deepfake has existed for years and there are oceans of them. it was only good for one thing (swapping similar faces) and wasn't that great. AI generation went open source less than a year ago and suddenly AI image generation surged from barely comprehensible images to coherent to high quality to animation in that time.
Anything longer than a few minutes is still going to take a shitload of time to render, so that hurdle is not going to just disappear because of AI
In the end making a "movie" this way is still going to take some effort.

free google colab takes around one second per image/frame. So at that rate, three minutes, 24 fps, would take 72 minutes to render.
