There are some... odd implications for giving their employees a fricking knife.

A Leatherman is an expensive, quality multitool that happens to have a knife for when you need to cut things
    You ragebaiting frick

Most of those tools look like knives.

Aren't all these swiss army knives now basically just novelties at this point? Like, the outdoorsy and handyman types just buy the actual quality tools.
Like, there's no reason for these things. It's why they come out with stupid models like pic rel

            Anonymous

They're generally made for quick fixes and when you're remote. The 16999 was made as an expensive gag that some people legitimately bought. But even Victorinox (aka the Swiss army knife people) got into making the same format as Leatherman once it was popularized. Frankly more than anything if you get one of the Victorinox cards it has everything you need for daily stuff: scissors, dull blade for boxes, tweezers, "toothpick," tiny screwdriver

            Anonymous

pliers/screwdriver/bottle opener work well enough on the chance you're caught out
the blades and scissors on these things are always dogshit and you'll wish you had just put regular ones of those in your glovebox too
corkscrew, file, and anything else are a total meme

            Anonymous

I mean yes but the point of a multi tool is that it's in your person at any given time. Sure I have a better pair of pliers or a better screwdriver but they're large and I keep them in my garage. My leatherman literally always leaves the house with me.

            >Like, the outdoorsy and handyman types just buy the actual quality tools.
The outdoorsy types who actually hike or go on an hour long bike ride and the like do not want to carry an entire toolbox as that's impractical and a lot of excess and unnecessary weight. While other tools might work better, those are not suited to carrying with you due to constraints on weight, size or both.
Particularly when a good part of the time a smaller tool will suffice just fine than a full size one.

I can somewhat see what they're going for with this but still it is odd as frick.
Imagine being some animator at cn and then suddenly they send you this tool for you, I mean it's cool for stuff at home but what does it have to do with working in cartoons?

      Anonymous

If you're an adult and have adult responsibilities then a Leatherman is useful to you
If you don't have adult responsibilities then even the bottle opener is still useful to you
But yes it's a weird thing to give to a cartoon show runner if they don't ask for it

nunhucks are actually dangerous in the right hands. You're not supposed to twirl them around like a toy, they were made to choke people to death.

I have used a Skeletool as an everyday carry for years and years now. I never leave home without it, and I have a spare in my car. It's slim and has the most useful tools that are needed in a pinch, and if you need anything more than this you probably need to use a proper tool.

Hope Zaslav isn't planning a trip to the animation building anytime soon, I'm sure the starving artists there won't be afraid to use these

lol while cool it implies a real sick problem with the heteronormative patriarchy among CN execs.

      Anonymous

More likely it implies a real sick deal that the CN execs found on a bulk order of leathermans.
I promise you the reason this was the 'gift' was because they found a way to get them cheaper than a stupid hat or towel or something.

  28. 5 months ago
    Anonymous

That's cool and all, but it's a pretty weird gift to hand out to cartoon people because most of them have no practical skills and probably shouldn't be trusted with anything more dangerous than a pencil.

That's not a knife it's a multitool. Onions bugmen and zoomers don't know anything about being handy.
