The Americanization of media where everyone is just sweatily making sarcastic jokes about the source material is, weirdly enough, not super appealing to the people who are watching this because they loved the original. There is just something so distinctly "huhhuhhuh USA USA" about writing something that isn't as smart as it thinks it is, but has to constantly assert that me and you, the audience, we're the clever ones, because we don't buy into all this silly crap. Macho pseudo-intellectual BS
Irony is so boring. Sarcasm is so boring. It is deeply insecure to its core. I don't buy it, give me a thousand hours of shows and movies and books and games that are full-heartedly genuine and silly and loves and believes in itself for it.

I heard someone say that Leslie Nielsen oncece said that tge golden rule of comedy is to not treat it like one.
>Leslie Nielsen
Leslie Nielsen also spent the last decade of his career making the unfunniest movies in existence.
But by today's standards, they're funnier
>weirdly enough, not super appealing to the people who are watching this because they loved the original.
Poor those 12 people who read the GOTG comic before the movie was announced
So what are you saying? Comic book movies shouldn't appeal to comic fans?
>When the shitty Squeenix Guardians game makes a more likeable Guardians cast than the movies.
Except Rocket, their Rocket was shit. MCU Rocket is the best and that's because he's the one character Gunn really cared about.
Old Mantis: boring. Old Drax: boring. Old Groot: boring. Star Lord was Sgt. Rock with a cooler helmet. The comic guardians were fricking boring, the only one of them ARGUABLY better represented in the comics was Gamora.
I'm talking about the game which improved on the MCU characters with Rocket being the exception. The Giffen/DnA Star-Lord was pretty interesting in that he was a Han Solo devil may care guy who did the hard decisions but ultimately strived to be good.
MCU Star-Lord could have been good but no one took him out of the dumbass manchild persona and just fricking treated him like a joke. The game at least gave him a motivation and a purpose outside of arrested development mommy issues and just going aimlessly around the Galaxy doing shit. Drax was more than just a one trick joke and he actually develops his sense of humor, Mantis is a better character than her comic and MCU counterparts, Gamora is more like her comic self in that she makes shitty jokes and is allowed to be more than a stoic female assassin, Rocket was the one that wasn't as good as his MCU counterpart and I really couldn't care less about Groot.
Drax the Destroyer wasn't even a character in the re-envisioned GotG comic, he was just stoic "must kill Thanos, must kill Thanos" with his visual aesthetic cribbed from Vin Diesel.
Before that he was "More moronic Hulk", and before that caped green "must kill Thanos".
>give me a thousand hours of shows and movies and books and games that are full-heartedly genuine and silly and loves and believes in itself for it.
Frick off and watch Barney the Dinosaur then
>He's actually trying to defend this capeshit garbage
Lol
>The Americanization
Let me stop you right there.
We do not give a shit about your country.
No, no, no stop your reply right there.

All this post demonstrates is that you have no interests outside of assembly line capeshit. I'm sorry you're like this, but don't take it out on the rest of the world.
The entire entertainment industry in America is infected with this mindset.
It's hard to create a comedy, it's easy to make something dark serious. This is just low IQ coping
Dark and serious requires a lot more thought, it requires careful crafting and a lot of work into suspending the viewers disbelief. Comedies are not like this.
no lol, any moron can right something serious
>No argument
It's literally common sense at this stage anon, you can't tell me it's harder to write a sad song that it is to write a funny song. Nobody can write a funny song because it takes actual skill and effort
>Still no argument
How is making a funny story harder than a serious one?
The realm of things that we find dramatic, the things that make us angry or sad, are relatively uniform. It's an appeal to very basic emotions that everyone (outside of psychopaths) shares. Drama is basically, you put your trust or hope in something, and it doesn't work out (or maybe it does in the end!), and you experience those emotions by proxy. Very simple. Much the same reason horror movies are so successful as a genre.
Sure, there's simple comedy too. Boil it down and humor is about surprise. The very first joke ever found in writing was a fart joke dating back to 1900 BC. The fart, that simple sudden unexpected and hilarious sound, is probably the first thing humanity ever laughed at. Also very simple.
However, humor and comedy have evolved -dramatically- since then.
Drama is about very basic human experiences we all share in common; they basically don't change, no matter what time period you're in. They might have a different veneer on them, but being stabbed in the back by someone you thought was a trusted friend hurts just as much over a smartphone as it does via telegram or quill-penned letter.
Humor though, it changes from generation to generation, and people group to people group. Some humor is more durable than others, but what is "funny" is greatly influenced by your environment as you age. Try listening to some -really- old comedy radio programs, or some -really- old newspaper comics. Some of it will still hit and be hilarious, but it won't be too hard to find large chunks that just seem to fall flat. Guarantee you those parts made people laugh back in their time.
When is the last time you read a book that made you laugh out loud throughout probably years? Yet any moron with an liberal arts degree can right some drama, tragedy or love story. I have no musical talent could probably wright a decent depressing song as I am taking shit yet I will never in my life wright a funny song because it's actually difficult
>moron kun goes silent
It's easy to make a comedy when half your jokes are "DUDE COMIC BOOKS ARE WEIRD AND STUPID LMAO" and the other half are sex jokes.
you wanna know what happen to genuine in the real world? IF FRICKING DIES. IT GETS STABBED IN THE ASS AND BLEEDS OUT YOU FRICKING CHSELTERED BASEMENT DWELELING PIECE OF SHIT BICH YES I WILL MOCK YOUR STUPID IDEALIM BECASE THIS IS A WOLDF EAT MAN WORLD AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT SO BEST JUST TO ADAPT I WOULD UNIRONICALLY FRICKING SLIT YOUR THOAT IF I EVEN SENSED YOU WERE A DSNGWR TO ME AND I WOULD BE 10000% RIGHT.
