      >for me, it's vrille
The androids on the show are all sentient, and it doesn't matter. Their sentience is taken for granted by the humans and by themselves. Their purpose is their meaning to life, not their sentience. If Mother Clarissa tried to proselytize to them, they'd ignore her.

The Mithraists were trying to be kind by creating androids to do impure work, instead of employing humans. It's what makes the parallel situations of Mother and Tempest so delicious.

The Mithraist/Atheist conflict was so based.

Campion Sturges repurposing Mithraic technology to be pro-human, while the Mithraists from Earth were inhumane psychopaths was such a good storyline.

          >from Earth were inhumane psychopaths
Not really. They placed their faith in religion and humanity, hoping the rules of religion will prevent humanity from destroying itself. If you think about it, their civilisation inside their ship was okish, much better than the atheist civ turned into drones by an AI acting a lot like, ironicaly, a religion.

Sol being an older AI from Kepler previous humanity, this make sense.

The Mithraists were portrayed as stupid, gullible, fickle. Campion et al were the obvious good guys, taking the Kepler-Mithraic technology and making it humane and reasonable. The Trust colony were the ideal post-Earth colony, if not a little overzealous with their discipline, but for good reason.

Mother only ruined a good thing because Campion was being a little shit, and she killed the Snake because she wasn't a good mother to her snake baby. I suspect SOL and Grandmother do what they do due to a similar over-adherence to programming, in their case, make """"humanity"""" live on (even if that means turning humans against themselves and mutating the survivors into dog-like creatures).

I love this show. It's rewatchable, and those rewatches show how tight the writing, acting and set design actually are. I have no hope of it coming back. It isn't Disney friendly.

Why the frick cancel the only original scifi show of the last 5 years ? Are they stupid ? Can't they see how exhausted their existing licences are ?

Someone thought it was kinder than having it devolve into Galactica 1980 or Westworld season 3

Westworld season 3 (or let's be honest, 2) was a real risk but I think they were avoiding it. Season 2 had a really different tone and pace, they had no intentions to get always more cryptic and phylosophical for brain masturbation purposes. They had a clear avenue for season 3 to explain what happened exactly to the proto-humans and the possible non devolved specimen inside the planet, they had mysteries yet to solve, this was no Lost.

Good show with a very rich iconography. Actors are top notch. No preachy spiel, just ambiguous, impressionistic and subjective story telling.

Frick HBO. They cancelled their only gem.

Let's talk real dick here, which place would be most likely to pick it up? There's a petition but the numbers are PATHETIC https://www.change.org/p/renew-raised-by-wolves

the numbers are pathetic because no one watched it.

no one watched it because it was a Ridley Scott fever dream more than a show. it did give me the feeling I was getting insights into how someone with "visual-mind" thinks, though.

Nobody knows it has been cancelled because HBO are nasty cowards who keep silence about it.

Amazon saved The Expanse, they should save it. It would be a nice move after the shame that is Star Trek Puke Hard.

what did Amazon have to do with Picard? I thought that was Paramount?

Amazon airs Puke Hard in Europe and South America.
They actually paid for it, lulz.

This show has amazing visuals. Two main actors, Mother and Father, were great and the free form story was fresh. Meanwhile Westworld is snooty preachy Abrams shit since day one.

What a stupid decision. RbW is the only true science fiction HBO-WB owns today and they throw it away.

There's no conflict with The Trust still existing. It literally created the ideal society for them to exist, so they had to write in a way for it to be deleted from the story.

I predict this series will become a cult show in ten years. It embodies themes that will strike in the future, with smart execution that does not choose between sides. Too many noise, too much TV crap have made RBW invisible for the mainstream crowd, but its time will come. Late. People who aborted to keep turds like Westworld or Fake Trek on air made a terrible mistake.

I loved how this was basically the devil’s advocate of Contact.
    >get sent plans from uhhhh idk somewhere in outer space
    >provides fantastic technology that you don’t actually understand and it ends up destroying the planet
I always thought it would have been funny if Contact ended the same way and when they activate the gyros it blows up the planet kek
