Pomni escaping to the void in the first episode was quite good,) it's the situational/scenario writing & dialogue that she's bad at. All of the scenes involving the characters interacting/LARPING in these alternate NPC-based quests are just bland or outright bad.

This one isn't really accurate, it's not really a glitch and more like an outside entity manifesting through the AI host. You could argue that the corruption of the drone host's AI due to the Solver's influence is "glitching" but the Solver itself is not a glitch. It's a malevolent eldritch void-borne entity that manifests in the AI of drones that meet very specific criteria regarding the state of their AI cores which it enters in through (as well as black holes / the Singularity)
Actually, the way how the "almost god-like all-powerful entities" of Amazing Digital Circus and Murder Drones are pretty much opposites it pretty interesting.
Caine is almost completely unaware, he is confined to the gameworld of the Digital Circus and his purpose is to keep the game going. He doesn't even know how his actions inflict suffering because he just doesn't understand.
The Absolute Solver on the other hand, is completely aware. It's an entity in the outside of the MD universe entering in, and it treats everything as a game out of playful sadism and actively enjoys inflicting torment as it goes about consuming the universe. It plays with its hosts like they are toys and goofs around because it can.
Caine's goofyness is born from ignorance and misunderstanding, the Solver's goofyness is born from evil and maliciousness. Caine wants to maintain the Circus, the Solver wants to consume all of existance and bring about the "Exponential End". Just an interesting thought.

It also explains why the number of deeply personal relationships people can have at the same time is not infinite, dunbar's number and all that.

rewatched it again and there was a lot of little stuff I missed that stood out to me
at the very end pomni's doing her nightmare vision thing and she gets grabbed by the cast (minus jax) while falling in the hole, but then there's like a few frames where her fingers tighten and she grabs back. it's a cool visual thing showing that the cast was reaching out to save her, but she had to want to be saved and hold them back for it to really click.

Seeing this image makes me wish we could see more of the Digital Circus from an outsider's perspective compared to the one the characters inside the game see. For a series that draws heavy inspiration from 90's edutainment games and CG, I'm surprised there isn't more fanart for TADC in that style although that might be because Glitch themselves have already made a few images like that.

Maybe it's just me but I find the show mediocre. Interesting premise, characters and art direction but it isn't enough to save the boring writing.
If anything, it's the score that really sells the show and its emotional parts. The OST is top-tier, that entire music segment while Pomni and Gummigoo were launching themselves out of the test room was fantastic; really sold the scene.
The juxatposition in Pomni's attitude between Ragatha and Gummigoo is obviously intentional. She was probably a loser IRL with no real sense of purpose or self-importance going for her to begin with, hence her ability to empathize with the croc, yet disregard Ragatha's kindness as childish coddling (which it kind of is.)

Eh, she handles some of the psychological horror aspects quite well (the entire scene with Gummigoo discovering the test room, and Pomni escaping to the void in the first episode was quite good,) it's the situational/scenario writing & dialogue that she's bad at. All of the scenes involving the characters interacting/LARPING in these alternate NPC-based quests are just bland or outright bad.
She's a fricking c**t. Full stop. I feel so fricking bad for Ragatha, she doesn't really have anyone nice and sweet like herself to find comfort in. Even the people who are hurting the most not only don't want her but are fricking buttholes about it.

This one isn't really accurate, it's not really a glitch and more like an outside entity manifesting through the AI host. You could argue that the corruption of the drone host's AI due to the Solver's influence is "glitching" but the Solver itself is not a glitch. It's a malevolent eldritch void-borne entity that manifests in the AI of drones that meet very specific criteria regarding the state of their AI cores which it enters in through (as well as black holes / the Singularity)
Actually, the way how the "almost god-like all-powerful entities" of Amazing Digital Circus and Murder Drones are pretty much opposites it pretty interesting.
Caine is almost completely unaware, he is confined to the gameworld of the Digital Circus and his purpose is to keep the game going. He doesn't even know how his actions inflict suffering because he just doesn't understand.
The Absolute Solver on the other hand, is completely aware. It's an entity in the outside of the MD universe entering in, and it treats everything as a game out of playful sadism and actively enjoys inflicting torment as it goes about consuming the universe. It plays with its hosts like they are toys and goofs around because it can.
Caine's goofyness is born from ignorance and misunderstanding, the Solver's goofyness is born from evil and maliciousness. Caine wants to maintain the Circus, the Solver wants to consume all of existance and bring about the "Exponential End". Just an interesting thought.

It also explains why the number of deeply personal relationships people can have at the same time is not infinite, dunbar's number and all that.

at the very end pomni's doing her nightmare vision thing and she gets grabbed by the cast (minus jax) while falling in the hole, but then there's like a few frames where her fingers tighten and she grabs back. it's a cool visual thing showing that the cast was reaching out to save her, but she had to want to be saved and hold them back for it to really click.

Murder Drones has a bigger setting and more shit going on in terms of the wider world of the show and the underlying mysteries throughout the series, but saying Digital Circus has "nothing deeper" isn't really accurate
the existentialism and existential dread is a big part of TADC, there's also the overall question of the circus and whether they can escape. it's a smaller scale sort of show, and more casual I guess is how I'd put it

This series is going to be an emotional rollercoaster my heart's not ready for and I'm looking forward to more.
Seeing this image makes me wish we could see more of the Digital Circus from an outsider's perspective compared to the one the characters inside the game see. For a series that draws heavy inspiration from 90's edutainment games and CG, I'm surprised there isn't more fanart for TADC in that style although that might be because Glitch themselves have already made a few images like that.
I found him to be a lot more amusing in this episode compared to the last one. His disdain for the world he's in when he isn't messing with it is surprisingly amusing.
