Pomni remembers putting on the headset mainly and Caine dosen't mention any other form of memory loss. She's most likely only been trapped for around an hour by the end of the episode and has been freaking out the whole time. I imagine once she calms down she'll start to wonder about anyone that might be worried about her. Besides even if the circus does censor any personal memories the characters still remember being human and would naturally worry about having family and freinds regardless.

My personal theory is that the circus, at least originally, wasn't a prison but a legitimate attempt at some kind of interactive show. My guess is that the name censor is too keep actor's from actually giving away their true identities on air while keeping them "in character". Since I don't think it was intended to be a permanent arrangement censoring any family or friend related memories seems like overkill.

I actually agree. Pomni wasn't even mystified for a moment by being in a literal virtual reality. She seemed way too scared waaay too fast for something that 99% of the terror is existential.
She spends the pilot clinging to the idea that it's all just a dream she needs to wake herself up from, and only at the end does the reality of her situation sink in.

I could actually see this happening in the show. Maybe not with yandere intentions, but still happening. A character passes out or goes offline or whatever and Gangle pulls a Weekend At Bernies with them to keep Caine from finding out. Everyone sees through her plan anyway.
Caine to me feels less like AM from IHNMAIMS and more like any of the teachers from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.

I think he's talking about the tv show version of DHMIS which has a lot more variety on how they act. Some are still malicious but most this time around are moreso just doing their jobs poorly and a couple are actually pretty decent people.

Yes and even that aside, the show is not good. The "jokes" are not funny, they just wrote discord redditors being querky in chat and called it a writing. They claim that the series is a horror comedy or dark humor or whatever but there's nothing dark or horrific about anything at all.
They tried to emulate Gregory horror show to a point they literally copied the premise but the world is set in a circus instead of a haunted hotel, but somehow they managed to make it 10000x times more tame, despite gregory horror show already being a kids show that aired on TV.
This has literally nothing in common with Gregory Horror Show beyond the basic concept of being trapped somewhere you fricking moron. I guess Gregory Horror Show and this are both ripoffs of Hotel California.
If I may levy two criticisms:

You make a good point actually. Considering how dangerous that first reveal made things out to seem I was kind of surprised by how mostly well meaning and decent to everyone Caine was. He's wacky, but he's keeping an eye out for everyone and was decently reasonable for a partially mad near all powerful loon.

Probably haven't seen how far he can go. The pilot was basically just a tutorial for him after all and the scrawling of him seemed pretty intimidating.

That's possible, but he seemed genuinely concerned that his Gloink adventure ended up causing damage and going as haywire as it did. He didn't seem to mind Zooblew was screwing off to her room when he announced the adventure but he could have expected them to eventually drag her back into it.
I think there's a good chance that's true, but it would have been a better character moment for him to more directly confirm that imho

I kind of like the idea of him being well meaning but incompetent in understanding what humans actually want. Thinking that something like a fake exit would actually bring them some peace, instead of it being a cruel false hope.
Like Hell is in the simple fact that they're trapped there, rather than them needing to deal with an unstoppable malevolent force.

That's actually pretty cool if that's how he works. He keeps trying to make things "entertaining" for the cast by trying to make a literal digital circus, but since he's incapable of understanding humans he keeps making things that are just further torment and suffering. It would even explain the knife throwing thing; after all that's what happens in a circus, so why shouldn't a DIGITAL circus do that too!
calling it now, the big plot twist is going to be that they arent actually the people who they think they are, but merely the copies of the people who put on the headsets, so theres no way out since they are 100% digital creatues

Yep, this is definitely the case. It's a situation like SOMA where it's a bunch of brain scans who still think they are real people. The Digital Circus is a simulation game where you can scan yourself in and watch yourself get up to silly antics like The Sims, but it's an inescapable nightmare for the scans inside. Caine isn't actually a bad guy, he just literally can't do anything to help them even if he wanted to. He isn't lying to keep them trapped, this is just what the world is to him because he's a computer program in the computer with no perception of what the outside even is.
I think based off the decay of the outside and backgrounds in the "real world". My theory is all of humanity is either dead or dying so people put on the headset to escape or cope and Caine takes them inside to save them. Basically their isn't a outside for them or anything for them to cling too.

The fact that the computer and headset and such look extremely degraded does kind of make me think it's post-apocalyptic in some sense. I'd be curious to see if something like that (people putting on the headset to "preserve themselves") is actually what's going on, but from Pomni's reaction I don't think that's the case because while she doesn't have much in the way of memory, it's sort of clear that she wasn't expecting to not be able to get out. Could be a quirk of the system though.
I think in an apocalyptic scenario, it's more likely that they are digital backups made long before the world ended. Caine could be still be trying to preserve them though, despite the initial teaser making it seem otherwise, Caine doesn't really seem to be evil or even particularly malicious. Naive and ignorant at worst. None of the circus members seem particularly afraid of him, and he has mostly been relatively friendly and even helpful, and he seems to only really hide the existence of stuff like the "exit" for the safety of the group more than because he is willfully keeping them there. This could change, but I don't think he's an outright villain an
I see it as a mix of it, like he sucks out their soul/consciousness. She doesn't remember key stuff she just knows she put on the headset. Could be a mix of her finding the device and putting it on for shits in giggles and then getting sucked in the world

i saw a theory on youtube that the digital circus is pretty much a beta program and that the ones in it are people who willingly gave their brainscans, but due to legal reasons the characters couldnt be 1:1, so they forget everything personal while keeping the rough personality of the individual

It's arguable if this is even the case. Jax and the others seem to imply that the adventures are optional and they mostly go on them because it's something to do and they get rewarded. Caine doesn't seem to force them or punish them if they ignore it, otherwise they would have cited that as the reason they do them.

It's jarring because it's intentional. It's a call back to prerendered backgrounds where the camera couldn't move because it was just characters superimposed on a still image.

I think it's deeper than that.
I think that Caine was programmed inside an office environment, and the computer in that office is essentially where The Amazing Digital Circus was created.
It's not that he intentionally made the office boring to discourage people. It's that he has some vague awareness that there's an "Outside" world, but that office is all he actually knows about it. To the best of his abilities, he gave Pomni exactly what he thought she was asking for.
