I saw all the episode very fast so i can give a little recap but not a fully one
Ep 1:
Ez and Soren go to call the ocean archdragon to recieve news on Aaaravos prison, meanwhile Callum and Rayla are in Katolis and Rayla steal Callum key to go on Viren dark chamber and find a coin with the old teacher of Viren and Runnan bow and then she get herself arrested by Opali and Callum forgive her for not telling what she is doing and they decide to go on Lux to find more information on Aaravos. Claudia in the mean time carries an unconsious Viren
Ep 2:
Viren has nightmare and once again they make seems that the old king was put on the bird and Callum with Rayla gets attacked by a dark zombie phnater from the corrupted lux
Ep 3:
Callum and Rayla arrives at Amaya wedding and try to gain acces to the library and Viren keeps having nightmare and we are shown how he used dark magic to save Soren life when he was little
Ep 4:
Callum and Rayla arrives at the library and he try to find informations on how to kill Aaravos while Amaya tells Rayla off for having abbandoned him which make her seens that what she did wwrong and decide that he can trust him by telling him about her parents coins and then they get attacked by a lot pf zombie phanters and have to be saved by Zubeia which then she get infected

Ez reaveals to Callum that for informations on Aaravos prison they have to try and contact a tidebound mage which they go and try to find her.The bother of the sunfire queen meanwhile is trying to bring the old Fire archdragons to power but he needs to restore his eye and he can do only with the sunfireseeds which it's in posses of his sister so he goes to recruit the bloodmoon assasin to do his job. Claudia is taking Viren still for a ride to go to Aaravos
Ep 6:
Zubeia is sick with the zombie plague so she can't bring them to the prison so with Rayla help they go on a pirate port in search of a shio. There Ez steals from the topdog pirate to save three baby suntoads and they find Vlad which offers them a ride
Ep 7:
On the ship there is also Nyx which does almost nothing and in the meantime the pirate follow them with a better ship and caught them while the bloodmoon huntress cleans house of the sunfire elfs and kidnapp the queen
Ep 8:
Callum's gets torture and beat up because the pirate need him to do dark magic to kill the archdragon of the sea which he refuse so after stopping his and Rayla rebellion with a body water freeze spells he tells him that he will feed her to a Leviathan. Callum then got himself free again and learns the ocean magic and counter him and Soren coinvince his fi9rst mate to throw the captain to the sea monster. Amaya rescue her wife, the sunfire queen
Ep 9:
Callum, Ez and Rayla fights Claudia underwater before reaching the prison, they defat her and are able to recover a pearls which cointains Aaravos.Zubeia gets cured by a mushroom mage which sings a stupid song,We learn that Aravos killed the old sunfire queen by eating her apparently and Viren decide that he dosen't want to keep following this dark path and to risk Caludia future so he refuse to kill the bug-thing to keep living and he ends with him dying

NTA but it was reeaally fricking bad. Like, holy shit. This makes season 3 look like a masterpiece by comparison.
I watched it by skipping some scens to avoid spoilers for myself since i have to go not to long from now.

It was actually much better than season 4, way less stupids plots and terrible jokes even tough i saw two poops one.
At least all the plots where togheter and Rayla is actually a characters again but I think that they dropped the fact that she became one that didn't think she could save everyone since they never adressed it and why she returned waqs told in a short story she missed Callum and keep failing her mission .
Still i actually liked it and I'm not so worried for the future of this series as I was for season 4.

Callum being kinda traumatized by the experience with teh pirate and his new ability of ocean magic since he only used to counter a spell and nothing less so they have to show more.Rayla coins and the Viren coin with his teacher.The sunfireplot with the borther that now ahs an army and the sunfire seed to un-blind the Sunfire dragon. Viren dying which I thinks they will put him into a coin to stop it since they showed in his nightmare. If the old king is really in a bird or not. The sword to kill Aaravos and what to do with his priso. Zubeia being cured by the magic of the mushroom man.What to do with the bloodmoon huntress and what Caldia and Terry can do now to take the prison once again

They didn't even tell us what she did in two years or why she came back.
No they had to say that in a short story with culminated with just Rayla missing Callum and deciding to go back to him but this left why she acted like that in season 4 when she left the dragon in peril since "we can't save everyone".
I would have thought that it was because maybe she lost someone that she befriended in her travel or committed a grave mistake that scarred her but it seems that didn't happen so there were no reason for that scene in season 4.

This is the second time that dark magic saved Callum's ass while his fart magic wouldn't do shit to those chains.

I think Dark magic is seen as bad is because it always requires the sacrifice of a being's life force to achieve ends not feasibly possible my ordinary means. However i think most elves are afraid of the balancing tipping into the human's favor if they were to control it.
The reasons of why that doesn't hold up to the idea of Dark Magic being inherently bad rather than risky or dangerous have been discussed a million times, as has the points of regulation and farming.
I used to think the show had some reveal about the Elves and Dragons using it as an excuse to uphold supremecy, but by S3 I just accepted that this was apparently considered legitimate by the story.

Dark magic isn't evil at all, it's just a tool and you know that in real life humans would use it for multiple purposes beyond killing filthy elves.
The simple fact that Aaravos taught it to humans - and can control like a puppet anybody who uses it at will - while seeking to destroy all dragons and elves, may suggest an evil plan to make himself God-Emperor, with humanity merely his servitors. That and Claudia seems to be slowly going insane the more she uses it, at this point I am 100% certain she is going to use Terry as some sort of horrible sacrifice in the pursuit of her goals.

The second point that comes to mind is that it seems to be addicting or corrupting in some way, since everyone except Ziard turns into weird Grimace looking freaks with enough exposure to it, Claudia and Viren also seem to start using it for needlessly mundane things, like to make a light or a plushify spell to coat a surface in a soft down.
At one point it seemed like they intended Dark Magic to be widespread but considering we see less than a handful of people practice it ever I suppose that’s just been thrown away. Everyone’s ruled by absolute monarchies however so they can only make decisions as good as what those people can come up with. The idea of establishing institutions and ethical standards of practice for Dark Magic probably just never crossed people’s minds since only Viren and Claudia seem to be using and learning about it for some reason.

If Dark Magic was way more widespread and all the older practitioners were like horrible vampire zombie things it would sell the point a lot better.

Jesus Fricking Christ, this season is going to kill me, isn't it?
This is the worst part of this season for me.They did have Rayla keep the coins a secret for him and went to show that it was Callum that completely trust her so their relationship can be mend but it makes no sense that he so trustful of her since I want to remember everyone that she lied once and left him and being caught stealing a key and having the bow that kill your dad dosen't make for a good case of being trusted.
Then we have the scene in the bookery where Amaya tell Rayla that he hurt Callum but that makes her just reveal the coins to him since she finally realize that it's not just her burden to carry but she still doesn't apologize and we have another scene where Callum say is sorry to not tell her that he loves her.
If they just had a scene were she say sorry and then had Callum forgive her it would have been 100% easier and resolve all of their relationship problem but it seems that they just went with "Callum forgive her nonetheless and they are togheter again but still no kiss".
I also hate how the most interesting plot points are shown in short stories and never brought back on the show.
We still have 0 idea what Rayla did and how Ez feel regarding the murder of his father if you just watch the show.They could have cut down some scenes from the first ep like the donut one and had quick flashback for these and the show would have greatly improved.
I can't even say anymore that maybe they will tell about it on the next season when Ez know about the coins and gets angry at Ruunan since now I'm sure they will just gloss over them and consider those plot points closed since they told about them in another media that almost nobody will read
My question is what's going on with old Ehasz lately? The man has done great work writing on Avatar, Futurama, and Mission Hill. Is it the other writers? Does he refuse to wrangle them in properly? Is he just making some bad decisions?
I mean nobodies perfect, I don't expect him to always hit it out of the park. We all remember to Sit Down, Shut Up! And I know Cinemaphile likes to try to sum up a person's work based on a single dud or success, but the media we consume are group efforts, you can't attribute it all to a single person. In terms of what's in the show, dunno. She was upset that her somethingsexuality and being female didn't entitle her to a seat at the writer's table.
She also got angry as frick because during some Pride Month Aaron wanted her to post a picture of Runaan and Ethari. Runaan was trapped in a coin, obviously, and she was all "I don't think we should be proud of these gay characters when one of them is magically frozen. He asked the rest of the group, they went "uh, post it, duh" and she got super angry because he was SMUG that the others agreed with him.
After she wrote a big "I'm quitting, it's a toxic work environment uguyz" rant, someone who worked with him at Riot Games agreed with her. Turns out when Aaron was put in charge of a project he acted like he was in charge and wasn't respectful of the hierarchy and "I've got dibs on this stuff" framework that existed before he was put in charge. Oh and he did things like bring his kid to work and say "hey could you keep an eye on my kid for a bit" which IS a shitty-boss-move, but at the same time not exactly "this guy is a sexist piece of shit, cancel him!"
But I do think that after that experience he's been waaaay too concerned about PROVING he's not secretly racist/misogynistic/homophobic, and he's put some stuff in the show to prove it that really should have been left on the cutting room floor. Fricking Elf Queen Gay Romance.

Ehasz is a dad now, and that's been apparent in the writing of the show since episode one. Nothing wrong with it, but in some writers, becoming a parent dulls their edge.

Watched all of it, massive spoilers ahead:
The pacing was really off in the later half of the season. I was really digging it up till the moment they arrived at Scumport. This part was completely unnecessary aside from providing an excuse for Callum to learn the secret behind the Ocean arcanum. Finnegrin was fine but will be forgotten. The Karim plotline was surprisingly decent. I imagine once Aaravos breaks free from his prison he will trick Karim/Sol Regem to do his bidding, the latter by fueling his revenge against Avizandum's off spring and humanity at large.
Now for the juicy part, Aaravos' origins. It's obvious Gaarlath the annihilator is meant to represent Aaravos while Leola is either his lover or brother/sister? Also pic related shows that Aaravos most likely isn't even an elf to begin with but rather a startouch dragon that has been teased in the books for quite some time now.
I could see that for sure. Aaravos' voice from the beginning seemed way too deep for an elf and fits perfectly with what we've heard from the other adult male dragons in the show.

She immediatly dipped away from the pirates and was needed just so the ship went forward on the sea of cast out which another character could have done by lying to the pirate.
She wasn't even used to poke on Callum and Rayla like she did in season 3 and her not believing that Callum could do magic was a useless plot points since she didn't react after that he proved her wrong just like all the other elves on the show.
Maybe in season 6 she will have a bigger role since they are still in the boat togheter but I see as a low possibility
Who know, maybe the creator wanted to kill the Soren-Nyx ship by making them not interract.
(That would be kinda stupid since it's a full on meme ship between two people that never saw each other at the moment it was created)

We knew it was created by both Aaravos' and Viren's blood so it shouldn't have come as a surprise no. It was funny how Aaravos leaned into it. Too bad it lifted a lot of the tension in regard to the whole blood sacrifice thing because now it feels like Viren, the man who would put his best friend's soul into a fricking bird to save him, wouldn't save his own life because of butterfly creature.
Virens very much been acting different since the moment he revived. The trauma of DEATH got to him bad and he was showing signs of regret even in the subpar last season to the point Claudia told him to man up and be the war crime lover again.
So it didn’t really surprise me as I felt he was going this way from that moment.
Viren has figured out that dark magic is bad shit and, while he has done horrible things, is trying to finally say "no, not again".

Just binged the season. A big step up from S4, I enjoyed it especially Episode 4 and afterwards. The first episode was still a mess writingwise though.
First episodes are always weak unless you make seasons transition into the next one which honestly is the preferred route. It was just like the first episode of season 4 where everything felt awfully normal again and they needed a reason to get the plot moving again.

Season 5 with a 7.8 of 10 because of the first episode with Rayla plot which dragged the score down and some bad jokes and some wasted characters like Nyx and the ocean dragon but it had some of the more memorable scenes especially with ep 8 and 9
Season 1 - 6.8 of 10
Season 4 - 1 of 10 with no reediting quality and it's literally better if you don't watch it and just look for a recap on the 2 major points.
They just need to fire who is responsible to write the first two episodes and next season has all the cards to be better than all of the others

Overall season 5 was much, much better than 4. Most of its problems were stuff that was already an issue in the first three seasons. I don’t have a problem with the blood of the child copout since it is still pretty horrifying and Viren would literally rather die than go through with it.

That would require the different writers to talk to one another. Can’t have that.
They don't even have a reaction to the water elf telling them that there was a human mage who knew magic. I guess they just assumed she was a Dark Mage, but why would the dragons want to go to a Dark Mage to seal Aaravos if they have such a hate boner for them. And why would no one mention this human mage until now? The show is all over the place with it's lore.
Episodes 1 and 2 of this season were kinda hard for me to slog through, because at first they felt like an only slightly less terrible extension if season 4. But by episode 3, I at least found the rest of it engaging and watchable enough to binge in one go. I think particularly it was when the Viren family drama finally started to kick in that I took interest. And this alone makes it a huge improvement over season 4, even if that isn’t saying much.

Last season she did a similar transformation but with a snake tail, and then destroyed the entire snake tail when it got frozen and broke into a million pieces, but she walked away just fine. So at first I thought if she got her tentacle sliced this time it wouldn’t be a big deal.

The Twin Peaks reference feels really out of place if you recognize it as a Twin Peaks reference. It feels like that level of pop culture reference should be reserved for a funny joke, and the scene is way too unsettling and serious for you to enjoy it as a joke, it’s just played straight.
I think the kids who don’t recognize that it’s Twin Peaks at all will think it seems like a top tier unsettling and vaguely symbolic looking dream sequence, though. Which makes it less of an homage and more of a ripoff at that point.
The writing in Dragon Prince and Avatar is INCREDIBLY similar. There are some questionable "why are you doing this now, with the fate of the world on the line?!?!?" moments in each.
The difference is that Avatar made sure to have fantastic martial arts scenes in every episode. That's literally the key difference. There are plenty of flaws in both, and even though I'd say the rest of DP's flaws might have been a bit more important than Avatar's, at the end of the day Dragon Prince's other flaws stick out more because you don't get distracted by sick fight scenes. Sick fight scenes can help you wash down a lot of stupid shit. It's the cement that holds together most anime.
That and they just rely on things that are meant to appeal to the kiddy audience too much. Maybe they do, but I do kind of roll my eyes at how much they go "OMG jelly tarts", "Friendship", and "Bait cute."

Exactly. In both Avatar and TDP there's some big holes in the worldbuilding. And the characters will wander off and do stupid shit, dealing with Local Problem instead of going "we don't have time for this, the fate of the world is on the line!" There's lots of kiddy shit in both.
But you have an easier time dealing with it in Avatar because in almost every episode there's some cool martial arts. Sometimes it's not as cool as other times, but you always get SOMETHING fun. Hell, if they'd made the martial arts more badass in The Great Divide we might even tolerate that ep.
But in TDP the fight scenes are more rare and less cool (maybe the CG is party to blame, I dunno). It makes for a big difference.

I feel like that was one of the most obvious parts of her characterization, that she saw what was obviously there between the two and in some small way prodded them together and by the end of the episode they ultimately did kiss. Like Nyx has to ask why they're not closer so does she? I already see that Nyx is going to start fricking Soren because that just makes no sense, which is consistent with these writers being crackship central with this whole show.
Yunno what, I just realized that Soren and Claudia have an antagonist dad and an absent mother; and Claudia is following her dad's ideals and Soren isn't - just like another brother-sister combination. And now this whole show has just become even more profoundly shit and I didn't even think that was possible.

I think he would have said he’d prefer if the baby deer were left alone just because he was fine with things the way they were, and really the choice should have been given to him and not Claudia.

The only things Rayla has to apologize for is not letting Callum kiss Claudia and jumping Callum's bones while Claudia was out collecting firewood. And she should rectify this by allowing Callum to kiss Claudia while having sex with her in the missionary position with her clothes on. It's frankly shocking that nobody accept this as canon when it's so obvious your legitimate complaints will never be rectified.

We've known Dragon Prince was shit from the start. The tolerance of the first three seasons was all in the hopes that it would rise to some level of quality but those hopes were dashed when basically the fricking baker was on the front lines fighting off hardened warriors. The fourth season only confirmed without a shadow of doubt that the writers were shit and all hopes were in vain.
There's no secret factor. Sometimes people get lucky. And in this case the phenomenon is the same as Star Wars Episode 1-3, which is that it's possible for a future product made by the same key people can retroactively make the original work look like shit when framed from the perspective of the future. Forget what the frick people were saying about George Lucas having free reign during Episode 1-3, it doesn't change the fact that at his core, he is shit and he was just as shit back then. Nothing is new or different it's just how it has always been only the context has changed.
ATLA was shit and janky we just were too young to see it. And to be fair ATLA and Korra were also good in some ways and are consistent with the good parts in Dragon Prince, namely the women were incredibly charming. Ignoring how this whole post started, the fact is Toph, Rayla, Claudia, and Azula were vital components to their shows (and Iroh but there is no wise old man equivalent in DP); far more than Zuko, Callum, Aang, Soren, and Sokka were. And Appa was far more fun than fricking Bait than whatever the frick that monkey is Rayla now has.

Figuring out that an average person can’t carry a heavy load for more than a few minutes before they realize that they’ll really want a tool of some sort to make it easier is practical knowledge that people obtain by actually performing that level of labor. Which I don’t think anybody on the creative team here ever has.
Which brings me back to an old criticism of mine: the writers seem woefully disconnected from a lot of the material they seem to want to write about. This applies to minor details as well as to big overarching themes.
The scene where the dragon tips over their boat and then just stands there while they spend like 10 seconds to slowly limp behind a rock came out a little awkward looking.

Soren has a little but more going for him other than comic relief, though he and Claudia’s charms still suffer ever since they were separated.
But Soren relating to Elmer really saved the day in that one episode, and I think his relationship with Zubeia is going somewhere (probably not sex, even though I’d love it, but maybe still somewhere)
Also apparently that infamous moment where Viren and Soren interacted in season 4 but failed to confront each other happened because they’re saving that confrontation for some place further down their character arcs. So that scene is supposed to be coming.
Hopefully we’re gonna continue to get more Viren family drama concerning Soren’s childhood illness and Viren’s divorce, so I’m really looking forward to that. Hopefully they haven’t/won’t just dump that material into a shitty prequel comic.
The Soren/Elmer scene would've worked better if they showed Elmer and Soren bonding a bit beforehand and hinting that Elmer wanted to be respect, but might not have shown how to vocalize it(being a tree and all). As it is, Soren just kind of got the shit beat out of him on the assumption that Elmer isn't a piece of shit like his boss(even though nothing prior to that showed he was anything other than a willing lackey). This season was better written than the last, but there's a lot of small things that show just how sloppy the writing still is.
Soren was projecting his own abusive dad issues onto Finnegrin/Elmer, so I don’t think it at all mattered to him what sort of person Elmer was, or whether Elmer thought he was okay with being treated that way. The important thing to Soren was that he didn’t like seeing Finnegrin treating another person so shitty, and he didn’t think anybody deserved that under any circumstance. He even said he understood Elmer’s “battered wife” perspective with thinking everything was fine, because that is what Soren himself was like with Viren earlier in the show. Soren was Viren’s willing lackey, Soren did bad things for Viren’s sake while Viren treated him shitty, and Soren repeatedly came back for more thinking that was normal.
Making Elmer recognize the abuse or bond and become friends with Soren would actually run the risk of diminishing the point they were trying to make about abusive relationships. The scene was really more about Soren’s character development than it was about Elmer’s
I agree that Soren was doing a bit of projecting, but it made me wish they actually had to two of them interact when they did meet back in season 4, instead of handwaving it off until fan backlash.
I don't think it would've diminished the point if they had Soren recognize Finn treated Elmer like shit sooner. Every scene we see of Finn interacting with Elmer was him treating him like shit, so Soren recognizing that and immediately trying to sow the seeds(ha) of rebellion into Elmer's head early that he deserved better would've still worked and not be so sudden like it is in the show.
The Viren and Soren interaction was told in a short story, togheter with Ezrean getting angry about his dad getting killed,Claudia thoughts after season 4,Aaravos and the story on how the humans got nuked for using magic and what brought back Rayla from her two years journey.
They said that this were extra informations that didn't have to show but still they wanted to tell them which is unfortunately since they are really good

I don’t care if it’s free, I don’t care if it’s easy to look up, I came to watch a tv show and if they want me to know story elements, they have to put it in the show proper or else I’m not digging it up and I’m not counting it as canon. I’m not so invested in this fandom that I’m interested in side media for this one. They gotta make a compelling show first and hook me if they want me reading comics about it, it’s not going the other way around here.

Initially this was a "Star Crossed Lovers" thing. The thing standing between Rayla and Callum's romance was that humans and elves had been enemies for as far back as anyone could remember. Them being in love despite that was easily the best part of the show.
Along came season 4 and just absolutely eviscerated the main hook of the show by having MULTIPLE human-elf romances. Claudia's in love with an elf. The Elf Queen is marrying a human. It's not a big deal. Suddenly not only are Rayla and Callum not unique, but there's literally nothing to stop them from just humping in a tent every ep, because clearly nobody would give a frick. Sure, go ahead, make Hulf babies, the traditional hatred of your races stopped being an issue overnight.
So now that the big obstacle is gone the writers are struggling to find new obstacles, and they're too stuck in "girlboss and niceguy" mode to notice they've made Rayla a terrible person and Callum into a doormat. And since they were the best part of the show, they've fricked up the show itself. All because some moron in the writers' room decided they needed several more human-elf romances.
Just sheer incompetence.
I can deal with a lot of the complaints of season 4. I've learned to expect dumb humor from this show and I see a lot of the elf stuff as being the world progressing from season 1.
My main complaint is that the whole season feels like a really long episode or two episodes instead of a whole season like the other ones do. When I got to the end I was like: Seriously? They was the WHOLE season?
The one redeeming factor to me is that having just lost my Father IRL I did connect with Claudia's storyline, but you can't expect that from the general audience.

I'm starting to think the notoriously shitty romance plots in ATLA was thanks in part due to Ehasz. Bryke are still the main perpetrators and we saw this on full display in Korra but with Dragon Prince Ehasz has shown he's not much better.
I swear there is some secret factor to ATLA we're missing. There was someone on that team that was saying "No, that's shit" and they lost that filter.
Supposedly Ehasz's wife was the one who helped write the really good familial dynamics. They're divorced now, so...

also alot of the screentime was really spent worldbuilding and showcasing the way of life of common people outside of the main cast

I for one enjoyed the season though i won't deny that most of your gripes are mostly if not entirely justified. This is one of those shows that works best when watched in one session but 9 episodes is too little to work with for that to work.

I agree. There's a lot of people nitpicking certain things which i partially understand but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the show.
The only thing that really bothered me is that the 'Ocean' theme of the season more or less felt like a backdrop rather than an integral part of the season though season 4 was definitely not better in that regard.
I also don't understand why people are being weird about Aaravos' lack of screentime since for me that's kinda the point behind the mystery. We're being spoonfed little pieces of information which help to build intrigue in the show's final villain.

If you murdered or made an attempt on every monarch of an entire kingdom, and then came around and offered a peace which would include among other things an end to famine forever owing to access to magic food production, I'm pretty sure the entire population would quickly get over their offense at losing said monarchs.

Team dark magic was first stuck in place as Viren had nightmares, then stuck hauling Viren slowly as he had nightmares, then going by river on a makeshift boat while being watched close by dragons with the intent to kill them... and also while Viren had nightmares.
Team elf magic was first having a first class plane flight all over the place by queen mama dragon herself and when that sunk they quickly got a good quality boat powered by wind for free.
So what I quoted is not shit writing, but you have to remember that our villains are huge underdogs while the heroes have so many privileges that even Batman himself would be jealous
The series is gunning hard for these "emotional" scenes that rely on every character not only becoming a complete fricking moron but trying to outmoron every other complete fricking moron in the room. Rinse and repeat for 9 episodes.

The dragon was asked to find Claudia. It probably thought humans can't be that tough and tried to handle it on its own and got wrecked.
It makes perfect sense considering they were asked to help where as before they would have ignored the humans and gone on their way.
Am I going crazy or was Rayla sort of trash fighting this season? I remember her being way more competent at fighting, yet this season comes and she just sort of gets tossed around.
I like the recurring motif with Sir Sparklepuff’s butterfly wings. Viren used to kill several butterflies every day just to improve his complexion, but now he’s decided against using dark magic so firmly that he won’t even hurt Sir, who is basically a big butterfly, even to save his own life.

Regarding Rayla the answer is yes, in the first episode she doesn't tell Callum about the coins and steal from him the key to go to the chamber of Viren which then she get's caught by the guard and Callum forgive her and apologize to her.
She talks about Amaya on the facts that she left him for two years and that bring her to tell him about the coins and to trust him completaly but she still hasn't say sorry.
and in EP 8 after Callum was tortured she first cuddle with the monkey and then go to search for Callum which tells her with the saddest expression ever that he is ok and she immediatly believe him and doesn't discuss more on what happened

>Epi 4, Team Dark Magic episode, Viren's Nightmare, Claudia discover that magic zombies follows her orders, Claudia kills a water dragon and turns him into a magic zombie
>Epi 5, Introduce the pirate king, Ezra has to play politics with the pirate king, shenanigans happen with other members of the team elf, Callum purchase a water thingamajig, Team Elf gets in the boat

It doesn't waste time on the exiled elf, or the blood elf, or the lesbians, or the moron water mage, you are not TLA, you don't have 24 or 12 episodes, it also solves the problem of why many consider dark magic bad, it can create zombies, its effective and simple, everyone can understand that, I would also turn the earth elf into a comic relief zombie.

I'm surprised at how much extra content this show gets when more popular shows like The Owl House doesn't get anything.
Dragon Prince takes less labor to make because once you have the model and a rig anybody can animate it. It's a one-time large investment. And they don't have to have costumes. Owl House everything has to be animated from basically nothing, and characters change their costumes, which takes a ton of work; same was true of Inside Job. I'm willing to bet it takes far less money to produce a new episode of Dragon Prince than Owl House.
I haven't watched this shit yet but I'm willing to bet that Nyx has the exact same model as she did in Season 3 because they can't be fricked to remodel her.
So when costs are this low, you can blow the extra budget on extra shit.

I've only watched up to the point where Aaravos turned into a hologram and he sadistically killed some Fire Elf and used the Fire Elf core or sth to raise an army of zombie fire soldiers only for it to be defeated by a bunch of archers led by a child. Not sure which season it was, and then Viren got revived by Claudia, Claudia got white hair and Aaravos turned into a bigger bug.

Well, I'll finish tomorrow. It's not perfect but a step up from 4 so far. Pacing has issues like usual. Sometimes its slow, but there is a sort of "unnatural" feeling to it more than anything. This show has had pacing problems since the first season though. Remember when they spent like 2 or 3 episodes climbing that mountain? Or at least that's what it felt like.

90% of their problems seems like they could be solved by just sending letters. But the only time they actually use a fricking messenger bird was throwing it 20 feet in the library.
The only time a messenger bird would have helped is when Zubeia didn’t show up and they decided to go to Cutthoat Island instead of trying to contact one of the dozens of other dragons they were working with. Also, despite some very poor decisions, the main characters had a big victory and made Aaravos much less likely to escape, at least until Callum gets possessed again. Also Elf Wakanda is about to have a civil war but who cares about that.
