>The Dark Side of the Rainbow – also known as Dark Side of Oz or The Wizard of Floyd – is the pairing of the 1973 Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon with the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. This produces moments of apparent synchronicity where the film and the album appear to correspond. Members of Pink Floyd and the Dark Side of the Moon engineer Alan Parsons denied any intent to connect the album to the film.

Yeah what about it? There are definitely some parts that sync up but most likely a coincidence.
it's bullshit and a complete coincidence as confirmed multiple times by Waters.
The parts don't sync up at all.
What are some albums that feel like true “album experiences” with a very intentional flow rather than just a collection of songs?
You're looking for concept albums.
that’s not the definition
Danger Mouse does this pretty well. Try Rome and Evil Friends.
Hospice by The Antlers too.
the big pink floyd albums
sgt peppers
ziggy stardust
whats going on
court of the crimson king
You're the most pretentious musical basic b***h imaginable, Jesus Christ.
Some people don’t go beyond the basic classic albums. Post your taste if you think you’re better
Here's your pity (you), schoolgirls.
Hipster homosexual
those were the first ones to come to my mind lmao, lets see your taste homosexual
Several Yes albums if you can stand how gay Jon Anderson is

>Pic related
>Big Swamp Gospel
>Dark Comedy by Open Mike Eagle
>Worry by Jeff Rosenstock
>Yes
yes
Blart Side of the Moon is better.
Yeah on acid once I randomly flipped to a channel playing an orchestral performance that happened to sync up perfectly in spots with a SC3 song that was playing on my stereo, fricking israelites messing with me man
The origins of the "Dark Side of the Rainbow" phenomenon are a bit unclear, and it's difficult to pinpoint exactly who discovered it first. The practice likely began as a rumor or anecdote among fans who experimented with different album and movie pairings. Some sources suggest that it gained popularity in the 1990s with the rise of the internet and online communities where fans could discuss and share their experiences.
I played it backwards and a succubus sucked my wiener
The movie is also three times as long as the album. Are you supposed to play the album 3 times?
Yeah.
for a better experience, sync Wizard Of Oz with Stone Temple Pilots - Tiny Music... Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop
also, pair Tony Richardson's "Mademoiselle" with Broadcast - Tender Buttons and Seijun Suzuki's "Story Of A Prostitute" with Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Some person found out that the runtime of the complete Beatles catalogue is the exact same as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, so they created a fan edit of every Beatles song played over Lord of the Rings. Most of it doesn't sync up obviously but every now and then you would get a "wow" moment when it would go perfectly with the movie
It's these little kind of coincidences that is all that supports most people's faith in god
>hey, can i have a pattern seeking brain?
>"to avoid predators and advance yourself, right?"
>yeah, sure, whatever
>a band's catalogue and a movie trilogy happening to sync up conveniently in a couple spots over 9+ hours is a "pattern"
Well he didn't give you a pattern seeking brain, obviously
moron
>Most of it doesn't sync up obviously but every now and then you would get a "wow" moment when it would go perfectly with the movie
this is how all movie/album pairings work. big dead spots, but a few cool moments. don't go in expecting anything more than that
What makes it even more strange is that The Beatles actually wanted to make a Lord of the Rings movie
>Tiny Music... Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop
what makes this better?
it doesn't have as many coincidences early on, ("breed and incubate" at the incubator, horse whinny when the horses run out of the barn) but does better than Dark Side when you get further into the movie. "Adhesive" set to the gang entering the Wizard of Oz's chamber is a great "vibe" sync, as is "Daisy" when Dorothy is held prisoner.
if you're looking for your own movie/album pairing, and you have a movie you really want to find one for, think of what the most important scene is in the movie, and the timestamp for it
now take different albums and put them into winamp (or whatever program lets you drag an album's folder into a playlist) and find which song coincides with that scene. if the album doesn't match well with the scene(s) that are most important, you can discard it and try another album. if you find a good match for a scene, you can then try watching the whole movie with the album
if you get a few coincidences, and if the general vibe works, then you've got a new movie/album pairing
The way Money starts as soon as the movie turns into color is mind blowing
there's definitely a connection. the wizard of oz is one of those movies boomers are mega obsessed with
The Wizard of Oz was written as a satire on the Gold standard
intresting audio clip for those who dont already know the story

>synchronicity where the film and the album appear to correspond
thematically or lip syncing? boomers are such schizos anyway
it works better with alice in wonderland.
Everything like this is proof that the reality we live in isn't real, entirely. Things that line up for no particular reason. They're like jokes written into the script of reality.
wouldn't it be even weirder if nothing ever lined up ever?
it doesn't fully sync, but some aspects of the film line up. You're better off handpicking a selection of segments from the film and making a music video. morons and addicts will try too hard to justify that these two pieces of media sync up. If you ACTUAL synchronicity watch "Beyond the Mind's Eye - Seed of Life" and listen to "Sigur Ros- Intro + Svefn-g-englar" Make sure it's with the intro track, It syncs up absolutely perfectly with the Seed of Life segment from Beyond the minds eye.
