This. If Joker 2 underperforms it's unironically over.
They have nothing else that will succeed. Even then it's still likely not enough.

Bro no normies remember a director that hasn't worked on a property in 7+ years unless they're a big name like Spielberg.

What fricking shithole are you in that COVID was a major issue in 2022, and how does that explain a sequel to fricking Doctor Strange, a character who was an inside joke in pop culture 18 years ago, making more than Batman. A character who was a franchise in and of itself in terms of movies for 23 years

it was kino and well received by those who watched it despite the hateboner for it on this shithole of a website.

If you want to get people in theaters you need to offer something they can't get from streaming.
I will say that in a technical sense this is a better Batman movie than the Nolan movies, but it still feels like something we've seen before.

This movie is ugly to look at, nonsensical, stupid, and overly long, with a grating out of pace Nirvana soundtrack that seems to repeat over and over.

    only good batman film

    Three big reasons:

1: It came out in the middle of DC setting itself on fire, creating some confusion because there was ALREADY a current Batman and this was not him. So Batman was essentially competing against himself

2: Post-covid, theater numbers have never bounced back to their pre-pandemic box office with extremely rare exceptions.

3: It crossed the line in terms of doubling down on being darker and grittier takes on Batman, just like the 2 previous batman franchises before it. This being the first Batman film that unambiguously has gone further down and dark and gritty rabbithole than general audiences will tolerate. You can't just do the same trick but more extreme this time over and over and expect the same response.

      >It came out in the middle of DC setting itself on fire
No Way Home came out at the absolute low point of the MCU, excuses excuses
      >Post-covid, theater numbers have never bounced back to their pre-pandemic box office
Strange 2 would have possibly made a billion if China had not been a mess. More excuses.
      > It crossed the line in terms of doubling down on being darker and grittier takes on Batman
Yeah, people have never been KILLED in Batman movies before, except All of Them.

Cause the Batman is a dumb movie. It’s aesthetic over story. Batman got talked down about white privilege, wealth inequality, and corruption. Fricking Batman, as if he had no idea about it. There wasn’t any draw to the story outside of COOL SHOTS and muh eat the rich. The riddler was also a shit cringe villain. At the end of the day there’s just no rewatch value whatsoever, completely forgettable movie.

    It didn’t
This, along with Joker, show there’s still an audience for DC stuff
It’s just the DCEU that’s been dead for years. I have hope Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, he has shown to be able to make great capeshit

  13. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Has the same problem with all modern capeshit: unfocused, more interested in hyping up sequels and spin-offs than having the film itself be coherent, and forced "representation" of minorities regardless if it's relevant towards what the movie is supposed to be about. In a movie called "The Batman", half of the film is about catwoman. If they're going to do a new Batman, it should be predominantly about Batman, and they can't even manage to get this right.

Batman himself has always been the most boring character in his own movies. He's such an iconic IP that no risks can be taken with the character.

      >forced representation
I thought Jeffrey Wright and Zoey Kravitz were great actually and Catwoman has been black more often then white in live action at this point I'm pretty sure.

      >unfocused
This I agree with, but I also don't think the problem is focusing on Catwoman. This movie's use of the character is still loads better than DKR. Honestly the bit that got me in theaters was this shit

      started off great.
but after riddler was captured the movie fell off a cliff.

there's like three fricking climaxes and the ending at the stadium just keeps GOING. The worst bit is where Batman has to cut his rope and fall into the water for some reason and its set up very dramatically as if he'll be electrocuted on impact and nothing happens. He lands and wades over and keeps doing shit. Especially after he took the drugs to keep going and took a bit of a beating it just seemed like pointless tension and fake outs over and over again.

Why do the morons on this shithole of a site keep pretending that this movie was a failure? It was
    >well received critically
    >well received by general audiences
    >more profitable than MOS/BVS together
    >better legs than BVS
    >was the biggest movie on HBO Max
    >is receiving not only a sequel, but a Penguin spin-off show currently in development
    >is the most successful dc movie in years, grossing more than any since Joker
Is it Snyderjeets? Are they made that they never got the Batfleck movie that was scrapped because Affleck lost interest in being Batman?

      Anonymous

largely agreed but idk man even I feel a little bad for Batfleck. The acting wasn't the problem with his iteration of the character.

It's my favorite Batman movie of all time, can't wait for the second one. What do you bros hope to see in the sequels?

I hope we see a lot of Bruce Wayne and daytime action in the sequel. Regardless of who the villain is, I want to see him realise his Bruce Wayne persona can be just as helpful as The Batman.

I really hope the trilogy ends with a more grounded take on Morrison's Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. Have it be a tight and brutal battle for Batman's survival against a marathon of his rogues as he confronts his own trauma and his mother's mental illness in the same Asylum she was admitted to. I'm thinking The Raid meets True Detective
