Why didnt you giys just buy hbo max? This is your fault. I watched this show on my account, my mothers accnt and my fathers accnt just to get its views up. We failed us all because you wanted to be cheap
Annoying that they killed it off because I was hoping it would go somewhere. Season one was fricking great and although two a bit downhill it still has enough to keep me hanging on. Very odd and unique. Anything similar that I can pick up?
Amazon better fricking pick it up.
Weird decision, season 2 was better than season 1, should've cancelled it after first season
What was the appeal?
Rewatching season 1 there was a noticeable quality drop after the first few episodes. Part of me wonders if they didn’t blow their load too soon destroying the Mithraic ark in the first episode. The Mithraics were more interesting than Mother or Campion
>The Mithraics were more interesting than Mother or Campion
That's exactly what I thought. They were the best part of the show and they basically didn't exist in Season 2 because they lived in a shitty cave and they didn't look cool. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why it got axed; because the writers themselves thought they messed up.
I agree the mythraics were the most kino part, but the story was about the conversion of nonbelievers, and having them be a small group of like 2-4 people that slowly converted people would be neat.
Also a lot of ppl were about to start transforming into weird things so even the athiest groups were about to dwindle.
Annoying that they killed it off because I was hoping it would go somewhere. Season one was fricking great and although two a bit downhill it still has enough to keep me hanging on. Very odd and unique. Anything similar that I can pick up?
It was basically a live action ripoff of Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop but with half the imagination. However, the characters were good and the setting showed premise. If you want some sort of closure, watch Serenity after but honestly didn't like it as much. It was just trying to condense like 2-3 seasons of story in to a movie to wrap shit up, and doesn't seem as well done.
>live action ripoff of Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop
how's that? i don't recall anything like the independents/alliance war or reavers or much else besides people having spaceships being in common
At least Firefly got a movie to finish off the overall story. But that's because it was semi-planned out. I don't know if RbW would get a movie if they're just making things up as they go along
Ridley Scott got a big check from Disney to make an Alien show at Hulu and a big check from Amazon to produce a Bladerunner show, even though it's safe to say you could move on without him as he's not actually directing the episodes.
>athieats good because they strap bombs to children
They dont even originate from Earth, its literally a story about aliens played by humans. It was so far removed from us, which is what interested me. It would honestly work better in book format, no budget issues then. I do hope it does get finished somehow.
>mystery box
But most things besides "the signal" was explained within the next episode it was brought up. It was one of the few shows that brought answers or resolutions to questions.
Frick, without Father I'm going to revert back to being racist
It's a really interesting setting with a cool aesthetic but it was obvious to me from halfway through the first season that it's one of those shows like Lost or Heroes where they pretend there's some huge mystery to be unravelled but in reality they're just making it up as they go along and it's as shallow as a puddle of piss. I'm glad I dropped it before I got to the second season. It's a pity though because I had high hopes for it.
I disagree, I think there was a coherent intention with the mystery. There's a lot of foreshadowing.
It was an actually interesting show, it kept politics out and the diversity made sense. Characters were characters, not racial stereotypes and there wasn't really any female empowerment. It had a nice balance of also showing how the religious and the atheist were both pieces of shit in their own right(Religion with their murder bots and Atheists with child soldiers). The setting also felt very alien, with oceans of acid and the weird flora. I really wish they would have just given them another season so they could have at least wrapped things up.
this is why i dont watch new tv shows, your favorite flavor of the month show severance will also be canceled at some point and then i will be happy i never started watching it
The most interesting bits were about Sol and the war on Earth, and both of those were basically ignored in season 2. It's not surprising it was canceled. Nothing happened in season 2. The cliffhanger should have literally been episode 1.
>Not interested in it at all >Bored out of my mind one day >Watch a youtuber i like talk about it >Considering watching it now
And now we're here.
Why does this always happen?
Any other shows you guys want cancelled? Hit me up

Raised by Wolves is a perfect example of everything you can do wrong in sci-fi.
You take something like Battlestar Galactica, the sci-fi elements are obviously fictitious but they follow some clear logic: the Battlestar has FTL who needs to recharge before being ready to use, the Vipers also have more limited FTL who could tear down the ship if activated inside; civilian ships can hook up to the Battlestar's FTL; Cylons can transfer their minds in new fabricated bodies as long as the signal is in reach; etc.
Anything that escapes science fiction and falls into the supernatural realm like angels, Gods and prophecies is purposely left vague.
In Raised by Wolves this logic doesn't apply, everything goes with no explanation: android who was reprogrammed from indestructible weapon into a care-giving mother with the purpose of raising children to preserve human life finds an old machine that gives her access to the hidden memories of the day she was built. She has virtual sex with her maker and ends up pregnant with a giant alien flying vegetarian eel that eventually becomes weaponized by eating the fake mother of a kidnapped child who turned into a mythical tree by planting herself into the ground after unlocking a seemingly unbreakable box containing the seed by singing a random song to her fake son

There is Hard Sci-Fi like Star Trek, and then there is Fantasy Sci-Fi like Star Wars and Raise by Wolves. The technology in these settings isn't what's important. Its just a way to get from A to B. I do not care about how the settlers get their crops or what their toilet situation is. I care about the characters involved in the story and how they deal with the supernatural aspects. Its like asking Star Wars to start focusing on hard sci-fi and forgetting all about the force, and how the characters deal with the dilemma of good and evil. BSG would be an example of Hard Sci-fi mixed with supernatural elements. There are plenty of degrees that you can go with it, and they're all valid avenues depending on what story you're trying to tell.
Star Trek was almost just as fantasy. It had so many magic techs, god like aliens, weird almost magical plants etc. It is hard to call it a hard sci fi
This is bad news... It truly shows that you can't produce actual television... It all needs to appeal to normies like Breaking Bad, Severance, Better Call Saul etc.
Well, time to cancel my HBO subscription since they don't do frick all.
Cause globohomosexual has infinite amount of money to fund it.

Farscape is good but it's too derpy compared to Firefly.

Look it up
Why cry about it unless it's the only show you watched this year. I watched two shows so I'll survive.
I need closure, anon.
What needs to be explained?
You can give yourself closure. Just assume Marcus is with Sue now. Comfy.
ah tree mommy
This was the best ending of any episode.

I like Travis Fimmel seems like a nice block and only a meme because of Vikings.
Marcus' story is far from over.
He's the resurrected Jesus now.

But severance is trash too, imagine watching mystery box garbage.

Eh, it's not the worst. Better shows have been cancelled with fewer seasons. Firefly only had 1 season, for example.
Was firefly really as good as all the basedajackas make it out to be???
It was a great little show people just look at it now based on memes
It was fantastic and you should watch it one day.

Firefly is still the best sci fi show ever made.

I liked this show, it was like a live action crazy 80s japanese manga
I was 100% sure it was cancelled after disastrous clusterfrick of first season.
I'm learning that there was a second season from this very thread.

Also, frick Campion that dicky murderbot lover.
>hating on a 10 year old who grew up alone besides two robots

Well, they did it to themselves. They should have stopped introducing ten new ridiculous mysteries per episode without solving any.
this is why i dont watch new tv shows, your favorite flavor of the month show severance will also be canceled at some point and then i will be happy i never started watching it
i mean sure we won't know what happened but i'll have the memories of watching with Cinemaphile and the other homies asking questions and shit

Severance could end after season 1 and still be absolutely worth watching

I literally don't watch American TV shows anymore because they get cancelled.
It's banal.
I mean, American TV shows *are* often banal, but I don't think you know what that word means.
It's a really interesting setting with a cool aesthetic but it was obvious to me from halfway through the first season that it's one of those shows like Lost or Heroes where they pretend there's some huge mystery to be unravelled but in reality they're just making it up as they go along and it's as shallow as a puddle of piss. this was from s1 but all the stuff happened in s2
i think the showrunner said he mapped out 3-4 seasons worth of story
>said
So did the lost guys
in this case it clearly was mapped
how could you possibly know that did you write the show?
no I watched the show
P.S. Elon Musk should pick it up, would obv. need to purchase some random company first though.
Oh, you wanted to watch sci-fi kino? Sorry, we only have troonyshit on this streaming platform.
Someone else will pick it up, probably Amazon.
