it's New York city they just walk by people bleeding to death on the sidewalk
i thought they was filmed in Chicago.
If it was Chicago the kids would have been in on the robbery
You sound like you’re from Chicago.
It's Gotham not NYC
same shithole different name
if in NYC in the real world people walk by injured and dying bystanders all the time, you should probably consider it'd likely be much worse in gotham
That's even worse anon
Gotham is a nickname for NYC that predates Batman comics.
https://www.nypl.org/blog/2011/01/25/so-why-do-we-call-it-gotham-anyway
>NO MORE DEAD CAWPS!
>Maybe if you morons actually did your jobs and arrested people drive schoolbuses through brick walls, people would care about dead cops
>*police proceed to get their entire force trapped in the sewers for 6 months*
This is a dumb meme by soft bodied new yorkers still trying to push the 1970s stereotype from when NYC was a crime ridden shithole (since cleaned up). They freak out over everything.
Compare this to west coast cities where their streets are littered with corpses of ODing junkies, used needles, and human feces. I would much rather live in NYC than a post-apocalyptic shithole like San Francisco, Portland, LA, or Seattle.
when the frick was the last time you've been to NYC? 2013?
Nta but I can say a lot of cities do a good job of segregating it at least in my experience(travel for work) with known shithole cities. Places like NYC, Chicago, Phily and D.C. are pretty good about out of sight out of mind kinda stuff where the bad parts of town are separate from the good parts but I can tell you places like Portland, Seattle and LA you are much more likely to catch tents, homeless people and all other manner of cultural enrichment around the tourist and commerce area of the city. What I mean to say is in LA I feel like I could get my car broken into or mugged anywhere in the city but in New York or Chicago depends the neighborhood.
All coastoids are subhumans.
>hey, 911, a schoolbus just pulled out of a bank... no I mean the front of the bank, it had backed into it... it was inside the lobby... yes i can describe it, its a school bus. just like the other two dozen that just passed me.
>It had backed into a bank and then drove out of it? So you're saying we should be looking for a school bus significantly damaged yet still driving around?
Yes.
>it’s the one with fricking dust all over it from rubble
>okay, put out a stop and search on every school bus in the vicinity at that time. That'll be done in a few hours.
>hey dispatch this is patrol 22-57, you know, the police who are out and about every day
>we have a bus covered in what looks like masonry dust passing our location right now
My post was unironic
so was mine
the point was it wouldn't even take an hour
school busses have numbers, stupid
You mean the damaged bus with a clown driving it?
No, the other one, the one with the MAGA bumper sticker
just another day in Shitville
More like Gotham Shitty am I right
There's just too many busses in that line for us to actually find the right one.
This scene was always so bizarre to me. When the bus initially hits the building wouldn't there be a massive scene happening outside? People running over to see if everyones okay? It was, dare I say, one of the most poorly written scenes in a film of this scale that I've seen.
Maybe the other bus drivers was on the sting
Yeah. Almost all Nolan movies are like this - cool setpieces and scenes, but once you think a little it makes no fricking sense at all.
Ok since you're moronic and don't know what a plot hole is let me explain it to you. A plot hole is something that happens in the movie that contradicts something else that occurs in the movie.
THIS is not an example of a plot hole. This would be what people would call a plot contrivance, something that is seemingly unbelievable and occurs so that the story can move forward. Do you understand, moron? Ok. Good.
The movie presents a civilian and police population not entirely composed of literal drooling morons. This contradicts that.
These movies thoroughly showcase that the city of Gotham is ran by the most moronic people on earth. Probably the biggest example is when in Rises the ENTIRE police force is sent down into tunnels to find Bane. Only for them to all be trapped. It was simultaneously so goddamn stupid and hilarious I nearly had an aneurysm
Never mind the fact that Joker in this movie is pretty much Hannibal Lecter. He’s movie smart. He doesn’t actually do anything clever, he’s just magic and does whatever villainous things he wants without having to actually show the audience how he accomplishes any of it. It’s how morons write smart people. They’re not actually intelligent, so how could they write someone intelligent
that's still a plot hole. just because a movie is filled with plot holes doesn't mean it's reasonable to assume that it takes place in an alternate universe where backwards logic applies
Look up what plot hole means. Plot hole doesn’t mean “stupid thing I don’t like.” It doesn’t mean “thing that doesn’t make sense in the real world.” It has be something very specific that goes against what the movie has already set up. Plot holes are impossible things that happened and contrivances are improbable things that happened. Calling this scene a plot hole is as stupid as saying that the scene in Man of Steel when Jonathan Kent tells Clark to stay back and not try to save him so he can die by CG tornado is a plot hole. Just call it a contrivance. Call it stupid. But don’t call it a plot hole.
Actual plot holes are exceedingly rare.
Nobody cares loser
that man of steel one is not a plot hole, correct.
however, the bizarre absence of response in TDK is. People aren't shown to be making a stupid decision. People aren't shown to be accepting of another stupid decision,
A bus noisily and messily enters and exits a bank and it's played off as stealth.
It’s a creative contrivance. A plot hole typically refers to a logical inconsistency or gap in the story that cannot be explained within the established rules or logic of the narrative. On the other hand, a plot contrivance refers to a situation or event that is orchestrated by the writer or filmmaker to advance the plot or create a specific outcome, even if it may seem unlikely or convenient.
In The Dark Knight, the Joker blending in with the school buses is a deliberate choice made by the filmmakers to showcase the Joker's ability to plan and execute unconventional strategies, as well as his knack for chaos and deception. While it may stretch believability to some extent, it serves the purpose of highlighting the Joker's unpredictable nature and the challenges faced by the police in dealing with him.
So, rather than being a plot hole, this particular scene can be considered a creative plot contrivance that adds to the tension and unpredictability of the story.
I dunno… sounds pretty contrived to me
it can be considered that way in a vacuum. the police for the remainder of TDK aren't the insane buffoons that TDKR turned them into
mix the "prisoner with a bomb in his chest" plot with the bank bit and you have a perfectly good reason for little to no response, and further highlight the chaotic planning
you sound 13
it can be considered bad writing
I never argued that it wasn’t bad writing. I prefer stories to flow naturally without relying on dumb plot contrivances. But Christopher Nolan obviously didn’t care because he thought the idea of “using a school bus as a getaway vehicle that followed other school buses that were just conveniently going the same route in a perfect uniform line” was clever and visually interesting. Personally, I think it’s stupid, but who am I to tell Christopher Nolan that?
>Christopher Nolan obviously didn’t care because he thought the idea of “using a school bus as a getaway vehicle that followed other school buses that were just conveniently going the same route in a perfect uniform line” was clever
yea hes a moron
It's Christopher Nolan. He's not going to think that far.
He is correct. Just because Batman exists in this current day setting doesnt make the rest of the world make no sense when compared to the real world. The same laws still apply.
Plot hole is something that is nonsensical or contradicts the laws of the established world or writing. Yes, nobody noticing that whole scene for 5 minutes and then the bus just driving away is indeed a plot hole.
Stop coping.
The man of steel one is a plot hole because he ends up destroying that guys truck in a public place which would do a lot to reveal himself
>a father wanting to protect his son from xenophobia and being abducted by the USA goverment to be used as an experiment is le plot contrivance
>it's not a plot hole because the sequel does it again but worse
ok
seems wierd to let media inflict stockholm syndrome on you, but whatever
What I described wasn’t a plot hole either moron. Like I said, plot holes are exceedingly rare.
I’m trying to correct you about what is factual. This has nothing to do with whether I like the movies or not.
>the ENTIRE police force is sent down into tunnels to find Bane
This was always hilarious. It’s like Nolan forgot about differing shifts and sections within a company.
>this is Deputy Chief Gordon, yes, tell the commissioner to get every single officer down in the tunnels
>you mean all of Dayshift?
>no, I mean Days, Swings, Graves and every specialized section
>all the shifts? But that’s gonna cost us a ton in Overtime and I don’t think our detective sections are gonna be useful trudging through the tunnels
>just get everyone done there and flush out Bane
>what do you mean everyone?
The cops charging into battle vs Bane's boys has to be one of the most moronic moments in cinematic history.
Yep.
And the fact that Nolan hyped it up prerelease makes it even worse
The cops can't catch a rogue vigilante running around dressed in a fricking cartoon bat costume.
That was before Snowden leaking how entrenched the surveillance system is ROFLMAO. It did kinda spoil it.
Although a cartoon, I think only Justice League Unlimited pointed out the silliness of masked superheroes because, oopsie, the government already knows who Clark Kent & Bruce Wayne really are. The only reason they don't fear them is because Superman sticks to his moronic morals, while Batman relies on the government for contracts with his company.
Fricking kek.
Well, the movie does take place in America so that's kind of a flimsy assumption
it contradicts the premise that the joker would escape because seemingly nobody noticed a bus backing into a building, which was something that happened in the movie
Cool, now just explain that again tomorrow to the next ESL newbie. And the day after that. And the day after that.
>A plot hole is something that happens in the movie that contradicts something else that occurs in the movie.
gotham is shown to have citizens and police
these people are conspicuously absent in the event where a large, downtown bank is struck by a school bus
problem, moron?
That’s a contrivance. Not a plot hole, moron.
a big enough contrivance is a plot hole if you show competence in other parts of the movie.
the construction site bit in TDK implies a degree of competence, hence why batman is struggling so much. They'd behave like that for a relatively minor hostage situation but not for the known mob's bank having a giant crisis?
as for TDKR, yeah, the whole fricking movie is contrivances. doesn't excuse the previous film.
Go the frick back to TVTropes, you hopeless autist.
Make me, you little b***h.
This stuff is kind of subjective. It can be debated endlessly but it’s not necessarily going to reach a satisfactory conclusion. A great example of this is the debate over whether or not Batman getting out in time in The Dark Knight Rises before the nuke went off is a contrivance or plot hole. Within the context of the movie, they repeatedly say that the bomb has a 6 mile radius. It would be virtually impossible for Batman to escape that radius of the bomb when he only had, what was it, like 15 seconds left on the counter? On the other hand, the movies have established Batman is le ultimate smart guy, they constantly stretch believability and established fictional tech. So maybe it’s a contrivance? You can talk about this ad nauseum. Just say it’s stupid and move on
this is why the ending is shit. they should have left it ambigious with an enigmatic look on michael caine's face and not show bruce and selina
He just got inside a refrigerator in those 15 seconds, thus he was shielded from the blast.
I don't appreciate how you said it, but I appreciate the distinction you're making.
no man that wall definitely had a hole in it
you're a plot hole
it was a mob bank so they probably just thought some mob kids were getting dropped off.
Somebody said "school's out!" and everyone laughed and went about their day.
Grandma got up of wheelchair and starts raping faster than Joker
The Dark Knight Rises was way worse for plot holes. I particularly enjoyed the stock market scene and teleporting Batman.
They entered the bank with no motorcycles but they leave with motorcycles insides the stock exchange. Wtf?????
the joker had other bus drivers in on it you dumb dumb
The worst was how Joker kept offing all his henchmen yet they’d keep showing up to work with him and not just the schizo morons.
I heard Joker’s dental package was on point
DENTAL PLAN
LISA NEEDS BRACES
It's a pothole alright but not as bad as the clown that says his name is Dunnheir and expecting that to mean anything to the audience
First of all, despite the mafias being afraid of Batman, it's still a city full of criminals and its citizens are still keeping everything to themselves. Almost zero chance they're gonna do anything about it .
Secondly, nobody knows what happened inside the bank. If you saw a bus crushing out of a bank like that what would your first response be? Calling the police? Why? It might have been purely an accident for all they know. Reminder that the public still dont trust the police as well.
Not a plothole. The GCPD was busy investigating this unfortunate tragedy
hm good point anon, going to my letterboxd to change my rating right now!
>a cloud of debris literally trails onto the bus behind it
>there is no way the bus driver could not only miss seeing a literal bus reverse out of a bus-sized hole, but also not need to turn on his wipers and windshield spray to clear off his windshield
Nolan really just socks at suspension of disbelief. He can make a good story, as long as it's in a magical world where all causality is shared towards the main characters and their actions and thoughts.
Its the same thing as the plane scene from Dark Night Rises. Utterly incomprehensible bullshit going on for the sake of spectacle.
Nolan makes movies for morons. Interstellar is the same exact thing.
>Utterly incomprehensible bullshit going on for the sake of spectacle.
You mean utter KINO
No!
Its funny to post about specifically because it makes no sense.
How did the pilots of the CIA plane just not notice that the big cargo plane was lining up in front of them, and dropping dudes via rappel lines to attack them.
They would have had to be TRYING to help them make that shit work.
Dunnhier probably bribed someone at the police to look the other way. Remember he was a pro.
>giant gap for bus to fit perfectly
>other school buses in financial district in middle of day for some reason
>no other school bus notices or cares about a random bus pulling out of literal building in front of them
>none call it in on their radios or report it to police or anything
>doesnt get stuck in traffic with a literal fricking bus
>this plan is predicated on blending in with the buses in pinpoint accuracy
>he was delayed for several minutes by manager attacking him with shotgun at last minute
>still fits perfectly into school bus getaway
this movie is so fricking bad and right from the get go.
Through the whole trilogy Brice was only Batman for like a week.
this annoys my autism so much that ive headcanoned it this way
batman begins is batmans origin
he serves as batman for like 3 years- fighting other villains and criminals
in like last year before tdk he goes after mob thats why joker says a year ago these cops and lawyers wouldnt dare cross any of you
after tdk batman keeps fighting for a while until he retires- more secretly
thats why he has batcave
last confirmed sighting 8 years ago due to being in secret
that way he was fighting for like 8-10 years over the whole trilogy which is slightly less lame
what? where is this even stated in the movies?
Um... no sweetie. It's a comic book fantasy movie. That means nothing has to make sense.
Cinema Sins ruined criticism of movies
>So no one--including the police--noticed this?
>The first rule of nolan movies: you do not think about nolan movies
>The second rule of nolan movies:you do not think about nolan movies!
The movie had problems but it was more about the performances than the plot. The whole movies felt like showcasing Heath Ledger's joker more than anything else.
PROTIP: The whole movie is like this, and it's shit.
>muh plotholes
Who cares? It was shit because it's capeshit. And typical Nolan trash ontop of that: It has typical Hollywood-blockbuster cinematography and colour grading, it flows like it's edited by a drunken clown, and it's hammy and overacted from every single member of the cast.
But of course, your favourite youtube critics don't know shit about filmmaking, and neither do you, so you focus on "plot holes" instead.
I hate what your /r/edditors turned Cinemaphile into.
Dick Cheney was in charge of the GCPD that day. And the Joker had a kryptonite belt which gave him his power.
Comic books are literally all about contrivances, you could even define them that way, not sure why it would filter so many 'plot hole!' autists.
people probably thought it was part of a movie shoot for the movie series 'night owl'
Why is Robin not a Kid and why is he named John Blake and not Dick Grayson
I think his name is Robin John Blake.
Another question I’d ask is why was the Joker larping as the Clock King in that scene and only that scene? He says later he never has a plan, but he must have spent months planning all that bullshit down to the nanosecond.
