How does the Justice League handle the Viltrumite invasion?

I'm sure it sounded fun in your head OP but he truth is Marvel and DC are already way overpopulated with superhumans so combining them and then adding more shit on top would just make things even more of a clusterfrick and would also make any kind of stakes impossible without rendering 95% of your characters irrelevant for the story

      >Marvel and DC are already way overpopulated with superhumans so combining them would make clusterfrick
It would be the perfect setup for that Twilight of the Superheroes story Alan Moore proposed.

Maybe a cross between Twilight of the Superheroes and Top 10 where they have to build a city to house all the superheroes and supervillains

I think OP means it more as a single timeline like where it slowly goes from Watchman, to Incredibles, to x men to modern capes to All Star Superman abd 2099 to MHA to Legion of Superheroes followed by the 41st millennium and Kang’s time

Would Vought make it to modernity? I feel like they'd be hijacked by genuine supervillains and/or various shadow government projects as soon as people realized they were on to something.

At the very least, bereft of a complete monopoly on superheroes and the existence of threats that only superhumans can solve, they'd need to stop coasting on novelty and instill discipline into their capes almost immediately.

            Anonymous

Since worm and Watchmen are factors here, I’d imagine that Vought probably gets taken over by Ozymandias and then Cauldron helps them along, using their Supes as basically living propaganda pieces for recruiting superhumans into the fight against the coming threats of Scion, the Viltrumites, and Darkseid

              Anonymous

The interesting thing about the Entities is that unlike in Worm, appeasement is a possible outcome. If you can provide a less destructive exit for the shards that costs the Entities less energy then they'd probably go for it. If you get them to see all the weirdness this Earth has to study and say that their original timetable is too short to learn it all, they might reconsider. Or rather, the Shard Network might, but Scion is infected with despair and humanity and is probably irrevocably damaged. And in a big crossover setting, there might be a lot of people besides Jack Slash who can weaponize him.

...on the upside, since I'm pretty sure Eidolon would be able to see a lot of things tougher than him, he might not accidentally activate the Endbringers?

                Anonymous

Given how time travel is a thing in this universe, as are the infinity stones, it’s possible that the entities might stay on Earth indefinitely and even grant their shard’s permission to leave the atmosphere and go on space missions simply because the existence of the Legion of Superheroes shows that Earth will act as a nexus of important data for millennia to come. Allowing shards to leave with their hosts via mechanisms like GL rings in order to go on research expeditions

Only problem is that the shard network might send out a signal requesting more entities arrive to study the crossover setting, which might cause Earth to become infested with shards

                Anonymous

I think Entities are far too asocial for that, though an interesting wrinkle could be what happens when one of the countless hostile civilizations invading Earth are themselves infested by an entity.

                Anonymous

Ooh, that could be very fun. I think the most likely candidates for infestation are probably either the Skrulls due to their super skrull fixation
They might even have ships specifically designed to house shards for the invasion force

The Viltrumites strike me as hating competition, so they’d likely have a means of harming some shards. Ah entity trapped in the Flaxan universe would be the most interesting though. Stuck in a dimension that rapidly approaching the heat death

The thing that always gets me is how you're planning to handle time? Because a lot of the indie cape settings are more attuned to an era and have characters age etc, while Marvel and DC are a lot more free floating.

The main thing is that if Superman and Spider-Man debut in "the recent past" that means that they'd be completely eclipsed by their own derivatives, and the idea of Superman being seen as a ripoff of Omni-Man rubs me the wrong way.

      Anonymous

Maybe we can have Superman appear in his original time only for him and Lois to get flung into the future by the Ultra Humanite

        Anonymous

That's a decent way of doing it, I was more just going to say frick it and have him be around the whole time and both Lois and Lex have either found ways to cheat death, or actually have them pass away.

          Anonymous

Maybe, though the reason why I suggested it was mostly because it explains why there are so many Superman expies in the setting as well as setting him up as a being from a kinder time. Here’s how I see it.

          >Superman arrives in his average time, goes on adventures, loves Lois and befriends Captain America
          >Superman and Lois get sucked into a time portal
          >Captain America freezes
          >Lex becomes immortal out of sheer spite knowing he will return.
          >the U.S. scrambles to replace their two most prominent heroes, leading to the creation of many of the Superman copies and inspiring Omni Man to pose as the “one true successor”
          >Superman returns in the late 90s/early 2000s

            Anonymous

Could work, though I feel like that gets a bit derivative of Captain America.

How about instead of just "then" to "now" Clark and Lois emerge periodically throughout the past century, skipping across it like a stone, emerging whenever a new crisis looms and a new age of heroes needs guidance only to disappear once more after they're no longer needed.

And one of the underlying concerns about the present is that Superman has never stayed in the present this long which means that the world is still in peril.

              Anonymous

That could be a good point to make. And a fun bit of extra peril once Superman finally settled down with Lois to have a family which would be terrifying to most since how long will the peril last if he has time to have kids

Also how do you think the Plutonian’s rampage and the death of Superman arc may play together.

                Anonymous

I think Irredeemable is one of the problems

I'm sure it sounded fun in your head OP but he truth is Marvel and DC are already way overpopulated with superhumans so combining them and then adding more shit on top would just make things even more of a clusterfrick and would also make any kind of stakes impossible without rendering 95% of your characters irrelevant for the story

pointed out. Plutonian wouldn't be placed on a pedestal and feared above all others so the underlying cause for his breakdown could either never arrive or he has peers who could help him. And if he does go in a rampage it probably wouldn't last as long. If nothing else, there's probably less destructive ways to set his parents up on him.

Parents who themselves kind of feel like a perfected form of the Entities after having achieved mastery over physical laws.

                Anonymous

That’s a really interesting thought, and it aligns well with the two godlike beings stated desire to collect knowledge

I think the Plutonian would probably still rampage here. It would just be cause if a different trigger this time. Perhaps losing something important or a desire to be better

Would Billy Butcher join the Slaughterhouse Nine?

He definitely wouldn't join, but he might try to take it over and completely rebrand it, but he's kind of a big fish in a small pond so I don't know how far he'd get

True. I could definitely see Jack nominating him though. Seeing his backstory and the similar names as a reason to put him through the trials.
Actually that could be a good moral challenge for the Boys. They spend so much time hating on heroes, but who do they call for help when the supervillain serial killers come knocking

Since both Marvel and DC have their own versions of a multiverse, my head canon is that the multiverse encompasses both of them BUT they're so far apart on the spectrum that they only bleed together a bit near the middle (and those are the "crossover" comics they've tossed at us a few times over the years).
