>Two weeks ban, no appeal. >What? >Moot is gone, i'm your moderator now. >I don't give a frick, i'd rather give up my Cinemaphile pass first. >World needs plenty of Redditors. TWO WEEKS, NO APPEAL.
Probably the real reason is he is basically not acting.
He didn't have to really put on an accent as he was born around there too and he was probably a prick like that IRL as a youth,
Well, Departed is an hour longer so it obviously had to add some more stuff, but basically every scene in Infernal Affairs is in The Departed just slightly changed and quite a bit of the dialogue too
I use this specific movie as my pseud gauger. I tell my nephews that anyone saying "The Departed is one of the best movies ever" has really poor taste and you shouldn't take their opinions seriously. it's an alright movie at best.
>I tell all my nephews...
That out of all your siblings that you are the only one who hasn't settled down and began a family so you are trying to force yourself as a patental figure on children that aren't even yours?
I bet your siblings make it a rule with their kids that they can't be in a room alone with their creepy single uncle.
It won best picture OP, no matter how much chuds say it sucks, it doesn't matter. Deep down they know along with picrel they are some of the best films ever made.
>quotable
Never seen a Departed quote memed. Ever.
It's also not very original in concept and delivery, LA Confidential was already the far superior law enforcement corruption kino. I'm guessing The Desharted is much more popular because it's one of those "all the actors are A listers" freebies to the studio.
no it was a shit movie that the academy gave an award to because they probably assumed marty was going to croak. Apocalypto should've won best picture and director, but we all know why it didnt.
>"all the actors are A listers"
You mean as opposed to the relative unknowns in LA Confidential like Russel Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce, Kim Basinger, Danny DeVito and James Cromwell? What a quirky band of indie actors I've never heard of.
>I know you, I know your posts. You make one more bait thread with that fricking idiot janny-magnet discord friend of yours and I'll forget your doubles were so nice. I'll nuke your thread. You understand that?
>Maybe it would've done you some good to have some questions from time to time. Am I a cuck? Are my kids trannies? Is my wife a coal burning prostitute? Now those are questions.
I never understood DiCaprio's character's motivation for being a cop. He's smart enough to literally do any other job but instead goes through months of psychological torture to bring down a massive mafia gang in order to get a job as a police officer
He's like a Will Hunting type. He's stuck between wanting to outgrow his native Boston upbringing and fricked up family but he keeps going back to it like a dog to it's shit.
It does get better than the truly obnoxious beginning. It is an alright movie with some nice flourishes, but in the end nothing special and a bit shlocky. Mainstream appeal Scorsese. To an NPC, who are mentally overwhelmed with more challenging stuff it is like shawshank redemption or something, Scorsese can Play them like fiddles and they think that's all there is.
Tasteful goes a bit far. It's an alright movie. But to say it's one of the greatest ever when there's at least (at least!) 5 movies by the same director that are undoubtedly better is a bit rich.
You are of slightly below average or average intelligence. It's a shallow movie, Scorsese ingratiating himself to the mainstream to get a hit. In the bottom third of his filmography easily, so of course this is the one he got the Oscar for. One of the best movies ever made, lol. Watch some more movies, kid.
I'm not calling it some profound masterpiece, pseud. It's fun as frick to watch and has great lines and characters all around. It's rewatchable as frick.
What? You think you can ban somebody and there's a special card to play? That guy Jimmy Dubs who's IP you rangebanned happens to be working undercover for the Central Intelligence Agency.
It's the definition of "I hate it because it's mainstream". The film equivalent of music fans who will proudly spout "I liked them before they became famous" (as if Taxi Driver and Casino, among his others, aren't some of the most famous, mainstream American films ever made).
It's also fricking kino.
pretty mediocre. Scorsese lightest along with Shutter Island and Alice probably. Dogshit taste required. Enjoyed by the same tier of film-watcher who would identify Wes Anderson as one of their favorites
I'm gonna go have a bit of a post, do you wanna go have a bit of a post? You don't post, do ya? What, what are ya? One of those lurker freaks? Go frick yourself.
All his costars in the movie were taller than him so maybe he felt threatened throughout shooting. Character never should've been in the movie anyway. Martin Sheen dying would've held more weight if he was the only one who knew Leo was undercover
I thought goodfellas was entertaining and casino was just ok, where does this rank with them? Those are the only two scorcese movies I've bothered to trudge through. I have zero connection to the east coast
To this day I laugh my fricking ass off to the "Do we have cameras at the back? - What back???" Because it encapsulate the entire Boomer mid level management mentality in one sentence.
Miscasting: the movie. I like Jack Nicholson but casting him for that role was bizarre. DiCaprio was always a mediocre actor and Matt Damon is terrible. Bad movie overall.
Infernal Affairs is amazing btw.
>think the ending is unforeshadowed bullshit >watch it again the very next day for the purpose of finding clues for the ending >see none
shit film
fun to watch the first time but after the end shits on so many characters it's not worth watching again
yeah they used cops from earlier in the movie for the ending, but they exhibited no behavior that showed they were bought off or any communication with the criminals, this point is moronic
Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe frick yourself.
>What's the matter smartass don't know any fricking sneed?
How's your sneeder?
Good, she's tired from feeding my seeder.
>Two weeks ban, no appeal.
>What?
>Moot is gone, i'm your moderator now.
>I don't give a frick, i'd rather give up my Cinemaphile pass first.
>World needs plenty of Redditors. TWO WEEKS, NO APPEAL.
Its the only movie I have watched with whalburg where he is actually a great actor,
unreal presence and character. he is the most memorable part, barring Jack, and then appears in the end in true kino fashion.
Probably the real reason is he is basically not acting.
He didn't have to really put on an accent as he was born around there too and he was probably a prick like that IRL as a youth,
It's overlong and mediocre
Dear diary, today OP was based.
you on your period or somethin?
it's a shitpost, my 'girlfriend' makes them when 'she's' not posting on discord
That's because it's a scene for scene ripoff of a better film
Infernal Affairs was better for sure. The additions made by Scorcese were stupid, such as the therapist being in an affair
I watched both and I don't remember them being that similar.
Well, Departed is an hour longer so it obviously had to add some more stuff, but basically every scene in Infernal Affairs is in The Departed just slightly changed and quite a bit of the dialogue too
wrong
at least the departed doesn't have a bunch of progressively shittier sequels
For me, it’s how they airbrushed Di Caprio’s face to make him even more handsome it did the opposite to Matt Damon.
I use this specific movie as my pseud gauger. I tell my nephews that anyone saying "The Departed is one of the best movies ever" has really poor taste and you shouldn't take their opinions seriously. it's an alright movie at best.
I use posts on Cinemaphile for this purpose. Every time I see somsone post on Cinemaphile, I know they should be executed.
I'm playing spawt the cawp. Found 3 so fah.
Top 3 Scorsese:
Raging Bull
The Departed
Silence
His best decade is the 00s.
After Hours is great too
This fackin' rehtahded guy comes to shit up my thread?
good uncle
>I tell all my nephews...
That out of all your siblings that you are the only one who hasn't settled down and began a family so you are trying to force yourself as a patental figure on children that aren't even yours?
I bet your siblings make it a rule with their kids that they can't be in a room alone with their creepy single uncle.
>Every single scene is great and quotable
funny you should say that because I literally don't remember a single scene or memorable quote. not one
No ticky, no memory
You're either lying or baiting. No need to call it the best movie ever but to say it doesn't have a truckload of great lines is crazy.
I bet he's got two posting styles the little fricking snake
>Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe go frick yourself.
MICKEA PROWCESSAHS
It won best picture OP, no matter how much chuds say it sucks, it doesn't matter. Deep down they know along with picrel they are some of the best films ever made.
Embarrassing
I fell asleep by the middle.
It's not his best. but it's my guilty pleasure. also very rewatchable in my opinion
>Five years from now you can be anything else in the world but you will not be a Cinemaphile janitor.
>quotable
Never seen a Departed quote memed. Ever.
It's also not very original in concept and delivery, LA Confidential was already the far superior law enforcement corruption kino. I'm guessing The Desharted is much more popular because it's one of those "all the actors are A listers" freebies to the studio.
it was a really good movie you're just a miserable c**t.
It was fine, still way over rated
no it was a shit movie that the academy gave an award to because they probably assumed marty was going to croak.
I always felt that DeNiro should be in Nicholson's role. Felt like such an odd casting
For the Bulgier analog, Nicholson's menace is way more believable. DeNiro lost that ability years ago.
Based. It's a top 3 Scorsese. People who don't understand that are pathetic.
>I know you, I know your posts. You make one more bait thread with that fricking idiot janny-magnet discord friend of yours and I'll forget your doubles were so nice. I'll nuke your thread. You understand that?
WHO LET THIS JANNIE MUTHA FRICKA IN MY THREAD?
Just kiddin anon, how's your shitpostin?
>Oh it's on it's way to the archive
>They all are. Act accordingly.
check'd
>that fricking idiot janny-magnet discord friend of yours
you know what I usually say in moments like this...
>Maybe it would've done you some good to have some questions from time to time. Am I a cuck? Are my kids trannies? Is my wife a coal burning prostitute? Now those are questions.
>Anon, drop this Janny career, you're not a janny
I never understood DiCaprio's character's motivation for being a cop. He's smart enough to literally do any other job but instead goes through months of psychological torture to bring down a massive mafia gang in order to get a job as a police officer
I liked his Uncle Janny bettah
>fricking Redditors are a bunch of homos
He's like a Will Hunting type. He's stuck between wanting to outgrow his native Boston upbringing and fricked up family but he keeps going back to it like a dog to it's shit.
Because his uncle Jackie was a piece of shit and wanted to make the family name a well remembered one.
pension
Lol, you need a undergrad and postgrad nowadays for anything beyond minimum wage service industry serf-tier job
idk i watched the first 20 minutes and found it kind of obnoxious
does it get better later on
It does get better than the truly obnoxious beginning. It is an alright movie with some nice flourishes, but in the end nothing special and a bit shlocky. Mainstream appeal Scorsese. To an NPC, who are mentally overwhelmed with more challenging stuff it is like shawshank redemption or something, Scorsese can Play them like fiddles and they think that's all there is.
the shlock is the appeal. it’s tasteful. dismissing it as shlock off the bat, not that you’re doing that, is missing the fun
Tasteful goes a bit far. It's an alright movie. But to say it's one of the greatest ever when there's at least (at least!) 5 movies by the same director that are undoubtedly better is a bit rich.
tasteful shlock. subverts its own shitiness. i’m standing by that
I see where youre coming from. It's shlock made by a master.
I've seen it three times and can't remember shit.
>It's rewatchable as frick
wrong tab anon, this isn't the Predator thread.
So a movie being rewatchable as frick means it's one of the best ever? The room is rewatchable as frick. Ninja terminator is rewatchable as frick.
You are mediocre.
>The room is rewatchable as frick.
I could barely watch that the first time. The Room is only watchable in short clips.
You have to watch it with other people. You'd need friends for that of course.
ITT Rat pricks
What? You think you can ban somebody and there's a special card to play? That guy Jimmy Dubs who's IP you rangebanned happens to be working undercover for the Central Intelligence Agency.
>so they say to me, if you can finish this 3 day ban, you'll be taken care of baby
>That's nice, your moderator must be a wonderful 'woman'
It's the definition of "I hate it because it's mainstream". The film equivalent of music fans who will proudly spout "I liked them before they became famous" (as if Taxi Driver and Casino, among his others, aren't some of the most famous, mainstream American films ever made).
It's also fricking kino.
Is that what all this is about Janny? All that banning and post deleting, and no pay.
>MYKWOPWASESSAZ
MAICROPRASSASSASS
micro wat
Prawn center.
pretty mediocre. Scorsese lightest along with Shutter Island and Alice probably. Dogshit taste required. Enjoyed by the same tier of film-watcher who would identify Wes Anderson as one of their favorites
>What we generally do IN THIS BOARD is one guy makes a dubs thread and the other guy bumps him.
NO DUBSY
NO BUMPY
What did you do with the real dubs, Francis?
frickin fayfaydars are a banch of hawmas.
Movie is basically "durr le Boston people bad".
But where is the lie?
the haircuts in this film are tragic. is boston really this incel friendly?
Thankfully yes for my sake.
I'm gonna go have a bit of a post, do you wanna go have a bit of a post? You don't post, do ya? What, what are ya? One of those lurker freaks? Go frick yourself.
>Let's
i was an extra on this set. mark wahlberg is a fricking weirdo and everybody hated him.
Let's not cry over spilled asiatics
haha. in fact it's the opposite. i was the bigger white guy in the room, so he felt threatened.
People are always height mogging or getting height mogged in this country, am I right?
i don't personally care, he just got aggressive so i stepped forward.
All his costars in the movie were taller than him so maybe he felt threatened throughout shooting. Character never should've been in the movie anyway. Martin Sheen dying would've held more weight if he was the only one who knew Leo was undercover
I tried showing this movie to my gf and she didn't like it 🙁
and I didn't like it nearly as much as I did in my teens and college years 🙁
I thought goodfellas was entertaining and casino was just ok, where does this rank with them? Those are the only two scorcese movies I've bothered to trudge through. I have zero connection to the east coast
you could continue to skip it entirely and not miss anything
why are you here? you got 1400 on your SATs kid, you're an astronaut, not a poster
>you already pretended to be a woman.
>do it again. For me.
This was the last movie where Leonardo Dicaprio was handsome
You corrupt frick, of course you're a shill poster
To this day I laugh my fricking ass off to the "Do we have cameras at the back? - What back???" Because it encapsulate the entire Boomer mid level management mentality in one sentence.
>Can I talk to you for a second?
Miscasting: the movie. I like Jack Nicholson but casting him for that role was bizarre. DiCaprio was always a mediocre actor and Matt Damon is terrible. Bad movie overall.
Infernal Affairs is amazing btw.
>the best and most memorable part was miscast
What
NOW GO HOME AND GET YOUR FRICKIN CRANBERRY JUICE.
I like The Departed because it has a stellar cast.
>Farmiga
>Nicholson
>DiCaprio
>Sheen
>Damon
>Wahlberg
It insists upon itself
I literally couldn't make it past one of the very first scenes where Marky Mark is playing some tough guy yelling in an office.
Zoomies out themselves so easily.
>think the ending is unforeshadowed bullshit
>watch it again the very next day for the purpose of finding clues for the ending
>see none
shit film
fun to watch the first time but after the end shits on so many characters it's not worth watching again
>see none
Skill issue
yeah they used cops from earlier in the movie for the ending, but they exhibited no behavior that showed they were bought off or any communication with the criminals, this point is moronic
They are dirty cops, it's right there in front of you
I AM A SAILOR MAN
AND I LOST MY LEG
