It's like multiversity gived DC a see of stories and great characters and dc was like Nah we're good bro.
Not only that but the fact is that as Multiversity was concluding, Metal was just gaining steam and people immediately paid 300x more attention to that instead.
So it's not just nah but frick nah.
It was never going to catch on. The idea of a multiverse that isn't infinite confuses the frick out of casuals.
It works if you consider it a manufactured multiverse, different from the typical quantum multiverse based on diverging events and decisions.
This.
and every one of these earths had their characters and premise ready at the go.
All they needed to do is give some writer the green light and boom DC is back.
Infinite Universes can work as long as there is a lot diversity on it's worldbuilding witch each universe being something completely unique but they shoot themselves in the foot when they allowed the moron to just make the multiverse so repetitive. It's a shame really.
The infinite multiverse shouldn't have each universe be so different from another. Most worlds would only be slightly different from one another due to their creation being caused by even the most minuscule of divergences such as you walking a bit faster or standing a couple steps to your left.
But that's not good storytelling.
>WHAT IF SUPERMAN DRESSED TO THE RIGHT INSTEAD OF THE LEFT ON TUESDAY APRIL 27 WHICH HAS A MEDIAN TEMPERATURE OF .0003 F° HIGHER THEN EARTH-2574.03
That's just how an infinite multiverse works. New worlds created every second due to diverging events and decisions. Which is why the idea of a manufactured multiverse works the best when it comes to having worlds that are significantly different from one another.
That wouldn't work, each universe would need an unique premise to be explored over and over. DC could easily make a great limited universe but they were morons and ended up making it way too uniform, you could make the 52 universes work but each universe would need to be unique to compensate it. But we ended with 52 similar universes.
I think they were pretty varied universe though actually.
They really weren't, what is a shame because it was a fantastic idea, they ruined the finite multiverse when they forgot about how important it was for each world to be unqiue enough to compensate it's limitation.
Does it really matter how unique the world's are when they won't get explored?
>They really weren't,
I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree as I think there's a good enough variety as is but more importantly I feel like there was a built-in wiggle room here where there was 7 untouched world open for use and one destroyed universe that could've been revitalized to anything.
Not even speaking how a similar Earths could still be taken in radically different ways.
Instead of a DC Multiverse, it should've been a Warner Multiverse. They could've given placements for IPs like Thundercats, Looney Tunes, Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10.
Teen titans fight vilgax with Ben 10.
holly shit I'll kill to read that.
Could've made Earth-10 the world of Ben 10.
Ben 10 should show up in Earth-10 as a Hitler youth.
Better albedo is a clone of both Ben and Hitler and All of his aliens keep the funny mustache .
Fourarms for twice the Sieg Heils!
Should've made the Nazi Earth into Earth-88.
>infinite universes
My bad I meant finite universes. The 52 universes were too similar so there was no potential.
Wasn’t it that there was an infinite amount of these multiverses clusters? Still infinite but with a gimmick.
Why didn't they just make Earth 4 the Watchmen universe? It's not like they were going to make any stories about the Pax Americana.
Because anon we can't have nice things anymore
Also pax Americana was the last creative, experimental and Great DC comics issue.
True, it sounds really neat at first but you end up with most earths being pointless and stupid shit like so it was instantly ruined by the same person who came with the concept.
So yeah, nice idea but awful execution, it would never work.
>Watchmen rip off
Lmao frick Morrison, frick DC, Alan Moore was right.
bruh the joke is that watchmen was originally written with these characters in mind
And? It's stupid to waste a whole Earth on a joke. They only have 52 of them. Make proper use of them.
But ,it's a very funny joke.
>Watchmen rip off
Does it ever hurt being this moronic?
The multiverse as a fictional concept generally have terrible execution.
Yes
Which one is the injusticee one
Earth-49. Earth-22 in the movie.
Given how the Earth One books went nowhere and certainly do not fit in the same continuity, they should just repurpose Earth-1 as the world of All Star Superman. Especially since DC refuses to make the main Earth into Earth 1 again.
>Given how the Earth One books went nowhere and certainly do not fit in the same continuity
It's a damn shame that earth one green lantern will be wasted
Green lantern not getting fricked in the ass by DC challenge impossible
They should have made pre-52 earth into earth 1 or at least pre crisis.
I don't see the appeal of going back to a pre-crisis world to be honest.
It was never going to work. You can lay out a multiverse as many times as you want, this isn't going to work because it's just a bunch of Elseworlds given numbers. This was the same thing at the end of 52. The only time an alternate universe was successful over a long amount of time was Ultimate Marvel. DC is better when it has no limits and can do whatever it wants.
If they actually took the time to make earth one a consistent release we would've had that. The problem was that they went with volumes instead of issues, and had those volumes be inconsistent at frick
Yeah from Superman Earth one to Wonder Woman Earth one you get the feeling there's no way this can be the same earth.
DC has made it obvious they don't care about having another alternate universe with various stories contributing to it. They don't want those stories to be part of the same world. Writers and editors want their own world with no limitations. You could say the rift among various editor camps is a larger problem for DC. Marvel likely does it better than DC because they have summits and work across the offices for stuff like events and crossovers. DC feels much more segmented in comparison. And that's the main continuity. No wonder they can't extend that to other universes.
it looked like shit to me
>No no you don't get it we needed to ignore all that because we have this amazing idea it's totally gonna work just trust us
Create the batman who laughs and death metal
And they were right.
Why is one universe always
>What if Superman was black
Lmao
I think that's a better idea than replacing the main superman race or giving the title to someone black .
Also it could be better for the writer if it was set in another Earth for him to go wild.
There's a Superman that's a cartoon rabbit and yet you focused on the black guy. Then again Morrison used two black Supermen.
>Oh no we're only allowed to do hekkin what if stories 52 times?
>What ever will we do after that? Actually focus on new stuff for a character instead of constantly rebooting him with the same origin but different powers?
I agree with you
but they already had the settings, the premise and the characters design for All these earths and some of them were very interesting to explore.
Or they could just do "What if Batman were a hoplite at the Battle of Thermopylae" and sell a bunch of comics to Batman consoomers, with little effort.
